  1. Spot on son. Still best to keep them in the shed or greenhouse for another few weeks though. In fact you’ve inspired me to do the same. Thanks. Jok.
  2. Strange olde thing but I’ve never used canes. Always hazel which I cut bi annually. They cost nowt. Just a thought pal. Jok.
  3. Micky. They got back to me. Those canes are available from Hawgrips garden centre at Enderby, leics. 42p each I believe. It might be easier for you to collect direct. The allotment guys are looking for a profit I reckon. Tw-ts. Jok.
  4. Will do in the morning pal. Jok.
  5. Micky. Just had a word with the guys. They are saying 40p each (it’s a bit of a guess cause they could be a few pence eithe way). They would order them in for you on the promise that you will have them. Then, either you can collect from the gardens or I can bring them back to my place which is in Moira. Jok.
  6. Micky. Out of our allotment store. I’ll phone now and get you a price. Jok.
  7. Micky. I get the feeling we are very close geographically. I’ll be setting close to 300 runner bean plants of 3 varieties. Do you want to put your name on a few? Jok.
  8. Mate. The chances of bird damage are about 1/100. As for rabbits. Not a chance. There are no rabbits anymore ffs. Well not here anyway. I bet Terryd would agree with me in that basically there are no pests regarding beans. Get the plants to about 1ft high with the tendril just starting to twist and get them in. Your biggest problem is frost so don’t be hasty. I lost a full row in last years early frost, as well as 14 rows of potatoes. Good luck with your gardening and in particular your runner beans. Jok.
  9. What the heck. Did you introduce yourself properly.? Does anyone know what you enjoy regarding hunting life? Get your head together and have another go. I can’t believe you haven’t been contacted. Jok.
  10. Eh up partner. How the hell are you? Good vid. I imagine you are fully aware of the problems over here not least of which is the general lack of rabbits. There are some places still getting decent numbers but, to be fair, I’ve not seen a hedgerow or even roadkill rabbit for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately got rid of pretty much everything related and doubt I’ll be going out again. Looks like a couple of repairs might be needed on the jok box. Kind regards. Jok.
  11. Wish I new where you are. I haven’t had a rabbit for 2 years. Also, the last black rabbit I had was near Appleby Magna, which, at the time was a rare sight. At the risk of bumping your post, I’ve found someone who may well do repairs to locator boxes. Just saying like. Jok.
  12. Claude. Ah now I see what you mean. I remember when Socks made that one. What I have here is a German made ‘Boker’ with 3 interchangeable blades. We were over there stalking and I just couldn’t resist it. The original sheath was cloth and quickly deteriorated to be replaced with the Buck shown in the pic. Could do with a couple of stitches. I think it’s worth every penny of £75. What do you reckon? Jok.
  13. Claude. How old will your son be starts? What constitutes ‘a small skinning. Knife? I have something that might be of interest. Jok.
  14. Right you guys struggling with your locators. You may remember I introduced you all to Jim Chick, who sadly passed away, who undertook mk1/mk2 grey box repairs. Well, I think I now have a replacement. A lovely fellow from Northants called Colin. Having had a lengthy chat he has agreed to having a go at repairs. I understand he has built his own computer, television, various radios and radio controlled planes so seems like a good bet. What I’ve suggested is that one of you out there has a box and collar that no longer works and is willing to let him have it with a view to a:see how they are put

    Antlers

Good afternoon. This is a bit of a beg. Could do with a full set of skull and antlers. Fallow, Red or Sika. It’s a project and definitely not financially motivated. I live near Ashby de la Zouch in Leicestershire and am more than happy for a little drive out. Can you guys help? Jok.
  16. In order, in my opinion. Broad beans can be planted anytime from NOVEMBER. Early or spring cabbage from late February. March means getting the ground ready with digging and manure going in. (Do not fall in the trap of setting those early potatoes no matter what they say). By now you will be watching the weather and appreciating the temperatures rising so get in the greenhouse or shed, and start getting those seeds set ready for April. You’ll be doing what everyone else is doing. Most folks put all the usual into seed trays ie: lettuce ,cabbage, cauliflower, beetroot( if you wish to plant plug
  17. Out of curiosity would you kindly post a pic of the single terrier box and particularly from the side. Thank you. Jok.
  18. Eh up. I reckon I’d do one for you. Still got loads of bits from I was doing the lightweight ferret boxes. Jok.
  19. The thread you are on about was/is one of the longest, I Think, on here, apart from The One’s welcome to the site. Something like ‘What are we all doing down the veg garden’. I have spent all my time on this forum speaking to like minded folks up and down the country with many pictures showing off at best, our products. It has been a lovely travel. Jok.
  20. Well. For sure you are going to get some responses on this topic I for one have contributed over the years and it is a topic very close to my heart. There are quite a few good guys on here. ‘Never cast a clout till May is out’. You can, in other words rush in, thinking all is well, and then you get, as many of us have done, got burned. What I mean is the dreaded frost. By all means prepare your ground but for goodness sake don’t plant too early. Broad beans can handle loads of cold but believe me potatoes cannot. I lost 14 rows this year. We have just gone through the most traumatic times at th

    Anyone else

Talk about lead with your chin ffs. Haha. Jok.
  22. He’s 66 I reckon. I lived in Northampton at the same time as Santa Pod was in it’s heyday. Brilliant day out. Just as an aside. I had the Lotus mk2 Cortina after having the Anglia and the Escorts. One of the finest, however, was the Urin Savage mk2. That was like driving an aeroplane. When we returned to the UK in 84 we bought the Escort XR3 and then the XR3i. Both brilliant cars. Jok.
  23. Thought you were stuck with bicycles and mopeds on a boat. Jok.
  24. Well, I just had my communique from one of the big auction houses and low and behold, the entire belongings of a Derbyshire pheasant shoot up for grabs. I don’t suppose it’s the first and certainly won’t be the last. The auction list is comprehensive and it’s plain to see that it was a fairly biggish shoot. I’m trying for a few bits but not related to shooting. Jok.
