  1. Pip and Westy's suggestion is a good one, Bob ! We have loads of woodies, maggies, rabbits and squirrels nearby, but dead hard to get near them on foot - you can pull a car right up next to them, though!! i guess they've just got used to seeing cars passing by ?
  2. So would I Scot. Didn't Gary McKinlan 'belong' to Anonymous? They hacked NASA, FBI or some such a couple of years ago. I memory serves they ask 'members' to allow their computers to be used as netbots -( I'm sure someone can enlighten us???). I understand (from my youngest stepson) that they used to be a very shadowy, secretive group, but are more mainstream these days.
  3. Never had you down as a rebel BANG............
  4. Just a suggestion........ .http://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/index.php?gclid=CKSEvpS6nbkCFZQZtAodwiQAFw Let us know how you get on !!
  5. Yep - SlingShot Forum. They seem to take the subject very seriously, but it has to be said that their level of expertise and knowledge is superb.
  6. are you homosexual? yes.... That a problem? .... You told me you weren't gay ............you'd just slept with loads of men who are !!! You realise it's over now....

No worries. I'll be using my best Welsh accent....butty! There's lovely, look you ! Rugby and Ray Reardon and Katherine Jenkins and all that, butty!! (I'm not really Welsh.....ssshhhh !)
  8. You don't need much experience, and your skills develop with each one you make - I think I cut 5 or 6 before I hit on one that I was happy with ! That's the fun of it - it's personal to you. I'm sure the guys here will be happy to help in any way they can. Don't be frightened to ask...........
  9. Greetings from a fellow Notts - er! (I just invented a word!) Stick to rabbits and woodies (edible, commonly available and easily identified), but for 'fun' magpies and crows don't sit still too long, so provide a more difficult target, provided you can dispose of them ! I've been known to use mine quite close to houses sometimes, as they make very little noise and are easily pocketed. I prefer to use 10mm ball bearings or glass marbles, but like most things, it's a personal choice - just have fun !!
  10. "Money makes Halliburton go round......." (Just re-read Nik B's last post - the only time I've ever seen the words "civilised" and "muslims" in the same sentence!) Leave 'em to get on with it, I say!!
  11. If it's any help, mate, I made a block last night - finally got it to work! - about 5 X 6 inches and a little over 1/2 inch thick. Used 5 milk bottles (4 pinters) and lids, added a couple of 'Vanish' powder containers for colour, and squashed with G clamps for better pressure. I cut the pieces smaller this time - less than 1/2 inch square - and they softened a lot more evenly.Think that's where I'd been going wrong!! Good luck ,pal !!
  12. Flick hammer............now there's a challenge!!
  13. Dont you try and get into the proffession either the catty sold for £84 The way I see things is that something is only worth what I'm willing to pay ........and I don't claim to be an expert like the jumped-up oiks on TV!!
  14. They had one on "Bargain Hunt" earlier today. All present nodded that it was probably African, hand-carved and from the 30's or 40's, but couldn't identify the type of wood. Price agreed at £69, and off to auction they went............... Where it sold for £35 - some 'expert' !!
  15. Nah!! You could get a new one for less than that! Reckon they'll get about 65 quid for it?
  16. Keep us posted, mate - we'll think of you while we're cutting up milk cartons!
  17. Welcome, mate! Sounds like you could already tell some of us a few stories! Look forward to seeing you around........
  18. As someone born and bred in God's own city, welcome buddy! There's a few of us here- I'm sure they'll make themselves known. You can take the boy out of Nottingham and all that!! Good luck and ATB
  19. Make up your mind! 4 inches or a centimetre?!?! 1 single Cm In 'depth' Or like you thick? just like most on here - lacking any depth!!
  20. Looking forward to seeing it,mate! My first attempt was a disaster - think I need to cut the pieces up smaller, they didn't melt enough to mould properly. Putting a bright pink 'Vanish' container in this time! Wish me luck, honky-tonks!
  21. My wife's got a couple of well-bred pups that are definitely not for sale!!
  22. ......or maybe they just see more combat than ever before ? More combat than WW1 and WW2...........really? I thought it was more hands on then. I should explain - I meant that intense, 'full-on' combat is now a regular and 'normal' part of military service. Example-I have 4 uncles who all served over 20 years each,as well as a cousin who served 12 years - not one of them ever fired a shot in anger, but I recently saw a documentary where a Company of troops (Para's I think) came under hostile fire every single day, sometimes several times a day, for 4 weeks. World Wars are rare e
  23. ......or maybe they just see more combat than ever before ?
  24. I might hang one up and microwave the other - be interesting to see which makes the best catty. Thanks for the wax tips (the tips about wax, not......never mind!) I hadn't thought of that. Cheers Guys! BB
