Match was decided by a refereeing mistake. French defender wrongly penalised for handling and the French didn't manage to clear from the free kick. Match was so finely poised that's all it took to swing it. Payet should have been kept on IMO as he and Pogba are the main threats, but to be fair neither shone last night and Deschamps has been lucky with tactical changes throughout the competition.

 

Also disappointed at the way some of the Portuguese players feigned injury to try and get their opponents sent off in extra time.

I'm glad Portugal won in the end. They were up against it as soon as Ronaldo went off, I said to a mate on Facebook I hope the rest of the team owed it to him after he'd carried them through another tournament.

I flicked onto BBC1 just to see the score. The thing that amused me was Ronaldo with his strapped knee walking the touchline with not a hint of a limp for 30 yards till he remembered, then going into a pantomime limp/hop to make up for not limping previously.

The best one was ronaldo taking off his training top and looking for a new jersey to pose for photos as if he played whole game. You are meant to take off your jersey at the end not put on a clean one.

A very forgettable tournament won by a very ordinary team ,for all his very occasional bits of brilliance ,I think Portugal were a much better team without Ronaldo ,he seems to inhibit the rest of the team ,they are always looking for him and show signs of fear if they don't play what he thinks is the right ball ,too much influence over the team ,he obviously has a say in team selection and tactics .Also the commentators turning it into the Ronaldo show ,he got more mentions than any player on the pitch made me want to vomit all down my Sunderland top .
