  1. As much as I dislike what the EU has become, if it did collapse, I would be more than happy for the UK to be part a European trading zone. You could even give it a fancy name like European Economic Community.
  2. Or maybe the scientists want to remain in the EU because their jobs receive a lot of EU funding? My reasons for leaving the EU is to give us the opportunity to cut immigration, save money by scrapping the UK's membership fee, have UK laws made in Westminster, and to allow the UK to set up trading agreements with whoever we like. I see no reason for the UK to discontinue cooperation or funding with European countries when it comes to security or scientific research.
  3. You joking? That'd draw the little pricks to them like flies to shiit! We don't have basic accountability down yet,I'd prefer we start with that and see what happens. No , The pricks will be sick after watching Tyson getting juiced for no insuranc I cannot for the life of me understand why the breeders are not held accountable alongside the owners They'd probably move on to other breeds like Alsations, Malinois or Ovcharkas. If they faced restrictions then they'd end up backyard breeding dangerously aggressive Labradors.
  4. Lol, that's assuming there's an EU for the naive and deluded to vote us back into.
  5. A real populist does what the majority of the people want, rather than what he decides is in their interests. I would vote for a real populist over an elitist any day.
  6. I'm disappointed she lost but it was to be expected. Maybe she will increase her popularity between now and the next French presidential election, and that will finish off the EU if it's not already gone by then. I can only hope.

    Poverty

Nobody owes you anything. The only person that's going to get you out of poverty is yourself. Don't moan about it, make sacrifices to get yourself retrained or re-educated, and look for better work.
  8. There ain't enough spent on mental health in this country, resulting in too few hospital beds and the wrong people having to deal with those who suffer from lunacy, such as the police and prison service. I think the closure of the asylums was seen as a cost cutting measure, rather than putting the money that would've been saved saved into adequate supervision and treatment.
  9. Hopefully some good news will come of this: http://thenewdaily.com.au/news/world/2017/05/03/trump-putin-constructive-call/
  10. It should work as long as there's air/oxygen in the bulb.
  11. In other news, Turkey bombed a YPG HQ. This has caused the Kurdish YPG to halt their advance on the ISIS strongholds of Taqba and Raqqa. There may be a Turkish push on the YPG soon, as they've told the US to get their forces out of the area.
  12. That looks a decent setup they have there. At the bare minimum I could get away with a squat rack, bar and plates. When I was abroad a while back the small 'gym' I was using had all the equipment made out of scrap metal welded together. The plates for the bar were roughly cut rectangles of metal with a hole cut in the middle I'll see if I can find some pics later.
  13. Labour camps, then deportation would probably put a fair few of them off illegally entering Europe.
  14. Vote for brexit, vote for the union, vote for a less f****d up economy, vote Conservative.
  15. Here's a load more pictures of the same mine from someone I know: https://flic.kr/s/aHsjaoA8ka
  16. Here's a working coal mine in the north of England showing the height of the road:
  17. Much of the coal worked underground in the UK is still worked by hand. Either shot blasted or cut with pneumatic picks before being shovelled into tubs.
  18. On the subject of coal, that's another Welsh smallmine shut recently
  19. Now that we've shut most of the coal fired power stations in the UK, we're generating most of our electricity from burning more expensive imported gas, having built a load of new gas fired power stations over the past ten years. http://www.gridwatch.templar.co.uk/ I think we should've stuck with coal, and spent the money we would've saved on research into future technologies like fusion and thorium reactors.
  20. Maybe they'll bring back Tony Blair to replace Corbyn once he gets booted:D
  21. I wonder if this is the start of a longer term plan to curtail Iran's influence in Syria. I wish the US would stick to supporting the YPG and bombing ISIS.
  22. I do enjoy eating meat and hunting if I can get the chance. The line stops at animals that are normally kept as pets, as they are considered by me to be 'honourary humans' if you understand what I mean. For that reason I wouldn't eat animals like cat, dog, horse, hamster or monkey. The animal rights extremists tend to think of all animals as 'honourary humans'.
