  1. My youngest stepson went to Japan last year, and he says speeds like that are common over there - lightning fast ! To some extent, though, are you not governed by how fast your device can process the information it receives ?
  2. My internet is 5hite ! We're with Post Office, who piggy back from TalkTalk, who probably piggy back BT or summat. We get 2meg download speed, but only on a good day - upload speed is in geological time ! BUT.......we get unlimited broadband, unlimited calls (which is good, as the good Lady is forever on the phone !) and unlimited calls to mobiles at weekends. The only fibre installed round here is BT, but they can shove their prices, so I reckon I'm stuck with what I've got...........the OpenReach fella came to repair a fault and had to travel nearly 5 miles to the neares
  3. I'm struggling to have any sympathy for him.......
  4. There's film of her, a few moments before the crash - she's saying "you're going so fast.......!"
  5. Was he not under the influence and speeding ? If he was, it's not an accident, and it's certainly not stupid ! Reckless, irresponsible and thoughtless. Like it or not, he is responsible for a young girls death ! Found guilty in a court of law, in a case he didn't turn up to defend, then legs it, to avoid the consequences, but wants to appeal using legal aid - he has utterly took the pi55 out of the law, the courts and his victim's family !
  6. I know they have a lot to do in a day, but we've had loads of trouble with Hermes. Stuff that supposedly needed a signature left on the doorstep several times, and glassware (clearly marked) dropped over the back gate. One chap left a card, saying he'd delivered, but we couldn't find the box - I found it the next day.........in the wheelie bin ! We've had a couple of items not turn up, and no response when we tried to chase it up. Cowboys !
  7. A Geordie is just a Scot with his head kicked in !
  8. Max, can I clear up a couple of points ? I was put on statins, even though my cholesterol was only 4.2 a few days after my attack ! A couple of years later, my pharmacist told me they were part of a standard package of medications, which I was taking even though I clearly didn't need them. He measured my cholesterol at 4.3 ! All I got from them was the side effects - muscle cramps, fatigue etc - but no benefits ! I also had beta blockers for high blood pressure. I've never had high blood pressure, and still don't to this day ! It was slightly elevated when I was in Resus, but I

    gun fail

Never seen so many idiots who should never be allowed near a gun !
  10. I had a heart attack 11 years ago, and the experts put me on a cocktail of medications, including statins, ACE inhibitors and beta blockers. I immediately took the advice to stop smoking, and haven't touched one since. After a few years of thinking of myself as a sick old man, and suffering side effects of several drugs - even though I wasn't 50 ! - I thought "feck this" and slowly withdrew each medication, starting with the statins. I got myself more active and, even though I'm overweight, I can walk for miles and I even do a bit of cycling (albeit at a fairly sedate pace !) I've ha
  11. She is to politics what Larry Grayson was to rugby league !
  12. As a proud member of the lower order riff raffle, that article hit the nail Square on the head !
  13. I love Portillo, doing his "don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh" face ! To this day, I can't decide whether she's out of her depth, on drugs or just plain thick !
  14. Welcome mate. Using your email address as your username ? Probably not wise !
  15. Took great delight in watching the repeat of Question Time, last night. Isabel Oakeshott chewed her up and spat her out, and a good deal of the audience treated her with the contempt she richly deserves !
  16. Thank you for your kind wishes, gentlemen. I'm happy to report that all is well with the little fella and new mum. He's to be named Alexander John Percival ! Percival was his dad's great great uncle, killed at Mons, when he left his trench to throw a grenade back at the enemy.
  17. I'm overjoyed that Alexander John came into the world at 4.10am today, weighing 8lb 10oz. It's been a worrying time but, after almost 3 days in labour , I'm equally happy that mother and baby are both doing well ! The good Lady and I have already got him his first tweed waistcoat and flat cap ! We are, indeed, blessed !
  18. She annoyed me when she spent several episodes singeing about a broken collar bone, which needed surgery, to fix it. Crying and sniffling...........thought she was tough !
  19. All those bleeding heart actors on the scrounge for charity really pi55 me off ! The worst one is that to55er Eddie Izzard - resplendent in make up, nail varnish and pink beret.........which are noticeably absent in the clips of him visiting the Islamic Republic of Yemen - can't imagine why !!
  20. A few years ago, I worked with a woman who originally came from northern Sweden. One winter, we had an inch of snow and, of course, the city ground to a halt. She arrived late for work, angry at having had to walk all the way in - no trains, no buses etc. I pointed out that it had snowed quite a bit, and it makes life difficult for everyone, to which she replied - "Where I'm from, we measure snow in metres !
  21. I've only ever thought of Gove as an odious, back-stabbing little pr4t........... ........but, I happened to put the news on, as that was being broadcast live - and I have to hold my hands up, and admit that was magnificent ! That's the kind of soaring oratory that's so sadly missing from British politics, in recent years !
  22. LBZ has got all same old, same old so I don't watch it much these days. Chip is a total tw4t, Sue's conversation consist entirely of cliques and Andy is just a bad tempered old got ! (How did his wife put up with him for so long ?) Always liked watching Glenn, though. He's the only one who seems to genuinely enjoy his life, and shows an almost childlike enthusiasm for everything !
  23. I can bring decent tea bags and proper chocolate ? A whole bunch of both !
