  1. You can post pics direct if you keep them below 500KB total. Click on " More post options" at the bottom. Single shot Ultra!
  2. I thought it was .22 to start with. A better scope will help with the hmr. I've just got rid of mine as the wind deviation was getting me frustrated and have got a Hornet but I did like the hmr. Have you had a fiddle with the trigger yet or is it OK?
  3. Celtic - John Stott - I have an Anshutz 1417 bolt for daytime shooting, no problem grouping at 100 yards, I sometimes stick a lamp on that. As for sticking - I use a rotary toothbrush to clean round the chamber area, gets right into the crevices.
  4. The key term is 'in the dark'! Who is going to see it ! Bit like a gold plated trigger except they are just ornaments and no use. It's a Pitch Black Hunter, made in the UK and very useful within it's limitations. Just after I zero'd it I popped a rabbit at 55 yards standing, just takes getting used to. Totally self contained and can be used off the rifle as a spotter before switching on the laser on the Hornet. Built in battery lasts for ages. Very good for finding the dog when it buggers off with a rabbit !! Wasted_for_ever - I wish it did double as a camera then I could make som
  5. You know, I've got a blacksmiths shop and never thought about round bar for ammo !!! Does it fly true not being spherical?
  6. Can you get air bottles filled up there ? If not your stuck with a hand pump for pcp. Springers don't have that problem but pcp's shoot better out of vehicles, doesn't matter if you rest them on a hard surface as much as springers.
  7. Nipped out last night to zero my NV ready for the weekend. Don't let anyone tell you that the Ruger 10-22 is not accurate! 5/8" reflective dot.
  8. In that case it was probably an old buck. Out of the freezer and not labelled !
  9. You do realise that every fox in your area will have gone on holiday !
  10. 1 1/2" isn't too bad at 100 yards, especially in the wind. Make sure you can get them all touching at 50 yards and you should be OK. As an aside - .22 lr is more affected by the wind than .17 hmr's.
  11. Deep fried grey squirrel with a hazel nut sauce !!
  12. I sometimes parboil my rabbit and strip the meat before further cooking. Question is - if I over boil it will it get tougher? The other night I forgot the pan and it boiled for 1 1/4 hours ! The meat was really rubbery and quite tough so I don't know if it was an old buck rabbit or how i boiled it. The dog enjoyed it though !
  13. In the summer when stews are a bit too much I parboil the rabbit, pull the meat off and slice it small then fry in very hot oil in a wok to crisp it. Add a sachet of sauce ( sweet and sour, chile and garlic etc.) fried onions and /or tomatoes, handfull pf raisins. Packet of microwave rice and bingo ! You can also fry the pieces very crisp and store in the fridge, eat them like pork scratchings.
  14. It doesn't touch the barrel as it is concave on the upper surface. As for pressure on the cylinder - I don't know. It was on the rifle when I got it, never been any issues with leakages though. I don't use it.
  15. Do you mean something like this? Weaver rails clamped onto the cylinder with a weaver bipod underneath. I've got this one going spare.
  16. I've got my decoys out but have been waiting for hours ! Am I doing something wrong ?
  17. I love a full moon, even if it's not so good for rabbits detecting you. I find it a sureal experience wandering round the moon lit countryside, especially if it's calm and quiet.
  18. Andyf - the rimmed cartriges on my .22 Hornet jam up like that sometimes. I'm going to cut a hole in the side so I can get a fingernail in to pull the lower round down.
  19. I see you are a fan of SMK rifles, where do I find them on the net? I only seem to come up with springers.
  20. I have a rigged-up spring compressor, works very well, different shaped blocks for different rifles. Just an old sash clamp!
  21. John - if you're a farmer there is probably enough stuff around to make a dozen !
  22. Coypu - I've ordered a Maccari spring - see how it goes !
