  1. Hi lads,I'm looking for a bit of info on the law here.I was out walking my young whippet on Thursday night round a loch in the town which I am from.on one side of the loch is basically next to a main street with a row of houses and flats in between one section.as you get further round you approach a big old palace and church.as I was approaching the paIace I let Riley off the lead as there is plenty of space for him to get a good run but he was soon over in some cover and lifted a rabbit out of it which he was on to straight away, they both ran straight past me and headed back towards the main

  9. Was meant to be heading to a church yday that I had acquired permission for but couldn't get a hold of the parish priest believe it or not either in the phone or when I went up to his house so ended at I little farm close by. There wasnt as many rabbit about as I first thought and it was a little hard going at first with a coupe of stubborn rabbits not wanting to bolt but anyway only had 6 by half 12 and the rain had just come on so we decided to call it a day.at least the ferrets and a good run out and my pup had a couple decent runs too. I was a little gutted to see a couple of the rabbits
  10. I wondered this aswell.but then after I had my dog out a fair few times he soon picked up what he was doing and has now started to mark quite well.he's still learning tho? love seeing him work

  13. Absolutley delighted after today so I'd thought I'd share this. Was working this morning but was desperate to get out with the ferrets and dog so finished a bit early and headed out just about 10.got too a little bit of land we have permission for and netted up a nice set with only about 15holes,my little whippet pup was marking well for only being out a handful of times and I was a little apprehensive about letting him have a run at a rabbit here as there was a road near by so I kept him really close.anyway we put one ferret in and within seconds we could hear the rumbling and up popped a ra

  15. My own preference is to work my Jill's most of the time and use the big fella on larger warrens.find that works best for me,a lot less digging
  16. Cheers boys! Had him out his usual walk earlier he lifted a rabbit in the long grass and nailed it in a flash,(which I was over the moon about)he didn't quiet bring it to hand and I had to walk a couple meters to get it off him,and even the he was reluctant to give me it.closer look it clearly had a bit of myxy which is obv why he got it so easily,I was still as chuffed as him tho.although a bit gutted about the myxy as there's been none about here for a good few year.
  17. Just looking for some advice.i have a young whippet who will be 11months old in two weeks and so far he's been out ferreting with me a fair few times and is starting to get the jist of things although I have not yet let him have a proper run at a bolting rabbit.he will hold them in the nets etc and has started to mark one or two sets.does anybody think now is the right time to let him have a few go's at a bolter?he was quite an immature dog but in the last 6/7 weeks he's come on a good bit although he does have a mind of his own sometimes or rather selective hearing haha.ive read alot about ru
