Embroidering the story: St George's life is shrouded in myth and exaggeration- St George's Day special Everybody knows about St George, don't they? He was the knight who slayed the dragon that, erm... Okay, don't worry, it's not surprising if you don't know a lot about England's pa

  12. My wife went away with her sisters on Friday (long weekend in Mallorca) and is due to return this evening about 9pm Anyway that meant i am currently the sole carer/housecleaner/dog feeder etc.....and i have thoroughly enjoyed having so much time just me and the kids! The two year old woke up crying last night and was crying for "Daddy"....rather than her Mam! 15. and this from the Guardian newspaper website Juanita Bermúdez, director of the Códice Gallery, insisted Natividad escaped after just one day. She said: 'It was untied all the time except for the three hours the exhibition lasted and it was fed regularly with dog food Habacuc himself brought in.'

    Guard Dog

I personally think any dog will guard, i grew up on a farm , our dogs weren't overly socialised and were wary of strangers, result they barked and growled at strangers, it would put off any opportunist thief and allowed you to know that people were around and go out to see what was what. My old Lurcher was kenneled near the back door, she was used to people coming up past her kennel to the front door, however on the few occasions that people didn't follow the path and either walked round the back of the house or climbed a fence, she would go ballistic I think what ditchshitter said is a lo
  18. i agree, hounds or hound crosses, best noses in the canine world and good prey drive
  19. i agree.......but your being pedantic, if people want to call em "big" cats whatever........does it matter they are bigger than moggies, there may be black one's , there maybe hybrids...........................i do know they are out there though
  20. You are thinking laterally now though aren't you? and aren't just saying No the "big" cats that people see, and the ones that i saw, aren't moggies, and they aren't Puma's either, they are cerval's, caracals, jungle cats etc.... exotic pets gone feral....therefore wild!!
  21. interesting thread and how quick do threads go on THL? Good to see Dawn B being a bit more open to the possibility after the last time this came up and she was catergoriic...not big cats in the UK, then the possibility of these smaller "wild" pet cats and hybrids and now she believes/accepts it could be them that are being seen I have seen two, or one twice, the first time couldn't see the colour it was in silouhette but was an inch or two bigger than my cocker spaniel, second time was closer and clearer and was what i think was a caracal or similar, again 16+inches to teh shoulder
  22. get a small hound, or a hound cross terrier lots of lads have such dogs for bushing, teckels, beagles, bassets, Petite basset griffon vendeens etc.....or crosses between them and terriers, a decent working hound should get into teh tightest of cover and move evreything and account for some game themselves
  23. Seen two or possibly the same one twice! I think its a caracal or such after looking on the interweb, once i saw it in sillouhette so couldn't see the colour, second time was closer, the dogs had it cornered against a pallet
  24. I take it that it was dead pretty quickly
  25. If it works for you, then great crack on! However there is only so much stuff you can carry and some of the best days have been just with a box with a ferret in and a few nets in a rucksack! useful, but again essential?
