  1. Dave i was just guessing as i saw pics of his rabbit pack on another forum when we were talking about teckels. Did he breed her himself? i have seen pics of both Bud and his daughter....they both look like handy types i am starting my own little rabbit pack, i have a cocker spaniel, a teckel x and am getting a teckel dog pup soon (from ruger8 on here) ............ Good luck with the new hound, what is she running with, how many terriers have you? Compo
  2. came home to find them asleep like this
  3. chippers dog hound is Bud a teckel x basset, is that the father to yours?
  4. keeps out of the litter, have any gone to people off the forums? can i expect to see them grow up and working ?
  5. i use my ferrets on rats, but on the patch of land you describe, not appropriate and you need ferret friendly terriers before even thinking of ferrets. ask the farmer for some weed killer, then use the smoker!
  6. didn't Plummer acredit the colouring to the american beagle dog he used that belonged to a teacher friend of his? which was caped and red and white? gettinga pup from Ruger8 in about 5 weeks time, a teckel dog hound, should be handy round bushes!

  8. Salut Dakrido, je pense que c'est interdit de chasser avec un deerhound. Bon courage & pm moi quelle departement dans la quelle tu habite. i also thought it wasn't allowed to hunt with deerhounds in france, unless he means scenting hounds for deer? drahthaar? bienvenue Dakrido
  9. Lev's your truly spoilt, i hope you appreciate how envious i am of you !
  10. my teckel x when out ferreting she is very teckel like, just slightly longer legs Teckels pack well together, they are used in a pack in this country and i am finding more and more people who have small bobbery packs that include teckels and teckel hybrids I am hoping and trying to get a teckel dog hound to add to my little pack (the teckel x and a spaniel) as i really like them and their personality and the type of rough shooting i do suits a small hound/small pack
  11. Isnt that uncomfortable for the dog on the inside of the collar?? thats what i thought, good idea, but on the inside of teh collar i am sure the dog wouldn't like that
  12. quiet good, reasonably well made, very light, teh compartments are ok size, teh middle one is a tad small, only ok for a jill ferret, but a good box.................who have you ordered your box from? mines from the ferret box company
  13. i sell a lot of rabbits to butchers and always get something on top of teh cash , i once brought home that many chicken carasses i couldn't fit them all in thefreezer and had to throw some this week i just got some large bones for the dogs. always worth asking thebutcher, they have to pay to get rid of bones etc.....
  14. my ferrets are all eating rabbit heads at the moment, they get off cuts and other bits of meat, plus most of what i shoot....however i always have in Chudleys dry food (it is the cheapest per kilo in the shop when you buya big bag) and when i am at work or run out of meat thats what they get ( i work 12 hour shifts 4 or 5 at a time-so whenworking dont have a lot of time to get fresh meat, that said i then have 4 or 5 days off so they get fed better then )
  15. WHO I think you read the topic too quickly
  16. No mate thats a traditional set longnet! hazel wands and end pins! the one time i was out witha lad with a 100 yard quikset......i was quicker running mine out and putting the wands in and i find the traditional longnet better when ferretinga s you can put the wands nearer or further apart depending on the terrain/grass/crops/debris/rabbit runs etc........ glad you all enjoyed the post as much as i enjoyed being out
  17. I haven't witnessed beagle crosses working cover, i have seen a fair few though, a friend of my uncles has a few in Yorkshire somewhere, they are apparently fecking ugly but very handy and game, accounting for foxes, i have met some other lads who have beagle x JRT for bushing (one of the plumbers who fitted my bathroom has one ) , have been out with a pack of beagles........they are Hounds and a half cross may still be very houndish I reckon it would be down to the individual dog, the owner , how the owner wanted it to work, and a few other variables as to whether the beagle cross would b
  18. Managed to get out ferreting today, took two ferrets, my longnet and my aging cocker spaniel (i was going to take the teckel cross, then had a rethink-dont know why) anyway started at the landowners request on a log pile/log shed, got the first rabbit from here, in the farmhouse garden. straight into the longnet after about 40minutes of being chased round the logs, i tried to locate the ferrets and the bleeper wasn't working correctly anyway after taking it appart, it was the revamped metal wheel that Robw gave me touching a wire that had moved and creating a shortcircuit, wire bent back
  19. the answer seems to be yes....but not in theUK! you may have to travel/europe and ireland await!
  20. a bit of hound is better than a bit of spaniel when i was a kid me , my brother and a friend had a small bobbery pack, two lurchers, and 3 terriers and a spaniel......the spaniel never got into the deepest cover like the terriers. we did catch loads of rabbits and other things, the terriers catching the majority in the cover! I now have a teckel cross border terrier, she is better than my cocker spaniel in cover, and is better than the 3 terriers and spaniel we had as kids.......i want a teckel dog hound now! a teckel or beagle or hybrid is the way forward
  21. CWD are indeed a very profitable species (along with muntjac) last time i spoke with a professional stalker he was telling me about the number of foreigners (americans and arabs mostly) that were paying to come and shoot these two, it was increasing that side of his business vastly..........he did tell me about one arab that ate the liver raw and warm from one CWD
  22. a good thread, folk dont seem to think of conditioning the little warriors but spend ages road walking their running dog! feeding the best diet etc.... i think a varied diet with as much meat and bone as possible, and as much exercise as you can and they should be up for it when needed!....in fact that goes for any dog/hound!
  23. me an my lad in Switzerland me with my weapon out and a couple of birds
