  1. That was a good wee bag you got and more land for another day ☺.
  2. Think your right there S.H every animal has its part in nature even humans. Very easy to upset the balance. You take away the rabbit and the foxes and other predators start eating more lambs and game birds.
  3. i like trout and salmon fishing but the price of a licence here is a joke, plus i dont catch that many, i prefer the sea fishing i seem to catch more and its nice when you catch something different.
  4. Lol. Good on you jok im only 38 but i feel it today. Back and legs are sore and it doesnt help iv been loaded with a bug the past few days. It has to be done though, i start climbing the walls if i dont get out. Time to sort the fishing gear out for me too.
  5. its around a five mile walk from my house to where i go and i dont have a car at the moment so the walk can be hard enough if your not used to it. I took two young fellas out with me once and i havent saw them since. they were in bits after it and they only had to carry seven rabbits between them.
  6. What is vhd ?. Flook seems to knock them hard in places too.
  7. I would agree, myxy and vhd do take their toll, but not to the extent that lads across the country are saying the same thing, maybe its just one of the cycles of nature, for instance when I was a lad there were starlings everywhere, millions of them, now you hardly see one, peaks and troughs I guess, but I am confident that the bunnies will bounce back, myxy damn near finished them in the 50s, and they recovered from that, so fingers crossed.
  8. It is hard work. Carrying nets spade lunch and keeping a pup under control that wants to chase rabbits in the next field when things are quiet and boring to her. Then you have the weight of the rabbits you catch to carry too. But still i love to get out.
  9. Went out yesterday to a great wee spot where i have permission. Just a few fields which are overrun with rabbits. So get there decide to ferret along a fenceline first. I get my long net out and start running it along the fence which isnt easy due to it being very windy and im on my tod. get it sorted and throw my wee jills in and get my wee dog into position beside me. Waiting for ages and nothing is happening. I get the locater out and can see the ferrets are still moving about then two rabbits bolt from a hole right next to my feet, one hitting the net and the other running the opposite way
  10. never saw many rabbits here in ire where i am for about 16 year. Now there seems to be plenty around. Mixy almost wiped them all out. Heard last year a woman was looking for a mixy rabbit because the rabbits were digging up her grass in her garden but she didnt want anyone on her property hunting them because her kids are animal lovers and they wouldnt like to see bunnys getting killed. Dont think they understand how mixy works. Place where i go hunting now is crawling with rabbits.
  11. does he bring the rabbits out the burrows and put them in the carrier for you once hes caught them ?.
  12. Paisely patterned shirts, baggy jeans, denim dungarees, furry hoodie jackets and fila trainers. oh and shell suits.
  13. Albino hob i had years ago done it good few times, i reckon it was cause he couldnt see well and couldnt tell if he was in the burrow or not. The bews and polecat coloured one i have now, no chance, if they catch near the entrance to a burrow the rabbit gets dragged back down the hole kicking and screaming.
  14. brilliant videos and brilliant stuff your doing with them mink. iv a big hob ferret that done the exact same to my wee terrier but he doesnt do it to my lurcher, cause she doesnt take his crap off him. Id love to get a mink but at the moment dont have the time to train one and its illegal to keep them here without a licence. have you had much success training wild ones? Keep up the good work ☺.
  15. Lol, more bunnys for next year. Elevens an decent bag.least your getting out to do a bit.
  16. gerbils are viscious wee fecks. i actually like rats more than than gerbils, the pet ones that is. Still no denying wild rats carry a load of diseases that they can pass on to us and other animals which do cause serious health problems and fatality's. Il still kill them when i see them. Dirty things.
  17. Story of my life mate. Just as i get money saved something comes up then my funds are either down or gone. some of us have no luck but sh1t luck .
  18. Get a couple of decent collies. Their good loyal gaurd dogs, there noisey when somebodys about and have no problem biting the arse off strangers coming on to your property. just have a sign up to let people know they are there.
  19. Could be an otter. your next to the sea and eggs are going missing. have you lost any ducks or hens ?.
  20. Aye it was just a nip. Iv never been on the recieving end of a serious bite but iv saw it happen a couple of times. One of the worst ones i saw was last year. I got a adult jill of a boy and had it only a couple of hours. I told my wee lassie not to go near her. She says ok daddy. Im sorting the other ferrets out and turn round to see her stick her finger in the cage. Fook me i thought the jill was gonna take her finger off. 5 hrs in casualty for sticky glue a plaster and smart comments off the doctor. Shes not touched a ferret since. Got rid of that jill too.
  21. He must of being playing the last ferret that bit me didn't let go to easy and hurt like hell, still got a scar now lol
  22. classic lol. them dogs know their game, caught it as it hit the ground. cracking dogs and good video.
  23. knife, flint, long net, tent, sleeping bag and multipack of bog roll.
  24. Only used mine twice on rats but it wasnt putting them down holes. Once under my shed and the second time behind a green house with my hob. If that counts as ratting. They were only small enough but they put up a fight.
