  1. Sounds a sore one Gem.how long till it was back to normal after the muscle tear?mine isn't that bad and thankfully it was just his skin but he's my first dog and I'm new to this injury buisness.
  2. Cheers for the advice mate.defo invest in a skin stapler.the gash on his chest had opened up by the next day and ive just left that to heal on its own.that wound is also clean but it's formed a wee bit of a lump now.its scabbed over now,I'll just keep it clean and I imagine it'll go down
  3. Superglue is exactly what I've used mate.thought it might have needed a fair few stitches but ive managed to hold it with the superglue and it looks as though its healing well. 4. Sorry to hear that.never nice that mate! Bart sounds like there was something else up as 6 isn't that old for a ferret,I have a Jill here and she' is coming on 10 and this is her first winter she will not be ferreting.she finnally looking a bit past it,and lost a big tooth.that'll be her in full retirement.she can now see out the rest of her days in a warm hutch with plenty grub. atb

  8. Was out for a walk today with the ferrets but not much about but my young whippet was enjoying himself none the less, managed to find and lift the only rabbit we seen all afternoon, the rabbit headed right under a fence and the dog jump it but clipped the barbed wire on the top, never thought much of it until he returned, the whole under side of him was covered in blood.closer look revealed a big gash on his chest, few deep scratches, thought that was it until I noticed just inside his back right leg it's ripped about a 3inch hole in his skin.when streched right out you could see right inside his le

  10. Headed out for a wee while last night.sky was clear but wind was up so thought bugger it.went to a local golf course, there was'nt much about, with the exception of a fair few hares.most rabbits I saw were too close to home.only managed one slip here, dog struck but missed and the rabbit was away.since the dog only had one run when I got back to the car I decided to give some playing fields near by a shot.really glad I had a look, plenty here to be had over the winter. First slip here the dog had his first rabbit!well chuffed.walked on a little bit and slipped him again, had a good run with this on

  15. Took the dog out for a walk this afternoon just in the woods two minutes from the house, walking round he lifts a rabbit from the cover gives a good chase but it gets down a hole.I could see the dog marking the hole and when I walked over he was basically trying to dig the wee bigger out.had a wee scan about and it was just a cheeky wee two holer so since the ferrets were due feeding and I was so close to the house I decided to nip back, grab a couple nets and one of my jills.was back in no time, nets down ferret in,and with the dog closely watching the two nets, wee rumble and the dog bagged the
  16. Ive had this problem before,an older hob in with two young hobs.they all seemed to eat fine but if you kept a close eye on them I noticed the older one would get full and go for a sleep, while the young ones would still be bouncing about and tucking into more food.basically competion for food was high and the older ferret lost out.moved him into a hutch with and old Jill and and now he lives the quiet life getting to eat when he wants and nobody bothering him.the weight came back on no problem
  17. Cheers lads.aye am pretty sure he'll pick it it no probs.been ferreting for years, this is my first dog tho .well and truly got the bug lol
  18. Couldn't wait any longer so on wed night the weather was not to bad so had the dog out for his first time lamping at 20months.was out quite early about 10ish so wasn't expecting that many rabbits to be about, but to be honest just wanted the dog to get out show him the beam and maybe 4/5 slips.was only out for just over an hour and only gave the dog two slips cos I was trying to pick them carefully and give him the best chance.first slip started like a dream, the rabbit was a fair bit away but when I flicked the lamp on the dog clocked it straight away at the end of the beam so I slipped him and
