Its a monolith that will consume as much money that can be thrown at it. More and more of the budget is spent on management, advisors, p.c. projects, etc, but not on the sharp end, nurses, doctors, health professionals, etc. Just look at the health minister, a degree in PPE and employment history in finance........no medical expertise whatsoever. But we have no viable alternative. Comprehensive health insurance is out of reach to most. Health "tourism" is insane, they wouldn't get away with it anywhere else, so why do we tacitly allow it ? If they are made to pay up front, it would go to the NHS budget, if they didn't want to pay, they wouldn't come, and it would ease the pressure on the NHS. Immigrants should be made to have health insurance until they have paid NHI for at least five years. Nothing will change though, we will still keep throwing money at it.
