I know lads that have had success in Durham area using old hanging baskets for Long Eared Owls to nest in - similar to the one below and also a couple lads I’m aware of have huge success with their barrel boxes for barn owls.

You can hang a mesh feeder (peanut feeder) and fill it with brushed dog hair/horse hair or wool/yarn or garden string etc and the birds will more than likely start to pluck away at it for nesting material ?
