  4. I will be interested to see what the final outcome is........will he get to keep his certificates and his job etc...? He did wrong but i agree that the circumstances of him falling asleep have a massive bearing..........as stated if he fell off whilst sat contemplating cleaning them thats different to thinking i will have an hour then clean them......if I had been the person (polcie or not) to find him and them like that i would have given hima severe bollocking and made him sort them out..... sadly as has also been stated the police aren't allowed to use discretion anymore and hav
  5. a few quid and such can be made doing pest control and selling game (including rabbits)......but not enough to pay the bills/mortgage
  6. i think you would be better asking the garda or a solicitor..........or just buy another cabinet
  7. we could start a revolution..... 3 shotguns, an air rifle and an air pistol baikal hushpower 12 gauge baikal .410 and the gun i bought last month for a tenner a single 12gauge boito might sell teh 410 and the boito thinking of getting a pump action
  8. My wife asked the same question of me a few days ago, asking if i would be able to buy and import a shotgun the next time we go on holiday.....I dont know all the answers but do know that if you order anything from the states there is an import and an export tax........it can end up being similar priced to the uk after paying both those...........the answer i dont know is if you were out there anyway, bought it for yourself and brought it back with you rather than importing it by itself if you would still have to pay those taxes.....but i dont think they are in our mutual proof agreements and
  9. I think serving in the army would help also.......lots of coppers are ex forces and appreciate people in disciplined service the same as they are......also you do sound to have grown up, pleased for you let us know wat gun you get and how you get on
  10. although there is no legal closed season on rabbits........in reality people dont hunt them seriously after march until atleast september......if you asked this question september there would be loads of replies
  11. I see where you are coming from with the idea that farmers may be more receptive to someone who has a gun. I can see it working both ways, they distrust anyone with lurchers fact, so turning up with a running dog will usually result in NO, asking for ferreting with nets is usually the bestway in, use locators show you are reliable and turn up, do a good job, dont leave a mess etc.... however i find having access and use of a gun can help gain more permission and is another string in your bow for certain opportunities, some farmers are anti-ferret but will allow shooting, some wont allo
  12. i have an array of various heavy lead cartridges....BB are best for fox with AAA a close second......SG with only 9 pellets leaves a sparce pattern at any distance....
  13. this one even has a target to make aiming easier....lol...
  14. the real question is would you enter it in your game diary? i.e. rough shooting , 2 pigeons a rabbit a cock pheasant and a collie greyhound lurcher
  15. if there coming into season the weaker one will be raped constantly. split them up AS HE SAID SPLIT EM UP.....they will be able to go back together sept/oct time

    chickens

ex battery hens are suprisingly good layers....my ex battery hen lay more than the young speckledy and a rhode island red i have, they just need a bit of tlc when you first get them . ex bats tend to be warren's , someone else recommended them above
  17. Baikal's per se are good, cheap, reliable, tough guns.......410's are a bit limited for pigeon shooting on the wing i have the 12gauge baikal hushpower.....they take a bit of getting used to with the moderator widening the barrel.....getting point of aim takes practice get a silenced gun maybe even a 410 but i dont think it would be the best for pigeons (unless you are shooting ferals in barns) i also have a standard baikal 410 besides the moderated 12gauge baikal. good luck getting a gun.....trying one out is the only way to see if it fits you and you can use it
  18. thats so true........some animal charities do castrations and neutering cheap to avoid unwanted pups and kittens......shame they dont think the same for ferrets.....perhaps write to teh pdsa and ask edited to add and point out the welfare of the jills and that vasectomy is a more minor op than neutering a jill
  19. I haven't been on this forum much recently.......i was warned a week or so ago about a spate of ferret thefts in the north hertfordshire/bedfordshire border area. One old boy had all 8 of his taken as well as his nets and gear from the shed, another had 4 ferrets stolen from his garden......it was suspected to be travellers - thats all i know as it was second hand info i heard, i live a few miles north of where it happened and the lad who warned me is a shooter who i work with who wanted to warn everyone he knew with ferrets in teh area
  20. They get quieter the more you put through them, it might quieten yet more after another 100 or so. I love mine, and use it for all my shooting, i dont like wearing ear defenders and also dont want to go deaf .....that was the main reason i bought it. Do you clean the mod?, i have to take mine off to get it in the cabinet and lots of crap comes out when i take it off but i dont wipe it down i just put a little oil on the threads. I can just get mine in the cabinet, putting it in at an angle........ but yes i do clean my moderator.........in fact i am fanatical about cleani

  22. I have been stopped once...... I parked at the side of the road and opened a locked gate that has a combination padlock on it (its bloody obvious that i know the owner when i know the combination) went through the gate with my shotgun, an old man was walking past, he looked at me and i said hello, waved and carried on into the wood and out on to the landowners fields. Returned to the car and drove off, a few minutes later a police car behind me........they asked me to stop, i pulled over, two local officers came up, they stated we dont know why we have been called, we pnc checked the c
  23. had my single shot baikal hushpower 12g since the summer.......... Bloody great and really quiet gun, literally not much louder than an old spring air rifle (i use hushpower carts as well) shot a few rabbits and pigeons with mine. its not much louder using standard cartridges and i have test fired all sorts upto and including SG cartridges in mine to make sure it works with them......and so far it will digest everything and drastically reduces the noise, but with eley hawk hushpower cartridges its really quiet and the moderator also absorbs and reduces the recoil apparently the mossbe
