  1. Sounds a great way of getting at the pigeoens, looks a good hide too, wouldn't mind spending a morning doing that when I can make the time,I'll probably rip off your whole approach and tell my shooting partner "I've had an idea..." Cheers!!
  2. Couple of good shots, shame about not showing the impact of this round, but understandable, useful tool with the range it offers from what I've seen of it...
  3. That's a nice bit of work and your effort has paid off, good gun, good price and good shooting coming up I think??
  4. Another thing Mac,well two really, the aa s400 series are already legendary,up there with the best of them, and am I the only one who suspected you were a closet thumbholer????
  5. I like the sound of dressing them while still out as it saves the messy part from being done at home, straight in the fridge/freezer til your belly rumbles!
  6. Nice way to unwind after a day's graft...
  7. I'll bear these tips in mind I think as soon as I can get on them, thanks.
  8. Not a bad way to spend a weekend that!!
  9. Nice to come across these things, though I hardly ever seem to spot them anymore!!
  10. I'm hoping to do this soon and am thinking stay in the hide, covered up and keeping still is the plan,I'll take a couple of eggs and a decoy or two and see how it goes, where do you set up your hide mark? My task is ridding some corvids that are pinching feed and messing the water troughs, but these have sheep round them more or less constantly so do I set up close to these and take super safe shots, which could restrict the amount I can take,or somewhere further up the flight line and try to tempt them down?
  11. When its done can we see a pic of the hw99s? Or is it under wraps til the presentation, sounds like a nice idea and I like the name, veteran,as well...
  12. The few best ferrets I've personally seen work were hobs, though I've seen some Jill's really graft as well, maybe its a case of getting out what you put in? If you work a ferret hard and often it will be better than one that gets out half as much? I myself work hobs but either will get you rabbits...
  13. Everyone wins then, except the bunnies! Some sport ready for next season as well...
  14. It would be nice to see large areas of reds all over and worth the effort,it will be a tough challenge though and the reds definitely need the help, good luck with it...
  15. Have you no pictures to put up and show a bit of some of your outings??
  16. Sounds a real test for all your kit and yourself, can be hard to keep concentration when being battered by the weather, must be nice to have so much ground to go at with a good amount on it,in harsh conditions it can be hard to get anything at all so to bag a handful is a fair result, you have the time to try different approaches in varying places so should make a good trip,a few pics would finish things off just right!
  17. The feeders could also become spots to take care of a few greys as well, shelf on the side so there's somewhere to sit and munch a peanut while they wait for the delivery of a little piece of lead!! Would like to know more about the reds progress and see a few pics in the future...
  18. Very good nights work there, must of took some carrying!! Ferreting for more on Sunday should be a good weekend for you then...
  19. Agree with army surplus, can find just about everything you might need,ie lightweight, waterproof, goretex whatever, usually cheap enough as well...
  20. Had a couple of hours this morning over a recently drilled field, beans have been planted I think?,got the hide set up and a few decoys out and got comfy, within half hour we had bagged one a piece,a jackdaw and a crow, the crow fell in brambles so couldn't be retrieved!not long after my mate hit a pigeon so the first hour or so was OK then it slowed down,he got another crow and I missed a pigeon then it went ghost town quiet,we decided to set up at the other end of the field which seemed more like the flight line from the sheep feed they are pinching and the wood they are sitting up in,we waited
