What does all this look like if you stand back ?

I suppose different things to different people.

Is it a sign of weakness by the US ?

Is it a massive win for the Muslim world ?

Is it a massive flex by the POTUS ?…..

I mean surely it counts as a flex that only two of your ten battle groups can totally dominate a massive country with only very targeted and limited strikes in just over 1 month for the loss of only 13 casualties ?

Surely that’s never been done in all of history ?
Someone is surely looking at that and said “Well, they did that, they didn’t go all in and they kept 90% of their military assets at home….they only used a tiny bit?”
That has to ring alarm bells for anyone else who fancies their chances ?

Maybe they do fancy their chances and think this makes the US look weak, what we do know is, f**k about and find out…..I wonder who wants to find out ?

Bigger than my pay grade so guess we will see.

Something tells me it’s all far from over. Isreal can’t help itself it will make some sort of claim and attack and it will all kick off again. You’d wonder how long they will last without any US help and weapons?

Brutal terrain men who fight hard not wear make up

They've leveled it and what ? That was always going to happen wasnt it ? Prepared for it greatest airforce ever couldn't get air supremacy over iran with 10 planes for 1950 pathetic that it really is beaten by a chinky 2 smoker

Like i said a war of attrition and the Iranians pissed it  the yanks lost as soon as they greatest navy ever ran 1000 miles and couldn't take the straight lol

There are a fair few in work with the same mindset as you almost like you want the USA to lose and be totally humiliated, a very strange view!

I will ask you the same question as I've asked them, what was the other option, sit back hope nothing happens and let Iran and Islam become more powerful across the world ?

As mentioned previously we are not in a fight against people and countries who are after ruling us or taking our resources or land they want to annihilate us, they want us gone, dead.

No wonder country's like Korea and iran want them

he didn't ever mention nuclear weapons though did he, that's the media jumping on his speech which admittedly did sound a tad apocalyptic and the US govt has said that Nukes were not being referenced

I think it’s far too early to tell. Despite my criticism this is a great step towards a good outcome.

My view is that tactically this has shown what the US is capable of once again to the world. Stuff that no other nation could even begin to dream of. But then I don’t think any of that was really in doubt.

Strategically however I don’t think this has delivered anything very positive for the US (or us in the UK).

It has seriously damaged almost all US strategic relations/alliances. Literally everyone has been politically attacked by POTUS and SecWar. After at least a year of being threatened, belittled and economic attacks. You might think that these alliances are meaningless but americas strength is in leveraging being a strong ally. That’s now seriously threatened. They’d need 100 CSGs to do what their current alliances allow them to do.

The petrodollar is in question. It’s backed by military protection. That same military just put all the Arab states under attack. That petrodollar system allows the US to overleverage their economy, to fund that military. It also allows them to project power without expensive carriers through an extensive system of regional bases. And even with all this power and tactical success they were clearly rattled by the Hormuz situation. It showed cracks in even the might US war machines capabilities.

Extending the damage, will be countries now not seeing the US as a reliable supplier of weapons. They’ve made it clear that they will use whatever they can to manipulate ‘allies’ and that needs to be considered a serious risk. For instance if the yanks said “f**k the uk you’re not having anything off us anymore” then we’d have essentially no more jets for our carriers and no more Tomahawks for our subs making our very flashy and expensive carriers almost useless.

Further to this I assumed at the start control of the Straight would starve China, and in fact the opposite happened. It starved us! And consequently sanctions were lifted on states that are actual adversaries, total self harm with that one. I know you don’t see Russia as adversarial but it certainly didn’t help us.

Regime change has not happened, the faces may have changed but the regime has survived. The Kurds want no part in doing the hard work, and why would they after decades of being f****d over by the US (see how this shit comes back to haunt you when reputation matters) and it doesn’t seem like the citizen uprising has come to anything. Nothing like an existential threat to get factions rallying around the same flag!

Extremists will have been given a huge recruitment boost in the same way IS came out of the shitfest that was Iraq.

And finally, now the regime and every other malign regime out there knows for a categorical fact they need a nuclear deterrent. Simply maintaining the knowledge and tools to spin one out when escalation starts is not enough, you need a deployable system now.

But as I say it’s too early. I think this cease fire is a great step and hopefully Trump will use the intelligent members of his administration to do what he does well, make a deal.
