ISIS takes advantage of the missile strike: https://mobile.almasdarnews.com/article/us-cyber-attack-shuts-al-masdar-news-five-hours/

Things will become clearer when Rex Tillerson visits Russia next week. Russia and the US will likely come to some sort of an understanding towards Syria.
-
Trump and Xi Jinping might have an interesting discussion over North Korea later.

There was a much higher number of flights between Syria, Russia and Iran earlier, indicating they were either expecting, or had been forewarned of an attack. Hopefully only one strike and they're out.

Probably less likely to be the option Trump chooses: https://theintercept.com/2017/04/06/u-s-weighs-saturation-strike-on-syrian-government-in-response-to-chemical-attack/ Although: https://mobile.almasdarnews.com/article/us-warships-ready-launch-missiles-syrian-army-targets-given-order/

It always has been before in Syria so that's a safe assumption to make, it's just the usual way of dealing with these agents. It is the sensible and safe way of handling these chemicals. Whether the rebels are followin' proper 'elf 'n' safety reg's is anyone's guess.

^^^This assumes that the sarin would have been stored in a binary state.

Oh feck, that muppet Tim Farron's on as well.

From a few years back. I wonder how many were not declared, and I wonder how many ended up in rebel hands.

Who would've guessed it, the Syrian branch of Al Qaeda use the lull in Russian air support to launch a counter attack on the Syrian Army: https://mobile.almasdarnews.com/article/islamist-rebels-regain-upper-hand-northern-hama-full-battlefield-report/

Was sarin used or were people exposed to some other type of chemical? Sarin is a colourless and odourless gas, and reports talk about a cloud of white smoke with a pungent smell.
-
Both sides have used chemical weapons in the past. The day after it happened America is now talking about taking about action in Syria against Assad. That does other bode well for the Syrian Army who has been doing well lately.
-
Take it with a pinch of salt then. Maybe the Syrian Army did drop chemical bombs, maybe it was the jihadists making a false flag attack, or maybe a jihadist chemical weapon stockpile was blown up. I doubt it will end up proven either way. I personally think it was unlikely to have been the Syrian Army as they have most to lose from the attack.
-
What makes you say that? According to the reports the gas came from chemical bombs dropped from planes, the jihadists certainly aren't capable of carrying out airstrikes. That seems to be the consensus from what I've read elsewhere. Both sides are believed to have, and have used chemical weapons. It doesn't make sense for the Syrian Army to use them when they are winning in the area, can achieve the same results using conventional bombs, and would expect to face an international outcry if they're used. It will probably be unlikely to prove exactly what happened. Those who want Assad deposed will

Sounds like a false flag attack by the jihadists to drum up international support against Assad, seeing they're getting their arsed handed to them at the moment.

I consider myself a Christian though I don't follow any denomination. I read the Bible as an allegory to guide you how to live your life in a positive way. What I take from it is that you should try and help others and behave less like a c**t. I also believe there's a benevolent creator, and when you die it'll be a transition to another type of existence rather than nothingness. That makes me comfortable with death. I'm not interested in who begat who, and if people want to slag off Christianity that doesn't bother me as I keep my religion to myself (apart from just now ).

Real populism is politicians implementing the will of the people rather than the views of the elites. That's not how the media uses the term. Regardless of how Trump is performing I'm sure as he hell glad it ain't Clinton in the White House. I'll wait till he's been in office for a year before I pass judgement.

I commend Dogman and Katchum, this thread has kept me entertained for a wee while

I wonder how the firms that rely on foreign workers coped before we were in the EU? As mechanisation increases many of the low skilled jobs that are done by foreign workers will be done by machines.

What companies will be leaving London?

Why on earth would OAP's not get the vote? That is the one group I would trust the most as they have a lifetime of knowledge and experience behind them, unlike naive and idealistic 16 and 17 year olds. For anyone who rubbishes the GER's figures, I would recommend that you have a read through this to see how they're compiled: https://fraserofallander.org/2017/03/28/estimating-scotlands-fiscal-position/amp/

Ah yes, the 'new' oilfield that was discovered a few years ago and is unlikely to produce oil because of very bad geological conditions making it too expensive to extract. A coincidence that the story appeared just as Hurricane Energy is looking for new investment?
