But we also have to realise there are families suffering because loved ones have passed due to not being able to access diagnosis and treatments for a whole host of other illnesses because of Covid restrictions ect

And that will play out and impact families and individuals for years to come .

I can only speak from my own experience and we have had good and bad health care for 10 years mate, we have had to go to London to get the best care so I think its a postcode lottery in many ways. Seen no change in our standard care here, I'm sure there are cases where care has been not as good, but the failures of the NHS should be highlighted as much as the plaudits for "free" health care ...it seems to call out the core issues, poor management, money wasting etc etc.

Covid may have highlighted a lot of issues, whether the decisions made are right or wrong will be decided in time i suppose,

If the government are that worried about the NHS being unable to cope why are they dismantling the nightingale hospitals including the biggest one of all in London ......

The NHS is a socialist project, run by capitalist governments, and I include the modern Labour Party in that.

Its a monolith that will consume as much money that can be thrown at it.

More and more of the budget is spent on management, advisors, p.c. projects, etc, but not on the sharp end, nurses, doctors, health professionals, etc.

Just look at the health minister, a degree in PPE and employment history in finance........no medical expertise whatsoever.

But we have no viable alternative. Comprehensive health insurance is out of reach to most.

Health "tourism" is insane, they wouldn't get away with it anywhere else, so why do we tacitly allow it ? If they are made to pay up front, it would go to the NHS budget, if they didn't want to pay, they wouldn't come, and it would ease the pressure on the NHS.

Immigrants should be made to have health insurance until they have paid NHI for at least five years.

Nothing will change though, we will still keep throwing money at it.

Cheers.

I think we may agree on many things, Wilf;

Cheers.
