  1. Brighton and Hove council (obviously !) said.......... "We believe that it’s important for all genders to be able to learn and talk about menstruation together…" By all means, have the discussion with the female half of the class. The only thing boys need to know is to give the old lady a wide berth while the painters are in - next mood swings in 3, 2, 1 !
  2. Can't wait to see Poland and Hungary's reaction, especially ! That should lie a fire under the bureaucrats in Brussels !
  3. The good Lady gave me her usual advice, to see me through the festive period..........
  4. I reckon we can get a good idea about where we're going from the fact that the only opinion that has a majority in parliament is to remain in EU............
  5. From her point of view, 63% of her MPs is a convincing win !
  6. 63% of her MPs backed her, so the Tory's self- indulgent vanity project is over, for now..........but she's in no better a position than she was on Monday, when she bottled the showdown. Nothing has changed and nothing will - and, to be honest, it's difficult to see how anything she does will make any difference at all.........what an appalling situation to find ourselves in !
  7. DUP said they wouldn't support May's deal, but WOULD support her in a confidence motion, but I guess the proviso is that the deal would have been voted down by that point ?
  8. There won't be a GE in the next few months ! Once the leadership is settled, Tories will rally round the leader (new or otherwise) and DUP, while opposing the backstop, have already said they won't bring the government down. If a motion was tabled by any of the opposition parties, I can only see it failing. If the backbench Tories want rid of May, tonight is their last chance ! They might be wiling to bring down their own leader, but they won't allow the opposition to do it !
  9. Sounds like most days in our house ! The good Lady loves it. I don't so much dislike Xmas, rather the relentless consumerist frenzy that gets whipped up.............buying presents for people we haven't seen for years, posting cards to people we barely know and don't even like very much just because they sent us one etc. I keep threatening to instigate a pre-NUPP agreement - No Unnecessary Present Purchasing...............but my proposal is always overturned by a power greater than me !
  10. ...........as the personification of "lame duck" which, I think everyone will agree, is to the detriment of our country, our parliament and democracy in general !
  11. I'd personally back Raab, but hes a relatively unknown quantity..... Sajiv Javid, maybe Gove (not exactly trustworthy !), Amber Rudd as dark horse............IF the Maybot can be unseated.
  12. He's right, mate. Outside the ERG, the Mogg isn't too well liked.........neither is Boris, who isn't well thought of across all party factions, so that's 2 candidates out of the running, I reckon.
  13. She should have realised that's the game was up on Monday, where she missed one of several escape routes. I know she's a a Remainer, but, knowing how unpopular it was, she should have put the deal to the vote, and killed it off once and for all. Then, she could have gone back to Brussels and said "Now what ?" That might have forced a renegotiation, or she could have slipped out the back door that the European court left open, and held a second referendum, or a parliamentary vote on whether the process would continue, or she could have pursued a 'no deal' policy. But.......she cl
  14. We'll see wat she has to say at PMQs tomorrow - if her own party hasn't knifed her in the back by then !
  15. That's disrespecting weasels !
  16. The way we've got here, as I see it, is that the referendum vote was fairly evenly split. So, it's not in ANY party's immediate advantage to form a solid position - because whatever you do, you'll pi55 of around half of the electorate, so we're left in this political limbo, where the main parties try to out- manouvere each other, without making a firm commitment either way ! It's "Yes, minister" made real !
  17. But she's not doing either of those things !
  18. It's beyond silly - we're somewhere between a comedy of the absurd and a banana republic ! From day one of her premiership, I've said she was the whipping boy, who was chosen to carry the poison chalice. I reckon she was a reluctant PM, who got the job because there were no other serious candidates. She was a 5hit Home Secretary, so it shouldn't be a huge surprise that she's a 5hit PM - for me, she's the worst PM we've ever had..........and I can remember Wilson, Callaghan and Major !
  19. She wants to postpone the vote until the end of January ! We're meant to be leaving in March - more can-kicking, maybe ?
  20. Can we get back to the subject in hand ? The PM has tried to conceal financial advice and legal advice, which were only published after her government was found in contempt of parliament. Her negotiations (such as they are !) with the EU have been carried out in an air of secrecy. 'Red Lines' have been drawn, only to be rubbed out and re-drawn over and over again. Now, she's deferring a vote that she said wouldn't be deferred, in order to change a deal that she said couldn't be changed, and moving heaven and earth to stop parliament voting on whether there should be a vote. I've been
  21. I disagree, Len. Who she's actually been trying to appease is her own Brexiteers - they want something that she doesn't believe in ! She's wasted so much time negotiating with her own party, instead of negotiating anything like a decent deal !
  22. Once again, we seem to concur (which I'm finding a bit concerning !) I increasingly get the feeling she's playing for time, manufacturing a way to justify a second referendum - or a more winnable parliamentary vote - which would keep us in. Then, she could resign/retire........parliament, with its natural Remainer majority, would settle down somewhat, and the fallout becomes someone else's problem ! The political impasse has, for me, become intractable. She's painted herself into a corner, good and proper - I can't see that she has any way forward. But, can she find a way out ?
  23. Couldn't agree more, mate - she's a disgrace of a PM, making fools of us all ! The European Court has left the back door open a bit wider this morning ?
