Further to what socks said. all ferrets become Lactose intolerant once they reach adulthood. When they said it was OK for ferrets they may have presumed orphaned young ferrets!!
-
my advice read all and everything about ferrets, then speak with as many people as you can and work out what to do from all that. That way you are making your own mind up, but are seeking as much advice and expertise as possible. the site you found will have things you disagree with, god i even disagree with my best mate and my wife..........on some things...........but dont throw out the baby with the bath water, there will be some useful info and some not so

mine take great delight in digging at the bottom of the bowl till they move it and empty it .My son reckon's a poultry drinker is the way to go but as there plastic i reckon the ferrets will trash one in a week . My bowl is about 9 inches accross, and very thick , plus it has straight sides and a very thick bottom, its the size of bowl a person would buy a great dane, plus when full of water, even when i had 7 ferrets they didn't move it!!! I also reckon a poultry drinker would work as long as it was full to add weight! sawdust/shavings will get in but you should be checking/

i personally have grown to detest water bottles..........mine have a heavy duty ceramic bowl as well as a bottle, they drink from the bowl first and only use thebottle when all the other water is gone i remember a thread on another forum about water and ferrets and someone with vetinary experience stated why ferrets cant drink fast enough from a bottle and to keep them correctly hydrated bowls are better also the water in thebottle always seems warm, where as the water in thebowl always seems cooler? Get a big round heavy ceramic dog bowl and be kinder to your ferrets.

Went out shooting at about 7pm, thought i would have a walk round a few boundaries and shoot a bit of ferret food. All going well and shot a couple of rabbits. On the way back to the van on the last farm and i lose my fecking dog, the teckel cross, she has an habit of deafing you out and getting her nose down, but after an hour and half of searching the hedges and wood where i had been i should have found her, longest she has evre been gone is about 10 minutes.........i was thinking has she gone to earth? is she caught in a fox snare? etc....... it was getting dark.....i didn't hav

fantastic footage. just watched it a few times along with the wife and kids and a few friends........... The waterbuffalo MUST be able to communicate, the two adults that ran MUST have "spoke" with the rest of the herd to get them all to come............Amazing

NO, you cannot shoot them just because of noise and a bit of crap on a lawn , try and understand the "TERMS" of the genral licence public health is on the general licence and would be covered by removing them to prevent them shitting on lawns where children play! or people eat picnics etc...... Thats the way i read it. i will geta link to the general licence so he can satisfy himself Have a look here, it mentions prevention of disease before crop damage....so if the shit can cause a health problem i reckon he is covered! http://www.naturalengland.org.uk/conserva

Ditchy I know you want a .410 pistol and i can understand the attraction myself (did you ever see that John Wayne film with the kid with really fast reactions but poor eyesight- John Wayne was teaching him to be a gunslinger and as he had shit eyesight JW had two shotguns made into pistols for him - fast as f**k and with an element of error allowed he was then a top gunslinger-they were side by side jobs ) But for despatch in cage traps why not just a single barrelled .410 http://www.baikalinc.ru/en/company/33.html i have one of these and its not much bigger than a pistol

Golf course rabbits ??? are they harder to catch
COMPO replied to johnk's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
try it yourself......see which is easier to run on a mown lawn or stubble! and my legs are a lot longer thana rabbits and the stubble still slows me down -
The BDS doesn`t even recomend rifled slugs fired from a shotgun so AAA`s are totally out of the question where deer are concerned.basil46. I am confused by such a blanket statement, AAA is a deer legal shotgun cartridge! Agree with Deker AAA is legal read the link i put up We should be careful criticising fellow hunters on open forums, if its legal its legal, and in some circumstances it is also the best option, whether thats for safety or through force of circumstance. I always carry a few AAA

this link is useful/informative although promoting rifle's it does give the legalexemptions and when it is safe/best to use a shotgun http://www.bds.org.uk/use_of_shot_guns.html

my first lurcher broke her rear leg at the hock joint when a couple of years old........obviously had the thought about putting her down etc......some advised i should some said i shouldn't .....anyway it healed and with a bit of gentle exercise she went on to slay many many hares, rabbits, a few foxes and deer...........she lived a long time after the break and worked well with no weakness at all. That said they are all different, give her a chance and plenty of rest/gentle exercise, follow vets advice and see good luck

Dicehorn and Stonecold You both live in the west country, i live a few miles from Woburn Abbey in North Bucks , the place where in the 60's the deer wall was breeched by a tree falling down, basically the epi-centre of the feral Muntjac population in the UK. i drive to London on weekends when i am working and the 10 miles i drive to the M1 often has 6 or so road casualty Munties from the night before in the early hours, they are everywhere and in some parts are more numerous than rabbits, obviously i said that term tongue in cheek and not to be taken literally, but we have a far denser

I have a 12gauge baikal mp153 with the 3.5 inch chambers, more than enough gun for what you want i was considering selling mine a few months ago as i want another dog and was looking for cash, i think i have changed my mind now although i still want another dog i will just try and fund it another way, i like having this gun around http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--GbVKwDfNU http://www.baikalinc.ru/en/company/95.html

Sambo get yourself a SGC and do things right the police will accept that you found it in the circumstances described( a letter from the owner of the shed or who was with you at the time) then get it cleaned up and checked at a gun shop and you will have yourself a very tidy little mooching gun. from the picture it looks in very decent condition and i reckon should be usable Compo

i have shot Muntjac with my shotgun and AAA, i would do it again if the circumstances dictated, rifles are only usable on some land and in the dense woodland i was shooting (they were damaging the young tree's at the edge) which was not too far from a road and a house, a rifle would have been dangerous or potentially dangerous, and besides i dont have a FAC and am unlikely to be able to get one. There is a shoot near me i used to beat on, they have an annual muntjac drive in March, i truly think this is the only way to make a dent on the prolific breeding muntjac, in large dense wooded are

I agree they are good videos and nice tekels/daschunds. I have posted the first and last clips onto another site! For the attention of another teckel owner!

the last clip, its a bit long until the mink bolts but those two teckels are very keen and they catch it themselves as it runs thats the best clip in my opinion Just had time to sit down and watch all three!
