  1. Thank, yeah it’s Haweswater mate - we sat close to Nan Bield Pass for a brew with a view on the descent from Mardale Ill Bell and heading down towards Harter Fell, we’d been up Riggindale Crag and Racecourse Hill… Cracking day, 7.9 miles ?
  2. Yep, you’ll not go wrong with a Jetboil or the likes, I have the Alpkit Brukit (cheaper copy) which I often use on day hikes when I’m out with my wife, they’re fantastic for boiling a good amount of water rapidly for a cuppa or boil in bag and dehydrated meals…. Down side as mentioned is you can’t really control the heat rate/temp if you like to cook and they’re a little bulky but bombproof… I would 100% always carry a lighter or fire steel/striker as the pezo igniters on these stoves have a tendency to fail after a while…
  3. Great stuff BR, looks like you’re starting to get kit together… That pillow looks identical to the Seatosummit Aeros ? Keep in mind that if you inflate mat/pillow in warmer air, when the temp drops at night it’ll feel like it’s deflated slightly - it’s not the case it’s just because the air contracts when it cools. Hope you get sorted with a pack and sleeping bag, cook systems are as simple or as complicated as you make them - I use my meths burner/stove 99% of the time… Looking forward to seeing some photos of hikes/camps ?
  4. only you can really answer that one buddy… I have 3 different Osprey packs which I’ve had from 18 months to over 4 year and none of them squeak and to be fair, I’ll be buying an Osprey Exos for my summer camps this year as looking to lighten the load/pack weight etc… Whatever you choose to do, make sure you try before you buy for size and comfort.. Keep us updated as to how you get on ?
  5. Trying to get to a cracking little waterfall but fallen trees put an end to that route..
  6. Feel free to mock the whippet in her fleece but she done cracking at -5° with -9/10° windchill
  7. Too cold for brickies so a day in the hills was called for… Just perfect conditions…
  8. 100% there’s a good few on there ? It’s also a birders paradise, lots of rare birds come in off the sea and Easterly winds…
  9. To be fair after I’d shared/posted it I thought it was canny harsh but can’t find any way of deleting it…
  10. Absolutely, talk about making yourself and all your family a main target - f**king idiot…
  11. @Bush Rummager Just last week Go outdoors had the new Atmos 65 on sale for £150 which was an absolute steal… Go outdoors will beat any price by 10% so you could get it for £170 if you show them the link if it’s in your budget as like you say it’s mega comfy if not a little heavy… https://www.wiggle.co.uk/osprey-atmos-ag-65-hiking-backpack-1?lang=en&curr=GBP&dest=1&sku=109758205&utm_source=google&utm_term=&utm_campaign=&utm_medium=base&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIqebVp8ez_AIVmKztCh0J6Qp0EAQYAiABEgI-jPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Outside pouch/pocket of any
  12. Nightmare, I hate been cooked up and not able to get out… You narrowed it down to a few packs then ?? ?
  13. Thanks mate, Got few days left off work and done all the family Xmas stuff may get a couple camps before I’m back… With the right/appropriate gear it’s easy to get out year round and be extremely warm/dry/comfortable… Yes, I’m in the Scottish side of the Cheviots - only about 1 1/2hr walk up from the car ?
