  1. Animal fat has worked a treat for me in the past for the exact same problem. Add it to its normal food and with the amount of work you are doing you should see results very quickly. I used beef fat but lamb or pork should work too. Atb.
  2. please don't.Don't worry about Teddog, but PM me a copy of any pictures you send sniper. Lol.
  3. Beautiful animals, good to hear you enjoy them and can fit 7 lurchers into your life and keep them all in such good nick. I particularly like 2,5 and 7 but I would love to see all 7 cut loose in an a big open field! Happy hunting and atb.
  4. By the look of that melon he's thrown a lot to the bull! Nice looking pup, I hope he adds something to your pack. Atb.
  5. Big front end, big back end, small head and body! I know looks mean absolutely nothing and I don't mean offense but I have never seen anything built like him. Does he do the job? Probably the angle of the photos but I think she is all in proportion. She has a strong front, a deep chest and a lovely long back. She keeps me very happy, never looked back once she started. P.s. no offence taken Good to hear she does well for you. Atb.

  7. most off the dogs in england havent seen a box and the ones that have you wont hear about on hereYou are not wrong there snapper they are kept close in a tight circlesAnd rightly so, when the wrong crowd gets involved in any game it is usually to the detriment of the ones who seek the truth
  8. He said maybe true not all pits bite hard or have heart. The lad sounds well intentioned to me, not like wishing to breed for an ego boost (i hope I am right) or to look hard. A pit will not lose its unique genetic strengths in one generation otherwise there would be no point breeding it to a greyhound or anything else because all its good points would be gone by not breeding it to another dead game pit. I am sure if he had a better option he would use a proven dead game pit with a bite like an alligator. Why are people so quick to assume things and attack with such conviction when using a key
  9. Obviously it would be better to use a tested dog, but that can be hard to find for some people. If the dog has what you consider the right conformity, temperament, drive, bloodlines, etc and the only thing it hasn't proved is that it will fight to the death I don't think it is a huge gamble to use to breed a lurcher(different if breeding for other purposes) if you want a good bull first x and that is your best option I personally would do it. It might not make you as much of a purist as some on here but who can rise to the lofty heights of thl cyber legends. I would still be prepared to cull t
  10. cheers silversnake me and roybo will pop down next season and run a few hogs with the pups lolLet me know when you are coming, hog, hare, fox, sometimes cats. We would have to be very careful not to slip when there are kangaroos around as we wouldn't want to accidentally put a bull x on a big buck roo... There are some fallow around too but the dogs can only flush and bail them. It would be nice to bring a young pup for his education, he could go missing too.lol. sounds like a fab plays to hunt.bet seeing them roos up close would put most dogs off lol.love to see what the pups would make of

  12. I hope you are happy teddog, you annoyed everybody, ruined a good thread, made yourself look a fool and bailed, I hope you are a better dog man than you are a man....

  15. I love these bull x threads, no lurcher looks as impressive as a bull x IMO. Roybo what % bull x is your pup? good luck with him I would have loved a pup from that litter.
  16. 70- is a big night, I would definitely want my dogs well fed before a night like that!
  17. i have no problem lamping hares or really even summertime hares as long as you are not wiping out the population and you are harvesting them. i don't want to sound like moral police but hares are fine sport and if you don't leave any for winter daytime i would feel i am missing out.
  18. i think all this starving talk is quite exaggerated. i don't believa a dog is tarving by skipping one meal. i was under the impression before races, pit, etc dogs were not fed, though i could be wrong. i know i would not want a belly full before a sprint.
  19. Of course you wont Hurt it mate its a animal. That's a relief! All the science and passion on here does my head in sometimes. I do respect peoples effort, experience and research but some people I guess just like a heated debate.atb
  20. It's what you do with it after, which determines it IMO.... Have to laugh when you hear the coursing men go on about respect, when most of the hares end up in a ditchlol very true thou If this is true that is a disgrace. If hares are genuinely a pest to crops or something like that they should still be at least dog food. Nothing good will ever come from killing animals for fun and I hope all hunters learn to respect their prey and the environment which sustains it. Atb.
  21. so what about in summer (off season i believe) or when/if the dog has a couple of days off would it be detrimental/beneficial to skip a meal? as i said earlier my dogs miss every now and again but not before a hard day or night. i am sure not every body (good on those who do) works their dogs 7 days a week. am i harming my dogs? i have not noticed any negative effects.
  22. i would not tolerate a dog aggressive dog no matter what quarry i was hunting as my dogs more often than not have to hunt in a pack. I have owned a grey/stag x ridgeback that loved nothing more than taking foxes and i happily exercised him in the local dog park with numerous types of dogs from tiny to x large and never had an issue even when he was attacked by some overzealous terrier, kelpie or whatever. when he was with a big pack of boardogs he would get a little nervous though and he could not be trusted with cats at all.
  23. good luck, it is good to have new people getting into field activities, particularly these types. Please look after anyone who helps you, your permissions and especially your dogs. When you do good noone will mention it but when you do bad the news will travel a thousand miles. ATB and happy hunting.
