I was with 2 others who were shooting pigeons with shotguns over the west of the orchard, whilst I stuck to the east side. One of those took it home as he had never tried it before. Personally I didn't think it had enough meat on it as it was a young one, but he's adamant that he'll get some meat from it. Driving round with the lamps later was a waste of time, one of the guys was out of the top with 17 rimmy, and he's a good shot, but he only shot 3 bunnies. " good ones for the freezer and the other was left for the foxes, busted guts. Hope the permission picks up a bit in the spring.

Some f*cking justice system we've got here eh? Adjourned again after all this time, it absolutely stinks. Must be so frustrating waiting.

Haven't been out shooting for a while, the bunny population on our orchard permission declined dramatically since mid september, we had been controlling them well, but mixy had put in an appearance. My mate dropped off a couple of pheasants on saturday and asked if I fancied an afternoon out, probably next wednesday, to which I agreed. I knew the pickings would be slim, but it's worth the effort just for the craic with the other 2, and of course the pheasant vindaloo for dinner. Both my hunting mates have never seen any squirrels on this orchard perm, but I have seen 2 in about 2½ years.

Gloat away Walshie, I would  Apparently foxes on golf courses also predate on the birdies... but the eagles sort them out.

I watch this guys art videos and he also dabbles with amateur taxidermy, think it's worth a look. http://youtu.be/luVKE78opD8?list=UU9OSomer-o_VGGilGVp8i9g

Came across this bloke's youtube channel, and it's very informative not only with 'normal' meats, but game, fowl, fish etc, and utilising bits most people wouldn't use. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheScottReaproject/videos

I take it they still make a profit from the sale, just shows how much they are overcharging by normally.

Good work camokid. I used to do a bit of engraving on drinking glasses years ago, with an old reciprocating engraver. Used to do fishing scenes mainly, amount of times I'd get halfway through and the glass would shatter

As he is an MP, won't that be covered on expenses? -
That would look mega nice in a frame with black mount card behind it

I've got a Hawke Sport HD 3-9x40 IR AO Rifle Scope - Reticle Mil Dot on my HW100KS and have had no bother at all in over 2 years, and I have recently purchased the same scope, but without the illuminated reticle, for my AA 410 classic, at a cost of £49.99 from Uttings. Well happy, holds zero and would recommend it.

Wish my workshop was as tidy as those pics. I've been considering tidying it up for the last 3 years, absolutely piled up with crap.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching that, I found it interesting that at 8.57 minutes, one of the guys used the old dispatching technique which was commonly referred to as the 'rabbit punch', basically a heavy karate chop at the base of the skull behind the ears, whilst olding the rabbit up by the back legs. Going to have to get my Out of Town DVD box set back off my hunting mate, he's had it for 2 years

My old man was with the RWK mate, he was POW 39-45. They all did their bit mate, heroes the lot of them. Although I have tried, I can't seem to find any further info, other than his name is etched into a plaque at Hythe War Memorial in Kent, adjacent to the Royal Military Canal. Appears that in 1996 some thieving scrotes nicked the bronze angel on the memorial, now been replaced. .

I use ordinary cheapo table salt, and you can literally watch them turning to jelly. Read a fishing article some years back where a guy turned up at a fishery and saw loads of white circles in the swims. He asked a guy fishing what it was, and he told him salt to keep the slugs out of the bivvies. The carp guys used to wake up to find large slugs inside the bivvy crawling over everything, so once they had set the bivvy up they poured table salt around the outside, and it worked a treat. We've been inundated with them big black ones this year, horrible things.

tiercel, I don't think it's what you post, as this happened to me a little while back, whereby my I.P. was blocked. Some sort of a glitch. All I was doing was reading some posts and THL just locked, I couldn't get back in from my I.P. I could get back on using a proxy server. I used IPdragon.com to get my I.P. address and pm'd it to Ian, and he sorted it

Strange Happenings In The Woods
Mister Gain replied to debbielou42's topic in New Member Introductions
You can all mock, but I had a strange experience in the woods back in the summer. I had gone down there fully camo'd, face mask gloves etc, in the hope of bagging a few squirrels. Foliage was really thick on the trees, but I found a good position to sit it out. Sat on the floor, back against a tree, a small shrub in front of me... a natural hide. I kept scanning the upper boughs in the hope of spotting movement. I kept hearing a peculiar noise in the distance, and after about an hour, curiosity got the better of me and I slowly made my way towards where I thought the noises were coming fro -
If you make a long barrelled pistol out of it, would it not then come under air pistol legislation? ie. below 6 ft lbs, so you would have to start fettling it to get it legal. Good suggestions above re donating it to a club I had my sons old chinese rifle from when he was in the air cadets, to practise for his marksman, and gave it to my neighbour with a load of pellets. He enjoys sitting in his back garden plinking at paper, takes him back to when he used to work in the flour mill as a lad, and they used to spend their tea and lunch breaks popping off the rats.

Thought I'd have a trip back in time, went to see it at the flicks, a rare treat back then for a 9 year old

These people have gone out prepared to kill, and no doubt come back here prepared to do the same. IMO something more stringent would need to be done. All around the globe countries have had extrajudicial killings, Argentina being one such country in the 70's and 80's. If they started disappearing maybe they would think twice, but Britain wouldn't even consider such action.

I have already seen my christmas present, after so long without a dog I am getting something to fill this. Dam is a KC registered blue staff and sire is mainly black with a bit of brindle and white. Pup is black with tiny white mark on bottom lip and a white chest, 5 weeks old. Picking him up on dec 4th.

Another good run-through, and despite my advancing years I actually learned something. I have always only known skivers as either lazy gits or the leather inlay on top of a desk, so to find out it is also the name of a tool was something new.
