    Tagged Buzzard

Awrite folks!just a quick question as I don't know too much about this subject. Do people tag buzzards?and if so,what do the tags look like?there are a number of buzzards around the golf course I work on and a few times now ive noticed one bird has something stuck on its right wing.it doesn't seem to bother it flying and I haven't had the chance to get a photo.but a few times ive been close enough to see it flapping around.its also a purple colour.i was telling somebody about it today and they said it was a tagged bird but I'm not so sure.anybody shed some light on this for me?cheers
  3. Here's mine! Turning into a decent ferreting dog for myself.isnt shy of hunting up thick cover.only started on the lamp a couple months ago and he coming along good, taking quite a few.my first dog and happy with him.only thing I would say was watch where you work it.i have some quite rough ground I have used him on and he's been knocked up 3 times since the start of October.always 100% though
  4. Well done pal!sounds like a good day.got to go where the rabbits are for a good days ferreting:)
  5. Don't grab at it when its at the mouth of the hole.be patient and let it walk well clear of the hole and calmly pick It up.
  6. 5 Yorkshire puds??? Fat bas..... Haha.looks good bud.hiw did you do your rabbit?just in the oven?whats on it in the first pic,
  7. Youtube pal! Step by step video on there.cant go wrong.
  8. Got caught poaching last night, farmer says you've no right to be here......a said you don't know what you're talking about all the boys on the hunting life said it was sound :) haha
  9. Sure did mate.we'll see him next time:)
  10. Managed a couple hours out today just trying again to bolt a few for the dog.(no nets)managed to shift 3.first one dog could hear it coming so jumped inbetween the two fences where he thought it was coming and low and behold it popped out the other side of the fence while he was stuck the fences, instead of jumping the fence he ran along inside it and watched the rabbit pop down another hole.put ferrer in behind it and after a little dog pulled out the dead rabbit.on to next burrow, bolted another one straight away but it ran along the inside of the hedge and down a big warren so left it there
  11. Awrite mate.have a wee look on the ferreting discussion page theres a post 'leather net bags' on it theres a link to simon whiteheads las test film, his friend,I believe is called torchie has this cross of dog and you get to see it work.theres also more vids of him on youtube with the dog working.atb
  12. Is that the beginners net making kit mate?the wife getting me one for Xmas and was telling me she was having trouble finding it on eBay.would be better just ordering it from agouti.much was that?about £40?
  13. Only you'll know what you're looking for in the cover.i spoke to them on the phone and they'll give you different rules to suit youreself.they were really good.he's down as a whippet cos he is a whippet lol.got a feeling I'll have a few claims over the years
  14. There is quite a difference in cost depending on whether you take the basic insurance or the life one. With the basic one conditions are covered for one year only I believe. Mines is just a year.it was £30 for the life cover.shouldve maybe just took that.Van man there was a couple different conditions so prob will be the reason, worth it imo though
  15. I'm pet plan aswell.but bit more expensive than you's boys.im £19.25 a month?????he's insured to be at my work place aswell, maybe how its a bit more
  16. We all started at some point pal..if he gets tangled up in the net just kind of try and lift it off him or let him gently wriggle out of it,make sure he's well away from the hole,do everything nice and easy and no sudden movements that'll cause him to skulk back into the hole.if he's still young he'll still be very excitable, especially if he's just bolted a rabbit.if you handle him a lot more when at home and he should stop nipping.atb
  17. Just over 2 weeks of work left till ive got more than 3 weeks off.cant come quick enough!plenty ferreting to be done:) t

  18. Not sure how much dry food you should be feeding as I've really never used it mate.but if he's in proportion he sounds ok.dont think ive ever had a hob that can slip in and out of the nets without disturbing them
  19. Correct mate.thats when you could count on good hard frost end of sept/ October time
  20. Few frosts this week.here's hoping it stays cold and gets this cover knocked back a bit more.nothing better than ferreting on a nice crisp morning.
  21. I used to use old t-shirts etc found that the nest box got damp.saw dust and plenty hay during the winter.
