  1. There was some bred may be around that time for sure. Over in NE I think. Can mind been told of them. Some tale of a huntsman who owed the sire which was either full RB or a half cross. Never seen the dogs but was told by a reliable source.atb
  2. That's my idea of a lurcher He aint what you would call good looking but looks very workman like. He wouldt suit some folk just for his looks but handsome is as handsome does. Another bonus in this day and age with a cur like him is he don't draw much attention. Not crabbing the dog on the contrary cracking mutt. Physically he looks like he may lack that bit of speed but no doubt will make it up in other respects.IMO in years gone by when gypsy and poaching dogs were written about I reckon this type of dog was what was being described .atb.
  3. There is looking fit and being fit. Not taking out away from some cracking looking dogs. Some of them ripped looking dogs might put in hard shift and have nowt in reserve. You don't see many lamping dogs that do big bags night in night out looking like that.Have a look at a real fit fell hound ye looks fit but not ripped as clean as a bull x. Working hard for a prolonged period and not peaking for a short term event any animal needs a bit in reserve. Just look at some of the old time pit dogs. Chain weight n match weight. In most case's the weights being quite different. On the bright side al
  4. Seem to come over UK more in harsher winters. Seen none this year. In 70s when I was a kid can mind some bi flocks. We were picking them up off the ground at the base of buildings n walls etc. At the time and bein very young we thought suicide! Found out years later it was fermenting berrys. They were pissed! Some were dead but some recovered. This often happens in Scandanivian countrys ive read. atb.
  5. Had 3 of them Miner Blue stags years ago lovely birds to handle. The most placid gamefowl I have encountered. Also some of the nicest looking birds ive seen.
  6. Glyn. Such a good likeness to Vic mate, hat's off to you. Hunted with him a couple of times the man is a gentleman and yes cracking hounds. Hope he has a copy of that piece .atb.

  15. Never own another ridgeline.Apart from sweat issue it leaks like hell. Pure shite. The trousers are no better. Kneel down and they are soaked through. First season they seemed ok after that not worth a shilling. Good in the wind if its dry on quad or plotted up. When you pull smock on you can see daylight through material. Days to dry out and stinks while drying! Pure shite.
  16. Out of interest lads was the miniature EBT ever used in anyway. With the obvious size if they were anygood then they would be more suited to being put into earthdog bloodlines. Just a query . Don't know much about EBT so no slaging off lol!
  17. Fuji going back many years would that have been you boys in the then Shooting News with big rabbit and hare bags? Dogs looked very monga like lol. There was more hares then than now for sure can mind seeing 30s in fields wi lamp in some spots. Lamping in its infancy back then. The keepers not long after that era started shooting massive numbers at night. Remember going to one place and see couple hundred hung up awaiting game dealer. My heart sunk all I could think was what a waste of all that sport. Does anyone know if the big daytime hare drives still take place?
  18. i think you are right there grunter it will take over your life if you want to be good at it. ive spent a few seasons on and off with fanciers as ive often thought about giving it ago myself. i consider myself a dedicated person with my running dogs but i just dont think i am dedicated enough to fly pigeons and do anygood. you need to eat sleep and breath pigeons to do well with them imo. perhaps when i slow down with the dogs i might try a few pigeons. Not a word wrong in your post Trigger. You forgot mention tyey are marriage wreckers and most top flyers are in loft partnerships .
  19. Bet a white minshaw fox would cause proper bother!
  20. Somebody would have been under patio by now if they were from brookside close lol Barry Grant wouldn't of done it online.......haha Tommy Mcardle would sort them.

  23. sounds like I have a lot to learn. Can you educate me about hoods too please?
  24. Keep an eye on your dog also. He will do it again. Sure as shit.Never take nowt for granted. Often the most unlikely dogs can kick off . atb.
  25. Breaking stick. Simple as.If you watch docs about sled dogs they all have one at hand hanging off belt.Handy as wouldn"t be half the damage to dogs or people if owners had them at hand. Keep one at hand around kennels too.atb.
