  1. Aye up "the real VM" is back !!!
  2. The pigeon in an opening trap door cage scenario ?
  3. Turn the 60 yd field craft star down to 30yds with either calibre and the suggested reticle is perfectly fine, further out to 40 yds in .177 is there if required too. Unlike some hunters i much prefer to get close, real close to my intended quarry but, more skill involved " each to their own" i suppose. Yes i agree Rez , some great shooting is achievable with mill dot reticle scopes atb
  4. Are those "your hands" Mac ? what`s the rest of you look like ?
  5. Well i`ve had no stop whistle refused today - "touch wood" What would be your way Casso,- please ?
  6. Hand up, palm facing dog usually means stop, stay.
  7. Well, here we go - Took Kaiser my male GSP to the pro` trainer Sunday morning and went through the niggles and above all re-enforcing the stop whistle. Trainer asked what do i do when he doesn`t stop to the whistle, - here`s my truthful answer 1, Go out to him and whatever the distance take him back to the whistled spot and i blow single peeps in to him holding his cheeks or collar every time. Is that it ? He said. The dog knows that`s all that will happen and can accept that easily. Do as you are already doing but then wal
  8. Whichever way you look at it, after 40 yds it becomes " guesswork" . Surely without a mill dot reticule , the chances of a "glancing or wounding head shot" is greatly increased and more so in .22. "Wait for it"
  9. Well that counts me out then with 7 guns Somehow "i don`t think so "
  10. Mac my crystal ball cant quite make out the calibre but was able to predict the gun. If i didn`t have the 100`s i would shoot single shot again like i do with the T Rex. I love the pressure of "one shot only" - makes a marksman out of you - springer and pcp . I shot single 12 `s for many an outing/ season for the pressure of "shoot right" (Argyle single 12`s) One man, one gun, one shot is the hunter to learn from .
  11. Reminded me of a Raider, first glance.
  12. Show us the rabbits you shoot mark... I hear all these stories... I expect them to be theeee best looking rabbits we've ever seen. I`m doing my best to leave `em alone Rez. I counted 5 early in the year on the 200 yd banking for the first time in years and last week 15 to 20, so breeding has begun
  13. They aren`t those rabbits that Big Mac and Rez like to shoot are they ? No wonder no one goes back for more. Old and very slow to react, full of fleas and mixy , thoroughly "inter-bred" and "glow in the dark" . Did you see the last photo put up by them ? One rabbit had three ears.
  14. Hi mate, Every one of us is guilty of "chasing rainbows" and trying to "glean" that perfection we all crave. Instead of saying what needs to be done to such and such a rifle, simply justify "why" the Ultra by XTX has to go ? she is better than the Regal . Stick with her Mitch - you could well regret it if you don`t.
  15. Hi jjm, Aye so true, if we shoot something for the pot, it`s a bonus to the joy of being out in the countryside. I`m having a real air gun hunter`s romance with the sister of the pro sport, the AA T Rex 200 HC (in .177 ). I am finding it a great way of "being on top of" my shooting,- shooting both springer and pcp .
  16. He is at a pro( general gun dog) trainers tomorrow , a very big "thank you" Stroller, very much appreciated. Had him out as usual this morning on the long line and on a few occasions wood pigeon clattered out of the trees, - he stayed rooted and sat if i stop whistled him, and watched them leave,( no reluctance). No game was about but he hunted very well and non stop. This afternoon on, his short lead, we saw some young pheasants feeding just 15 yds away, on crops as we were on the pavement of one of our local country lanes. He stood on point and wanted
  17. Your going to need a bigger freezer lads . Outstanding !
  18. Shooting Moxy . The new permission sounds great by the way, "git" atb
  19. Plastic flock decoys are ok to a shot gunner but to attract stationary targets for an air gunner you need the real thing on cradles, good camo and a very good "natural" hide with dead bait and guts out. I have never needed a call on corvids with the above deadly method.
  20. Shooting jjm , Rapids are getting mentioned quite often of late. atb
  21. Could you recommend anyone Stroller , we are near Warrington/ Wigan and thank you.
