Russia is about to destroy a country within Europe, killing women and children , in a war they could never win, so 200k of troops go in and try and hold a country of about 40 million armed to the teeth. It would be an endless war , Belarus is preparing to invade from the north. Hospitals , schools, orphanages destroyed. My belief is this is solely at Putin's door. Strategic specialists have said he might nuke Poland and negotiate from there, I've heard an American historian quoting someone saying build your enemy a golden bridge in which to retreat over....my argument returns to ... No matter the moral or financial reasons , do you want a western world or an eastern world power, it's a fairly simple really, as I said pick a team....as much as we have resentment towards politicians , EU etc , what price your liberty, is it better to fight against authoritarian countries at distance or help brave souls fight it at distance....I honestly don't get all the conspiracy guys on here , people saying it's not our business, the guy has killed multiple people on British soil , as said previously what are you limits , give an inch take a mile. Most thought nuclear destruction wouldn't be an issue for our children ,and now this loon has brought it all back....

Personally, I wouldn't want us to sit by and see Finland or Sweden invaded or attacked. But I think in the event of that, shit would be well and truly sideways and there really wouldn't be much in it.

Tbh the new buzz phrase is 'grey zone war' aka 'below the threshold attack', and I think we're going to see a lot of this over the coming years. There are clear red lines that we need to be sure of and enforce, but there is a lot of scope for competition and attack below those. It's in this grey zone that the rules get murky.

Out of interest can't nukes be intercepted or is it a case if 500 are coming at you you only need few to get through?

Some good points. 

He didn't need to bring the possibility of nuclear war into it. That alone probably puts him into another class. I guess I so distrust our leaders and media I question everything. 

I still believe American could negotiate better and bring things back from the brink and that makes me wonder if they want to

Fair one, I think living in the EU and having extreme views on race and immigration might be hypocrisy, or supporting Russia having never been there or having a jab but crying conspiracy or whatever else , no offense but of many things I am I don't feel I'm naive , just because it doesn't contain new world order 5 g or the country is screwed etc....

Yes, there are ballistic missile defence (BMD) systems. It's a difficult job with a less than perfect probability of success/kill.

I don't think any countries BMDs are comprehensive enough to cope with hundreds of missiles attacking.

Nuclear escalation is straight out of Russian de-escalation doctrine, oddly enough. Up the ante to scare the other side into de-escalation. Unfortunately that includes using battlefield nukes against a conventional NATO force on a neutral battlefield (eastern Europe) to scare us into negotiation. The obvious fear being, further escalation would be to a strategic nuclear exchange. It's a very risky doctrine!

Why not keep the money and still go full tilt against Russia? In fact why not go big grab on all russian assets and finances? Seeing that interference with a countries finances is reason to go to war anyway?

The classic 'safe' response to denounce such terms as '5G' 'new world order' and 'conspiracy' in the public squares of social media

It doesn't matter if you feel your not naive, feelings have nothing to do with anything on the grand chess board of world affairs....only facts matter I'm afraid. All of the above are relevant to the goings on of things today and unless they are spoken of more frequently it shows wether folk fathom what's going on or not.
