  1. i also bought a gunsock and a few other bits.......every time i go on holiday i try and get a few bits.....most of the time now i go on holiday to france and buy shooting and hunting stuff there. something else to consider the usa dont "proof" their guns , several european countries do and can be imported without having to send the gun to a proof house afterwards
  2. i bought a winchester knife in the states when on holiday.......it was a third of what it would cost here. no experience with importing firearms but my wife has ordered other items from teh states.......they have to list what it is on the outside of the packet, and the cost, you are charged a tax for it leaving the states and then obviously you pay the cost of postage and then there are taxes at this end usually also........end result it may save you money but ......its a lot of paper work and hassle may just be easier to do a bit of overtime and pay the asking price here at home.......the
  3. 25 minutes fighting with two firemen......lol http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2136877/Ferret-attacks-baby-pram-firefighters-spend-25-minutes-trying-fend-off.html
  4. i had some and used them on occasions.........they slow the rat a bit, and if you are quick with a stick they are handy to have about..............i got mine as i didn't have a ferret friendly terrier, which is the ideal solution to ferreted rats........and i wanted something as i had been asked to shift some rats from under a shed........i sold mine as after that i didn't use or need them......they dont work anywhere near as well as a rabbit purse net, but better than nothing as i said
  5. sec 22 of the firearms act.......yes
  6. MY WHELPING BOX ON EBAYhttp://cgi.ebay.co.u...2#ht_500wt_1287
  7. forgot as well gun fit....thats when you pick it up and look down the barrel is if a correct fit to your arm length etc......ideally it should naturally point where your looking when you look down the barrel
  8. get someone who knows to go gun shopping with you failing that. There isn't a lot to a standard break barrel shotgun, its a barrel or two on a receiver with firing pins in..... check the barrels are clean and clear, no rust inside or out, then if the firing pins work (ask if you can dry fire the gun using some snap caps) and if the firing mechanism works and the barrel fit to the receiver is good (tight not loose) then the gun is good to use....what kind of gun you after and budget?
  9. the saddlery and gunroom in KENT which i note is where you live do the hushpower range.....you can pay and have your gun adapted for a couple of hundred quid, or buy a new one from them.....either way give the shop a ring, must be driving distance to you in the same county.....i have the single barreled 12g baikal with full hushpower conversion, wouldn't be without it
  10. I think thats Vinnie Jones in lock stock mate!!! it takes lots of practice to shoot two at a time.....................
  11. updated with video, cooking books, terrier books and countryside books
  12. i am selling anything i dont need or use as due to move house soon. listed a load of hunting books on ebay, more will be being added soon http://www.ebay.co.u...sid=p4340.l2562
  13. I use both semi and pump and especially when decoying I prefer the pump because semis are restricted to 2+1 shots, pumps aren't. and I hit double clays when shooting skeet as well as 3-4 crows in a row... Not quite. Under the law, any shotgun that has the capacity to fire more than 3 rounds (1 in the chaber, 2 in the mag) without reloading is classed as a section 1 firearm, and so a firearms certificate is required rather than a shotgun certificate. This is true no matter what the action type is, be it semi-auto, pump, lever action or whatever other action you can think of. n
  14. once a day, depending on time of year, during the summer and warmer months late at night so that the heat doesn't make the meat go off...........as stated portion wise a pigeon between two is enough. during the colder months it doesn't matter what time the food is given as its not hot enough to go off before they can eat it all. give fresh water daily (i use a pot dog bowl) and tidy away any left overs (but there shouldn't be any/much) My ferret eats all sorts of food, when shot/caught stuff is at a minimum then a chicken wing a day keeps him ok, when i have been ferreting he eats a ra

  16. this is the nicest thread i have seen on here.....very gentlemanly of you to offer an unwanted gun to someone needing one who has took it?
  17. a workmate came shooting with me......then wanted his own gun's and to take up shooting when his feo attended they asked to speak to me......basically they wanted to ask why he wanted to take up shooting, explained he would be doing a bit of pigeon and rough shooting and that he had come out with me and told the basics and they were happy I would have just stated you want to do vermin shooting and tried to find someone who could vouch you aren't a complete liability
  18. All true. I just like the "quirkiness" of it. Be very boring if we all shot the same i agree to a point....but after paying so much for 410 cartridges and only being able to get such a limited selection.....ended up selling my 410., i liked the quirkiness and challenge of using it.....it was so slight and light i could use it one handed like a big pistol.....but with the ever increasing price of cartridges anyway the "quirky" gauges are getting very expensive. In fact in some countries you can only get 12g cartridges..........so if you travel and shoot you need a 12 or you
  19. whats the point? cartridge price and choice is limited.......get a 12g.......cheaper and more diverse selection, meaning the same gun can be used for everything
  20. long distance shooting......LOL lurchers can make good gun dogs....besides being able to stop runners.
