    It sounds strange to me to criticize someone for taking a couple of rabbits to start a young pup, I guess you do things differently to here in oz, if I could show you some of the heat and grounds I have seen dogs run on over here... Anyway I wish you all the very best

    i have really enjoyed this thread, you are all class skycat! thanks for sharing your experiences and knowledge.The working airedaile seems like a fantastic animal, i am not in a position to own one right now but i believe i would have alot of fun if i did/could get a good one. i hope this breed thrives as a working breed. atb.

    If you are not happy with the dog get rid of it, life is too short to waste time on something which makes you unhappy. You only have to justify to yourself that you put enough effort into the dog and if it is worth keeping. I wish every dog was a perfect match for every owner but sometimes you have to make difficult decisions. I hope she turns out for you.

    I am glad to hear this topic as I have never done my dogs, but I have bought pups where the breeder has proudly informed me of all sorts of injections (which was added on to the bill) and I have never carried on the trend. I was a little worried my dogs would drop dead one day! (hasn't happened so far) I can now rest assured! Thank you to all for sharing your knowledge and experience.

    i loved this thread! an interesting history of the strong dog and i can definitely see the attraction and use of the strong dog. i think the purpose of the competition was more for fun and socialising and a bit of 'work' the dogs. it certainly wasn't a competition that ruins the working ability of the dogs like the dog shows today.

    Work the dog and work it some more, and if it still doesn't start you must have great patience and if you run out of patience shoot the mutt and get another one

    I like how you say we enjoy watching our quarry as much as hunting them. It is not understood how much most hunters love their quarry and the land they are part of. Keep the love hunters and things will change for our benefit!

    Yes they can, and yes they do.... Plod will say regular they have witnesses in INITIAL interview there are way for police to manipulate the law the same as any one and they do. There sneaky liars wasteing time money and effort when some ones granny's getting beaten for a fiver! You can't run a hare but the government lets up boil lobsters alive force feed geese and keeps hens in cages. It's daft. Suggestion lets leave the dogs at home and forget the walk and go town get pissed up and batter some one at least then we only get a caution rather than a driving ban the dogs murdered the car dest

    well written and makes perfect sense to me. it would be good if we could find something to protest against the greenies and the do gooders! how did they ever get the numbers to affect hunting.... what is next.....
