  1. Probably lock you in it You've met her then?
  2. You'll find everything you need here, buddy - and a lot you don't Welcome and ATB
  3. Both he and his partner had tried for many months to get him some psychiatric help, but to no avail - apparently there is an enormous waiting list, but that's another issue! His partner tells of long periods unable to sleep, hallucinations, inability to control his temper and an all-consuming guilt of surviving when his comrades had died. When I saw this on my local news, my heart went out to the fellow - the MOD is quick to send them to the 5hit, but don't want to know once you're back in Civvy Street. Society in general, and the Govt in particular must bear some responsibility for this
  4. Thanks for the tip Lee! I'm in the bad books as it is - dread to think what she'd do if I burnt the house down!!!
  5. Only joking, mate! I go on there a fair bit and I find it really useful, but it's all very serious - (and I don't mean that as a criticism!)
  6. Is this how we repay our service veterans? The day before this incident he tried to get help for many years of PTSD and 'survivor guilt syndrome'! Thankfully, neither he, nor anyone else, was hurt, but why is help only given WTSHTF? http://www.bedfordshire-news.co.uk/News/Iraq-and-Afghanistan-war-veteran-jailed-for-gun-stand-off-with-police-20130813130000.htm
  7. I'll bugger off there, then - you'll miss me when I'm gone! Goodbye, cruel world!
  8. I know the accepted, and best, method is to hang 'green' naturals in the shed and forget about them for a few months, but is there another way? I was wondering, is it possible to at least hurry things along a bit by using a microwave or a very low oven, for instance? Just call me impatient.........BB
  9. The ergo shooter is a nice bit of work, mate!
  10. peter cushing ....softest man in the world! I can think of some difficulties in arresting a man who died in 1994.
  11. Mate of mine deals a fair bit on E-Bay and he's been stung a few times. Personally, I'd give the shysters a wide berth! (Mind you, if I do see something I fancy, I get him to order it for me and give him the cash!)
  12. Fail to see why anyone would go to see it, let alone find enjoyment! Can't see how it can be described as a 'sport' - the animal has no chance of escape, after all.Whole spectacle seems gratuitous and unnecessary to me.
  13. The American comedian Steven Wright once said that he loves to freak -out hitchers. He picks them up, then drives in silence for 30 minutes before turning to them and asking "So, how far do you think you're going?". He said if that doesn't work, try "Put your seatbelt on, I want to try something - I saw it in a cartoon, but I'm pretty sure I can do it!"
  14. What about if the work is not there......do you think the company should still just pay?.......maybe even if it meant the firm may end up going skint and having to put a complete workforce out of jobs? As with many with your type of mentality, you would rather see a firm go skint out of spite then use these type of contracts for the few in order to keep the firm in business and maybe protect the jobs of many. I suspect that if it meant giving someone a zero hours contract or YOU being put out of work your morality would quickly disappear out the window. When you return from your cere
  15. I picked up a packet of Tampax for the wife earlier. I don't get embarrassed buying them, but she says they're not a 'proper' present!

  16. Just to add to Scot's excellent post (above), the police are only present at these incidents because they have 'right of entry', which Council officers, RSPCA and so on don't - basically if they ask to come in, you can't refuse.
  17. I lived in London in the late 80's/early 90's. While the building boom was in full swing this method was still used to find the extra labour needed on a site for that week.Worked well in my experience - I always had work - only labouring, hod-carrying etc but good money if you didn't mind working for it.
  18. Not sure they'd even allow this these days........ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYj5o4kQsXs Just love the first comment under the ad....
  19. 'Love thy Neighbour' !Some many TV channels, but not one brave enough to put that on again! They could use the excuse of 'classic comedy'. I saw an old episode of 'On the Buses' recently on ITV4 - all the women called 'birds', reference to a 'chinky' restaurant and a black guy called Chalky, so it can be done! Not sure they would let it on main stream media Mate. In a world where the media won't say a suspected rapist had large lips or immigration officers can't do a spot check based on ethnic background , I can't see them let a program where a white man calls someone sambo on . Unless of cou
  20. Just seen the film of 'Bongo bongo Land' on the news - the MEP makes the point that if he hadn't used such language, the topic would not be debated. I think he's got a point, but this is the same chap who directed a Nazi remark at a German colleague!

  22. A zero-hour contract means there is no guarantee of any work from one week to the next, what we might call 'casual' labour, but people on zero-hour contracts can't register as unemployed, even though in a way that's exactly what they are. Massaging of statistics for official purposes maybe? "There are lies, damned lies and government statistics" (Mark Twain)
  23. Got it! They're like one of those 'third hand' tools bike mechanics use!! (And I'm supposed to be the clever one in my family!) Couple of enlightening links - cheers chaps!
  24. Does anyone here use a band jig? I'm probably being a bit thick, but what are they for and how do you use them? Everything I've seen just has pictures of various types of jig, but no explanation! Cheers, lads! BB
