that is the only difference mate. i would perfer mamba to viper on rimfire because you dont need target turrets on rimfire i think if your only vermin shooting
-
there are alot of people that use hornady mate so i cant see it being the brss that was your problem. see how it go's and if it does it again tell them you want a new howa never mind new brass

was told not to shoot without the mod becaus of the noise. was told not to shoot without the mod becaus of the noise. You certainly can shoot it without the mod, it will be noisier but just wear some ear muffs. Good Luck. Regards SS yes wear ear denfenders. wouldnt do your ears much good else ! i havent a mod on my 22/250 at the moment but ALLWAYS WEAR EAR DEFENDERS the 204 and 22/250 is more then likely one of the worst rifles for noise with out mod because of the speed. and you dont want to damage your earing

how about a simmons 6.5x20x50. you can get them for the usa for 100 pound.

how old is the rifle have you had it from new ? it shoulnt be off like that to be honest what scope have you got ? make sure that and the mounts are ok on it and if you have a silencer on it clean it if it comes apart. give the barrel a good clean with some copper remover like butchers bore shine. then patch it out after say 20 or 30 mins. you barrel could be dirty and need a good clean

hi mate you can have that simmons i have for £100 pound posted i have just got a new scope

i have buy 200 and hold 250 for my 22/250 which was good really but have the same for 22lr and hmr. i have asked to have that put up to buy 500 keep 600 but they wont ?

hasnt ben taylor and son got a shop round there to ?
-
didnt they use airdale terriers years ago for otters to ?

in west mercia there perfer you to have hmr and not 22lr. the flo officer here looks up on 22lr as one of the most dangerorus rifles out them all !
-
i agree with you in a way mate. it dont matter if your in the highlands or in the west midlands you still have to make sure the shot is safe. but the police in scotland go by the fact that its more remote so there is less chance of someone getting injuried which seams silly to me but i guess the police down here just cover there back. i have 22/250 and to use it i have to be with a mentor it doesnt say a mentors name on my ticket it can be anyone who has owned one or still has one. i dont mind as i perfer to shoot with someone then on my own its safer i think. i no other people

a closed ticket is one what will have the name of the farm you shoot over on. this would have been passed by the police. a semi open ticket is one which says " the .22 rimfire rifle (s), sound moderator (s) & ammunition shown on this certificate shall be used for shooting vermin & for zeroing on ranges, or land deemed suitable by the chief officer of police for the area where the land is situated & over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot " so you could go to a friends farm and shhot as long as it was passed for your rifles. so if you have 22lr and hmr but his l

i see most people that are on the forums i go on that live in scotland and the areas around it get open ticket right away. its most likey that fact you have so much land there and its more remote.

when i put in for a open ticket .they sent me letter back sayin that i can put in for a open ticket. after 3 years that for FAC air rimmy and my CF hope this helps W.D thats good mate. i have 2 more years to wait if thats the same up here. but your force isnt as stricked as ours i bet mind you they have been good to me so far. i guess its a number of things like how long have you had the guns, they look at how much ammo you get and your using, and if you it them with a load of farms you want passing to shoot over if they are not all ready passed that could help you i bet

mr logic was right when he told me 22/250 was dear to run i dont mind spending £11.50 on 50 rounds of ammo for the hmr because 20 federal rounds for the 22/250 is 25 pound lucky for me i dont use it that much at the moment so im not to bothered. i will be getting reloading kit soon anyway

i think 12 ftlb 22cal is poo there to loopy get the 177 its more forgiving and a wekk placed head shot on a rabbit out to 45 yards will drop him no problem. i have a 177 air arms s410k at the moment. and ive had to others as well both in 177 there so easy to shoot. ive had 22 cal in rapidmk 1 and mk 2 and got rid of them there just to loopy inless you go fac thats when they come into there own. ive shot wood pigons and doves off trees on my shoot well hide up in the barn with 177 12ftlb air rifle at ranges you wouldnt think it would. and before anyone says you should keep it bel

get one of those little nylon brushes and give the mag area and around the bolt area a good brush.

i cant see why cleaning the barrel has anything to do with it not ejecting the empty round ? is the wax of the winny ammo clogging up the extractor ? try some different ammo and see how it is then

ruger is one of those rifles you love or hate i think ive shot a 10/22 and it was fun. but i perfer blot action anyday. is it the 10/22 your on about or a bolt action ruger ? Its the bolt action he's getting, so what is the best ammo for it then lads?? My old man knows more about guns than I do but he cant use the computer, ha. he struggles with the t.v remote, so its been left to me to find out about it. Must say though the more i go out with him and the rifle the more i enjoy it. I think the bug is about to bite me. ha. just buy a box of different ammo and see which one g

You get an Open Certificate by demonstrating, ability, knowledge, safety, consideration, consistancy, maturity, history and anything else that helps! The odds of you getting an Open Certificate on your first grant are remote to say the least (although it has been known)...and what happened to the other 500 acres ..it was 2000 yesterday not 1500??? i would like open ticket but have no chance. in less i showed good reason. i will apply for one in a couple of years or at least try and get the 22lr and hmr open anyway. fac shotgun next for me i hope

I agree Jamie, I think that the HMR will kill in the chest if the little bullet is put in Exactly the right place, i.e. You know exactly where the Heart or Lung is on a fox. If you are not Absolutely sure then the head shot is the most certain way as you can visually see the area you are aiming at, i.e. as Jamie said, between the Eye and Ear. If you plan to shoot foxes with a HMR, then you need to know exactly where it is shooting and would have spent some time punching paper. As for range, I know they will more than likely have the energy to kill a fox cleanly in the head at 1

i wouldnt go for chest shot with the hmr but thats just me. a head shot is the best with hmr i find. sideways on between the ear and eye. some say head shot is risky in case you hit them in the mouth but if you no the rifle and you shoot rabbits at 100 yards + in the head you should find a clean head shot up to yards on a fox easy. a body shot on a fox with hmr is to inconsistant i think. its only a little bullet and if it dont hit the right bit wont make the right amount of damage to kill him out right imo anyway

open ticet is when the land doensnt have to be passed mate. in other words as long as you have permission to shoot the ground you can use your riles there with out it being checked by the police. its left to you to think weather its safe or not. as long as you have the said '' rifles for that purpose ie vermn control. you couldnt take the 308 target rifle there shooting if you havent got it down for vermin or deer on your ticket

ask for open ticket
