In WW1 anything German wasn't highly regarded so German Shepherd Dogs became known as Alsatians. Same breed, different name. It went back to GSD in the 1960's. The thing with our dogs is that until they get a live bite you don't know if or how the dog will bite on flesh. Training on the padded sleeve gives similar results, but once the dog can't see or sense the presence of a sleeve it does what it wants and there is no easy way of changing it. My first dog was true to the sleeve, but on the streets always took the runners down with the thigh. He brought them down and immediately released

As said, Malis aren't for everyone and their increasing popularity will result in tears just like happended with akitas. We found them too quick regards reactions. They were thought to be faster over the ground than a GSD but that wasn't the case. What they had was a manic aggression that most GSDs didn't have. The GSDs hit harder on impact, but the malis were like sharks, twisting and turning and putting much more effort in once they had latched on. The problem with that in security work is the damage that can be caused. Bean counters would rather have a dog clamp on and cause bruises rather

What put me off joining up is the boot camp program where they had to wipe their arse on one sheet of toilet paper. I've never been a fan of origami.

So could the Catholic Church. They have even more money. Give the Pope a bell and see if he's up for it.

This thread prompted me to look for the book. It came the other day and looks like it will be a good read. Might have to look for the DVDs too. I would love to see how Martin Bowler handled that 15lb barbel on a 1.25lb tc rod at short range without letting it take any line. If that were me the line, rod and hook would have broken.

It isn't the buildings that are in short supply. It is the health professionals to staff those places.

Miss out the refresher course and that's about it. Straight to the fighting units. Flights from Moscow are fully booked and neighbouring countries have said that they will not give sanctuary to fleeing conscripts. Apart from anything else they will struggle to equip, arm and feed them on the front lines.

Sure you are not getting her mixed up with Schofield?

My view is that any reservists who have so far resisted the immense pressure on them to sign up won't be willing to go. This could be the turning point of a revolution. Putin's speech was delayed for over two hours and was watered down from what had been leaked before. The Kremlin are reported to be at war with themselves.

Only Ibrox ? Just think how many reugees could be housed if they knocked Ibrox down and built hostels? Feck Rwanda. The threat of them being sent to Scotland would have them begging the RNLI to take them back to Calais.

Have you ever come across red squirrels on the road? They make chickens look decisive and pheasants perfectly reasonable. Twice this week I've had to stop the car to let Tufty make up its mind which way to go. They are like my wife in a shoe shop.

It could have been so much more theatrical if the Italian army had arranged it. Chaotic and late granted, but oh so theatrical. Until the gun salute that is. Then they'd all have surrendered.

Sorry, should have losted this in the fishing section Finished mole-patrol by 2:30 and I had some tackle in the car so I stopped off at my new favourite location. First I fished a foot deep and was rewarded with a rudd straight out of a Bernard Venables painting. Setting more depth resulted in a couple of small bream either side of some zoo creature that took 20 yards of line before I added more drag and lost the hook link. A carassin came next then what looked like a bream roach hybrid on my fourth last cast. Just under 2 hours and home in time for tea.

Got to admit that I cry whenever I hear the pipes. But not for the same reason as you.

But don't forget that Edward is a thespian in every sense of the word. At the moment he's playing a hetrosexual.

It used to be the norm' for gentlemen to cast their Hardy cane rod with their right hand then swap over to wind the Elerex or Silex reel that were lhw. Being a commoner I just adapt my casting to suit. So, with my vintage rods and reels I cast left handed and wind right handed and with everthing else the other way around. It becomes easier with practice. But I have never used the lower reel mount so cannot confirm it. The modern baitcasters and ABU 6500C are all lefties, but these two are old fashioned righties.
-
I've got lhw and rhw multipliers all used on top of the rod. Initially the rhw ones take some getting used to when you've spent over 40 years winding with your left hand, but eventually it all clicks and it is easy to swap one way for another. Just keep practising in the garden or on some spare ground. You don't need to do full blooded casts. Just gentle lobs to familiarise yourself with them.

Oldham hasn't changed in a millennia. ?

I should think so after losing 6:2 to the Spuds

It was a good idea when it was the EEC, other than the corruption and stupidity of farm subsidies leading to needless over production. It all went wrong when it became a political organisation.Every empire in history has failed for the same reason; people want their own identity and resent it being taken away. The EU don't seem to have learned this lesson.
-
That's not the answer imo. It would dssult in far mord accidental, innocent people being wounded and killed than the lives saved. The way the AFO's handle these situations cannot easily be replicated in spontaneous situations like this. There is a simpler way of increasing the police's response to these incidents. That is to overturn the woke policy of quota filling and return to recruiting big, healthy lads to patrol the streets like it used to be. At the moment the duty groups who respond to these incidents are largely made up of young female officers and the average length of service i

Yes, you are right. I was referring to the EH as in the organisation. There is no such thing as 'The EU' as far as the majority of its population are concerned.
-
That is the whole idealology of the EU.

Sweden have been tipped as being the next country to quit the EU. Their former PM went on record as saying that the UK had cleared the path and done all the heavy lifting. The latest election results seem to indicate that the public are getting impatient. Sweden cannot change its immigration policy while it remains in the EU. Barnier also stated that the immigration policy in France needed changjng to a total block on migrants. Even the Europhiles are waking up to the issue and its political consequences.
