Kes Writer Barry Hines Has Died

Recommended Posts

Barry Hines, who wrote the book 'A Kestrel for a Knave', which was the basis for Ken Loach's 'Kes', has died. I first saw the film probably late 70's as a young lad and it fired a fascination and love for the Kestrel and raptors in general that I still have today.

Thanks for that Mr Hines - and RIP

Because we live in a politically correct society and the college educated twats that run our country and film studios have little in common with working folk and the real world,Billy Casper is replace

He had been suffering for a wile with dementia as a freind cared for him a wile back wile in hospital at least hes at peace now (R.I.P.).His brother has just released a book wrote about the kestrals and the filming of kes that should be an intresting read.

I think its a favourite of lads from that era who seen a bit of there lives in that film , though I never had a PE teacher like the character Brian Glover played in Kes ;) , RIP Barry Hines .

I had a PE teacher VERY like him ! A superb film, and a great book for anyone who hasn't read it.
