  1. i did ask this question on r7oc which i am a member of & sam of cs firearms in manchester replied with this & i think this is good advice from a good gunsmith. dusty. Not impressed tbh mate. Sako do make a quality rifle, the old 75's are superb, they recently replaced them with the 85 model which, although nice, ain't in the same league for my liking, neither is the quad. I'm going to sound like an old fart now but "they don't make them like they used to". I think the quad is a bit gimmicky with the interchangable barrel, hence the appeal. You can spend big money o
  2. no mate its best to include a letter of permission with your fac from the farmer. i got mine to write one out saying i ........ giver permission to jamie... to do vermin control on my land with rimfire, centrefire, shotguns, air rifle. any rifle acording to his ticket which he has been granted for. i cant see why you cant use the farmer as your refrence ? but i wouldnt because to me it looks like he is doing it for you as you want to shoot on his land so mite be better if you get someone who is from a differnt walk of life who no's you.
  3. as above your be fine fella good luck i bet you cant wait to get it
  4. try privi ammo to you never no your rifle mite like it. 40's will go well in your rifle but over longer range i would stick to 50 or 55gr will hold better in wind
  5. yes put down mods for both. i wrote out on a piece of paper and added it in with the forms ie'' why you want 22lr and why you want the mod on it ? same with hmr why you want it and the mod for my mods i put down i wanted them because i didnt want the exta noise with out mods. didnt want to scare live stock on the land and didnt want the houses around the area to have to put up with the loud noise. and for the safety of your hearing to. 22lr ground vermin ie'' rabbits, crows, wood pigeon and to use at night to keep noise down as hmr is more noisy hmr i put long range ground v
  6. nice one daz you wont go wrong. thats what i like about baz he is honest and wont sell you something he thinks is crap or what you dont need un like some gunshops like we have round here ! your really like the winchester mod 70 im sure. when you get it put up some pics of it
  7. hi sean your right jsb make the air arms pellets to but the skirts on the air arms seam more brittle then the jsb tinned ones.
  8. you wont go wrong with buying from baz or his mate chris. is the rifle screwcut allready / if not chris's work its very good and cheap to ! he only charged me £25 pound for the screwcut and recrown and you want to see the face on it you can see your face in it its that shinny chris tweeked the trigger for me well he had the stock off. and baz sorted me the mounts and base's out cheap couldnt be more happy with it go get one daz you wont be sorry. atb jamie
  9. depends what one you want ? annie, sako,cz,savage ? then there is what barrel lenght to ? annie's and sako are the same but the longer barrel cz rifles are cheaper then the shorter 16 inch barrel ones i have found. guess its because its more popular ?
  10. put down for both and if it passes but he says you can only have one then at least you have tryed. as for 20 acres it dont really matter what size the land is as long as its a safe shot AND YOU HAVE REASON TO NEED TO RIFLES. i would say you want hmr for the day and 22lr so you can have night vision on it plus the 22lr is more silent so thats why you would like that granted for night rabbit shooting. dont forget mods for both rifles to
  11. i have one in 22/250 daz its my 1st centrefire so i cant really tell you much about the mod 70 but to me im glad i got it it is well made, bolt is lovely and smooth, and accuracy is looking very good from what i have seen so far. trigger needs tweaking abit so im told as there heavy from new. luck for me mine was done before i picked the rifle up. it breaks clean and crisp
  12. you dont have to pay to get it checked over. they do that in with the fee for the grant of the ticket.
  13. you never no it mite all ready be passed. have you asked the land owner if it has been ? if i where you go for 22lr and hmr as for the sako quad ive never shot one but have handled one in a gunshop it was very nice and nice trigger. dont forget you will need the right hight mounts for the job as the has to be room to lift the barrel before you can swap it. you could phone your firearms department and give them the details of the land you have permission on to see if its all ready passed
  14. soory mr logic i keep forgetting its 223 your after not 22/250 as the heavy barrel varmint in those are abit of weight how long does it take your flo to sort it out ? there slow here so when i by a rifle i have to make it a keeper !!!
  15. I'm with Jamie on this. If you are unable to use a rangefinder. Google Earth is the answer. As Jamie says just zoom into your permission fields and by using the gate/tree/water tank, it is easy to find the range to any other feature in the field. I use night vision when out foxing and night vision can make a fox look much further away. So I study the field I am going to stake out remembering all the possible distances that I may need to take a shot - have been know to print several fields off the computer and manually mark the distances if I intend to move from one field to another. I
  16. try some different pellets to find which is best but if you can get hold of them get the jsb pellets. other then that air arms do go well in most rifles
  17. the savage is a heavy rifle mr logic i would go for the sps tactial heavy barrel but nice and compact seen welshdragons and its very nice and accurate with fedreal ammo
  18. i would get a range finder but you could download google earth to your pc then there is a little ruler on there that will tell you the size of fields in miles,ft,yards its easy to use and is pretty accurate a lad off the bbs said he tryed it then went out with his rangefinder and was suprized that it was pretty much bang on give or take a yard or to
  19. just see which one feels the best i do like the remington they have loads of aftermarket parts for them to which is cool Jamie I tend to view anything with a serious quantity of aftermarket parts as crap..otherwise why would anyone want to buy all the bits....a decent rifle to start with may cost £100-200 or so more, but odds are it works, and you don't need to throw most of it away and buy new bits....just another viewpoint!!! i can kind of see what your saying deker but the way i see it is the remmington is one of this countrys most popular selling rifles. so that is w
  20. yes i go for 60 yard zero to but like deker said go for a zero that suites your shooting most. i find my mtc perfect for my shooting with the different aim points out to 100 yards.
  21. just see which one feels the best i do like the remington they have loads of aftermarket parts for them to which is cool
  22. wish we had that many rabbits on my shoot. about 20 is the most ive had in a night anywaay good shooting mate and god pictures
  23. very nice mate perfect for the 4x4 shooting nice and compact i do love the cz rifles value for money they cant be beat and ive never heard of one being unaccurate so you can see why they sell loads and loads
  24. cz rifles are great value for money there well built, very accurate, and relieble. worth the money and is is the most sold bolt action in the country. i have the cz style with nickel finish and it shoots ragged groups at 60 yards the size of a finger nail. all i have done is fitted a brooks trigger kit to it to make the trgger sweet. but you could just cut two coils of the trigger spring and adjust the nut if you didnt want to spend anything on it. but for £12.50 for the kit its not dear so its up to you. as for the scope there is loads on the market i have the mtc viper with xmas tree cr
  25. looked on some of the forums from the usa and they have a good write up for accuracy. alot of people have them there is the odd bit about there build is abit'' workhorse like. but as long as it lasts and shoots spot on your onto a winner you must have some money buying all this gear
