  1. Do they realise you'll be digging up half the golf course or are the sets well out the way?atb anyway
  2. I agree with ideation.my whippet is 19'' and only 11kg,he is very light on his feet and very quick.does feel the cold and defiantly doesn't see half as much quarry as I think he should or a bigger dog would which is isn't that good.he is a decent ferreting dog tho and I run him on a few golf courses which he is perfect for but will be looking to get a lurcher in the new year for more success on the rougher ground etc
  3. He was picking them up in the nets from about 9 months but never let him run any properly till he was just over a year.he's just started to catch a lot more now, still losing more than he catches but cos we've not been out with the lamp yet they are all still quite close to the cover and must be frustrating for him lol.still great fun tho when he does get a good run at a few an still learning
  4. My whippet was the exact same mate in regards to the recall, after chasing and losing a rabbit he just would not listen and at a year old I was thinkin I would never be able to call him back after a chase so that would be lamping out the window.thankfully at 18months and a bit of work he is a completely different dog and is so much better.cannot wait till Sept now.think it's just an age thing
  5. Pics are cracking mate.mine will walk through burns etc if he has to but as for going for a dip,an absolute no no LOL
  6. Need to watch when feeding eggs.people think because wild polecats etc eat eggs in the wild its acceptable to feed eggs all the time to there working ferrets, when infact wild ones only have access to eggs at one time of the year so don't eat that much of them, hence over feeding eggs isn't good for them.whole rabbit carcasses all the time if you have them you can't go wrong
  7. Sorry for you're loss mate,gutted
  8. Aye,make it smaller.that should do the tricksometimes if its a warm day/night I can go out in the morning and my two hobs are curled up just outside the nest box.must be too warm
  9. Just thought I share a few photos of my whippet.cannot wait till the new season
  10. I work on a golf course and over the years have ferreted it quite heavily so for the last two seasons have left i well alone and for the last 3 months have seen plenty all over the place, every corner you turned there is rabbits running in all directions.literally just back in the house from taking my young whip a walk over the course and he had scooped up 4 half grown all buggered with mixy.bit gutted to say the least as this is the first case of it i have seen up there in years
  11. Me and the wife will be at scone on the Sunday.was there 2 year ago on the Friday when they cancelled the Sat/Sun.it was the Mrs first game fair and even though it was pissin down all day she had a great time and is keen to go back.suits me fine volcano someone tell me when the one in Dumfries is please?cheers
  12. Sorry to hear that mate! You's must be devested! Hope you find out the c*nt that done this.i wouldn't be held responsible for my actions if that happened to my dog.head up bud
  13. My whippet does the same.when the rabbits are to close to cover, just stalks them cos he knows when he starts running he has no chance
  14. So what would youre opinion's be on a dog thats just used for rabbits?i already have a little whippet, decent little ferreting dog, good nose and would run through a brick wall to make a catch but some of the ground I work is really quite heavy and rough and noticed in the winter he picked up a few strains etc.in the near future i would be thinking of getting another dog to use on the lamp especially and was thinking about a 1/2 whippet x grey x collie?opinions? P.s sorry for just jumping in on this post lol
  15. Just back from honeymoon and noticed I missed this.would have definitely have popped up.hope all went well and everyone had a good day
