  1. Awful situation.......if it gets that bad then it looks like hardening your heart and putting them all down? otherwise could end up costing you a fortune and causing a rift at home
  2. what about the spacers inside are they easy to line back up on a bikal spacers???? Inside the moderator is a set of baffles that are fixed to the moderator.....on the end of barrel is a wide metal collar that i believe touches the baffles when its on......i clean the inside of the moderator, i clean the inside and outside of the barrel and around the drilled holes, i clean everything......then i apply oil to the wide metal collar as that fits snuggly to the moderator, and oil to the threaded piece on the barrel and to the screw hole that holds it all together.....slid the moderat
  3. I have the 12gauge baikal hushpower..........its dead easy to take off and put back on....you just need to use a little bit of oil on anything that scrapes or screws.......In fact i take it off and clean it after every outing
  4. I would hazard a guess, as they are shotguns and require putting on your licence NO.....unless you meant RFD--->RFD
  5. Matt you are right.............see my first post on this thread....e-mail your mp.....who else has already done so???????? I have, in fact me and my MP are on first name terms i e-mail him that often......thats how the anti's got the hunting act....they spoke to teh mp's all the fecking time...use the system as they did
  6. if the dogs broken to ferrets.....workk the dog, watch where the rabbits run to and ferret them out to nets or try a small bobbery pack of dogs? or a terrier/spaniel and a shotgun.
  7. I also feel that duplication is unneccesary......why when someone goes from holding a sgc to a fac.....dont they bin the sgc and put them all on the fac?? the law considers the sgc a lesser weapon and hence why the greater restrictions and extra hurdles to obtain a fac........but why do you need both? But people like me who struggled to get a sgc due to not having anyone to sign as a referee.....would be put out of the market altogether if 2 signatures are required...and imagine the impact on the gun dealers.......if every shotgun needed to be put on as a restriction it would seriously red
  8. I thought the same.........the cumbrian murderer had both a sgc and fac and mr Moat had an illegal sawn off shotgun I think we all need to write to our MP and explain why this wouldn't work use this website to e-mail your mp http://www.writetothem.com/ I struggled to get my shotgun certificate, so i doubt i would be able to find 2 people to act as referee's when i struggled to find 1............
  9. My last renewal I got a friend who i sometimes go ferreting with to sign it.......he is an art teacher in a secondary school.....first time round it was a lad i knew who was a fireman at the time
  10. does anyone know the bloke? go buy him a cheap air rifle..........quick effective, humane and discreet. shouldn't be using live capture traps unless you have a suitable gun to shoot it with. would a 9mm shotgun be useful for such? That said it was a very heavy fine , but is also an awful death all true hunters should respect all their quarry and deal with it as quickly as possible to hunamely despatch it....whatever that animal is
  11. so the plumber dont need to tell us where u keep urs then, u just did You get the point though (p.s. you would need to know where i live to come and burgle me) My plumber wont be burgling me ....he's a friend and my neighbour
  12. I am a relative newomer to moderated shotguns having bought my 12gauge baikal single shot fully hushpowered gun at the beginning of the month. The purchase of this was a long and well thought out decision involving a couple of phone calls to hushpower @ The saddlery and gunroom.....i was initially going for the pump action, but when told the noise reduction was even further with the fully moderated single shot i went for that......i also asked about using plastic wadded carts as i have a couple of hundred in various heavy loads that i would be using......the advise was that the gun will ha
  13. To clarify anyone can own normal shotgun cartridges (i.e. not solid slugs which are sec 1 ammo) but SG shot and everything smaller can be owned by anyone, but only bought by someone with a SGC, as such there is no requirement to lock them away like sec 1 ammo, but the FEO will want to see they are away in a draw or cupboard or such where the kids or a visitor couldn't see them (imagine you have a plumber or such who spies the cartridges, realises you must have a shooter and comes back to burgle you or tells someone else where a shotgun is stored?) Mine are stored in a bedroom cupboard an
  14. to be honest mate not had any experience in such situations....only ever shot foxes in agricultural surroundings with a 12gauge. Have a .410 myself but wouldn't use it for a fox unless it was trapped.....10-15ft i reckon any cart would slow it down ....is your gun a multi shot or a single shot? as i reckon it would take more than one cart to dead it I think the optimum fox cart though is BB in 12gauge
  15. i take it by garden work you mean trapped foxes? or snared? Any .410 cart from very close (point blank) will make it dead.....if aimed at the head
  16. The guidelines say that it should be a solid brick or stone wall (including breezeblocks). No mention of it being an external wall, though a supporting wall on a modern house is probably your best bet, as the others can be pretty flimsy! You CAN attach it to a plasterboard stud wall, but you'd probably need to plate the opposite side with a metal sheet to give a suitable fixing. The best person to advise is your FEO, as they'll know what they are willing to accept (should be standard, but blatantly isn't!) If you think your security meets the legal test (a "reasonable standard") but th
  17. From what i have heard and seen Hatsans are crap and would struggle to cycle a variety of carts as would be needed....i have just sold my baikal mp153 that was a great gun for cycling heavy loads.....see if you could get one second hand.... I use 42gm of BB's, they work I think BASC did some tests on fox carcasses and found that BB's in a 12gauge were the best load (they compared different shot sizes, gauge guns, and levels of expertise with shooters)
  18. I have heard of people being refused their certificate as they intended to keep the gun in a cabinet in a loft...........they said you dont really need one as you wont be getting it out that often if you need to get a ladder and torch to climb into the loft to get the gun out I think the cabinet needs to be in an external wall preferably out of sight but in easy access Mine is fastened to an external wall in a built in wardrobe in a bedroom besides if you are invaded by zombies and need the shotgun fast its no use in the loft
  19. just bought a fully moderated 12gauge baikal single shot from hushpower (the one on their website at £385) I cant believe how quiet it is.....noise is a consideration for some of my shooting places and i dont like ear protectors.......it allows for moving targets and being a 12gauge has a wider range of ammo that can be fed through it (you still get 60% noise reduction with normal carts) with hushpower carts from eley its nearly silent I would recommend the moderated 12gauge rather than a 410......
