  1. Yes Arry and Terry and, well anyone looking in. This has turned out better than I expected. We clearly are a bit behind southern climes but still looking good.
  2. It's caul. Not knowing how old or young you are, you may not have seen it used. Bit ago, not showing my age, this was used when making faggots. Indeed, as I write this, there is a bagful in my freezer waiting for the cold weather. Jok.
  3. No mate. I don't use out like that. My garden needs to look like garden not a fairground. Haha. I'll put some pics up next week and you'll see what I mean. Everyone up here is panicking about the frost on Sunday but to be fair, we've been through it all before and still ended up good come harvest. I reckon 1st earlies on June 20th and first pick of runner beans a week later. I've done something as a first. Because I'm on a new allotment in a different village it's best to keep the head down and see what folks are doing around you. Well, all of them grow flowers. So, I've been gifted some dahli
  4. Arry. Yes mate the flicker spade does exactly that. It won't take heavy ground or virgin ground because you would only break the spring. They recommend you dig a small initial trench and then just work your way back and forward. I'd say it at least halves the digging time and to be fair I think it will come into it's own pre winter digging. I bought this for £35 and it cost me nowt to do it up. There must be hundreds out there , in sheds, with bereavement nobody knowing what they are and just clearing them out. New, they are over £100. There are a couple of good vids on YouTube which shows you
  5. I kept 11 some time ago. They mainly rooster in my apple trees but occasionally on the house roof. They are quite entertaining to watch, the eggs eat well, they do make a hell of a clatter and eat well at the end of the day. Jok.
  6. Hells bells 2010. Bet he found something then. For crying out loud. I'm defo past it. Jok.
  7. Is this really old hat. Never even looked ffs. Jok.
  8. Just saw this. We have a little local firm who do that kind of stuff . Withie Willows I think it's called, in Moira near Ashby de la Zouch. If you are fixed then ok, if not, get back to me and I'll scoot up and get a number. Jok.
  9. Just bought this little beauty. Took it apart and refurbed it. No more bending for me I say.jok
  10. Eh up Lee. Got a start the other day but need to get some bits and pieces. The front is as in pictures bacause it was already assembled. Anyway it's on the go pal. I've sent a few boxes over the border over the last few years and in fact met up with one or two as I am originally from Melrose in the Borders. Jok.
  11. Here's my latest gadget. 'the Back Saver'. Took it apart gave it some TLC nice coat of paint, oil on the head and all ready to go. Highly recommended. Jok
  12. Well son. I've just taken delivery of one of these back saver, flicker spades. I watched a 75 year old gentleman turning his plot with complete ease and decided I had to get one. Now they ain't the cheapest but as a work aid they are good. Can't put up pics at mom because have taken the thing apart to repair and repaint. It's looking good if I get it back together again. Have a look as there are a few on eBay. Also, I have an old 5 pronged fork which I bent the tines at about 3 inches to 90 degrees making it a grubber. Great for rucking up potatoes and generally scratting about among plants to
  13. Eh up Terry D. Nice to hear you on here again. ' All I did officer, was nip up to the allotment to make sure my mate hadn't run out of beer'. The bugger had so clearly I had to nip to the offi, grab a slab, take it back and make sure it was ok to drink. Honestly, didn't take more than 2 hours. Steady ride home and Bob's your uncle. Jok.
  14. Hi again guys. Yours truly. Now then I'm after one of them bird scaring kites. Best place?? I've got the granddaughter making a scare crow as a lockdown project but fancy some aerial deterrent. Ideas please.jok.
  15. How I wish our population had a way of getting through to the fckrs in power to voice that exact sentiment. To many this is scandalous but we have no say. My wife is in a very hazardous place and can't get what is required but these people move about with no checks. It really is very bad. Jok.
  16. Same here in the Midlands. Jok.

Eh up Bird. Saw your post and contacted a pal from the military. He recently had some footwear from a company in Leicester which may be called Polimil or very similar. They appparantley have a web site. Might be worth a look pal. Jok.
  18. A little dogs head I put together for a mate.
  19. Gooner. Thanks pal. Just read the link and all's good. Now the hard part. Trying to keep all the others away from my beer hoard ffs. They're like fckg vultures. My mate even brought a bench down which is no way 2 m square, the clown. Anyway, I'm glad we can continue. Got 8 rows of earlies in today, 3 X Jazzi, 3 X Foremost and 2 X Casablanca so all's good. Would like to hear from Terry D on here. ATB. Jok.
  20. Now then you lot. Having predicted this last Friday now it has come to pass. Am I allowed to get in my car and drive , via my newsagents to pick up the daily, onward bound to my daily exercise on the allotment, returning tired and weary, not been in contact with anyone inside 2 metres without getting plod gripping my arm? Jok.
  21. Well Wideboy. Traditionally we , in the Midlands daren't risk potatoes till 3rd week in March never mind planting other crops. I'm impressed you are planted up but with you lot on lockdown it's going to be a problem, assuming you have an allotment. I'm dreading tomorrow's news TBF. I wish you well . Jok.
  22. Well guys. Don't want to piss on your chips but I reckon we have a serious problem. If I'm reading it correctly, we will be housebound within 24 hours. Now my allotment is about 7 miles away and at the moment all I have in are 3 rows of first earlies. Like most of you I am 2 weeks before planting the normal crops. If you've read the news, Lincoln farmers, using 98% imported labour, who are no longer getting supplemented wages, are in the shite. Now then, we can't get to plant and they can't crop so essentially the cost of eating will clearly go through the roof. If I was you, which I am, rows
  23. The Italian Job. Sometime in the 70's. Not exactly a buff am I ffs. Jok.
