  1. what a big con it is. yes you mite learn something on the course but you shouldnt have to take it before getting a deer rifle. if it was me i would have the mentoring for say six months that why you dont have to pay the price of the course. i want to be able to shoot deer next year maybe with my 22/250. by deer i only mean munjac as that is all i have on my shooting ground. i have a place what has roe deer on but then i would have to go for 243 because of the stupid rule we have here for them. unlike scotland where 22 centrefire can be used on them. then again i would have to get a ope
  2. i got a leica rangefinder 900 scan coming
  3. that one came in to a hand call john. but alot of the foxes are paying intrest in the vixen call now it must be getting time for them to mate. could have done with the weather to be abit darker and abit more noise as it was very still that night.
  4. you should see the one we carry over my mates ground if its to wet for truck ! it is a truck battery very big but last all night easy. not to bad to carry but on muddy ground your feet get caked and then the going get tough
  5. picture added now guys looks like last years cub by the look of his tetth my mate said. he has feed well tho. well up in till now that is
  6. couldnt have put it better john. dont forget the odd couple of callers
  7. Thats what i have been saying to them i have just been getting snardy comments like your 19 so your obviously an expert. well i thought it was just common sense to use snap caps or something dont get into a debate with them mate some of these guys from the usa allways no best
  8. ive had a fox with hmr but keep the range down and only in the head imo. side on between the eye and the ear. and the other thing to do is make sure you try it out on some targets 1st as there isnt any room for error like there is with centrefire. where you can go for a engine room shot
  9. it will be more then a foot missing if that hit you ! get it checked mate but in future never carry it over anything loaded you dont get a second chance with rifles or shotguns. even a air rifle can be deadly. i never carry my rifle round the shoot loaded even if im not climbing over anything i have round in the rifle but not bolted. if i need to shoot a fox oor rabbit i bolt it. if it dont get fired i take round out load back in gun but so the bolt need cocking again before a shot take car
  10. i wouldnt dry fire my rifles all the time. they say a centrefire is ok to do. but a rimfire it ill weaken and shatter the pin if you keep doing it i was told. each to there own i guess but i just use a old case or disarm by pulling the trigger in when i bolt it down
  11. hi mate you want to have a word with dasherman off the bbs i bet he has lots of bits and bobs
  12. dont forget most 410's come with 3inch chamber so they have some poke. great for using when ferreting i think
  13. mine was my 1st fox with 22/250 and a pair of rabbits one after the other at 125 and 130 yards both in the head to
  14. nice one mate its a time to remember when you buy your 1st rifles you wont sleep now till you get out the 1st time to shoot it try to get some cash off in the deal. say to the gun dealer what you want and could he do you a deal on gun, scope, mounts, mod, bag, ammo and if he does then you will get other rifles from him
  15. Sorry to hear that you are experiencing the same issues. Ironcally, my best results are with the same ammunition. If I do find a compatible factory round I shall let you know. Many thanks for that. The Sako gameheads I was told was very good factory rounds and idea for deer, but should give sub inch at 100yards. Snapshot have just noticed a very slight mark on the barrel, at the forend and the left side. Maybe the stock has caught this. Looks like a trip to gunsmith to take a little off the stock, although the barrel still looks like it's free floating! This could be the problem? Fas
  16. hi mate you can get them on ebay with free shipping
  17. and me you have abit more range to lamp a head. then you can sneek up for the shot. get the dimmer to it helps alot i find when shooting rabbits
  18. i have a 22/250 mate i use factory 50 grain winchester silvertips at the moment and there very accurate in my rifle to be fair. we crono'd them and there in the high 3800fps ! and there pretty consistant at that speed for factory ammo thats good. my mate nick has a 22/250 ai which is 1 in 9 twist so he can push 69 grain ammo ! at 3500 fps. and dave the guy we shoot with as a tikka t3 tactial in 223 which is spot on accurate. my and nick both have neiss scopes and dave has the top of the range swarovski scope. its mad to think how much all ove us shooters spend when you think of it !! we
  19. get the zeiss mate i was looking at foxes out to 300 yards with my conquest last night and could see the detail easy on them. very bright picture. and the zeiss diavari will be even better ! would like one of them in the future and put the conquest on my hmr ! like i said i have the n04 crosshair its to thick for targets but for vermin and fox it picks them up easy and if you cant get the cross on him clear just make sure the foxes body is in the thick post and you no you got him
  20. went out with two mates last night for some foxing seen around 12 foxes but as it was very still they where abit scared to come into call. my mates vixen call was getting them intrested and the dog fox was calling back so its that time of year now where we will get more luck with that then the rabbit call. 1st place we tried is a good size place 150 to 200 acres with massive open fields and a track road runs round it. allways seen foxes there and one year my mate shot 4 with in 30 mins ! we have been back there over the last couple of weeks and seen foxes there again. 1st field round t
  21. join one of the nissian sites mate there a mind of info on there. your engine is the same as they use in the ford mavrick isnt it ?
  22. if i had a slot and the cash i would have a 20tac for sure. but only if i was good at reloading becuase to get the best out these caliber rifles you have to reload and be pretty good. must be nice to have next to no recoil and see the hit on foxes and crows at distance.
