  1. Villagers in Pottery St Mary are pleased to have UK's first colony of truly wild beavers living near them. No-one is certain where they came from, but a small family of beavers has set up home on the River Otter in Devon. The animals will be trapped and disease-tested, before being allowed to remain, under management of Natural England. But while villagers may welcome the beavers, the Angling Trust are far from happy and are deeply concerned about the animals effect on local water courses and migratory fish runs. Supporters claim that the beavers are beneficial to their ecosystem,
  2. Can I say from the outset that all my dogs are pets, but that I want to do the best by them that I can (they do enjoy chasing squirrels, though!) After reading up on the horrors of commercial kibble, we began feeding them meat (cooked and raw) for about half the week. Now they won't touch the kibble, so they've made their minds up, and we've decided to go completely BARF. The dogs look much healthier and seem a lot happier, but I'd be grateful if you guys could clear up a couple of uncertainties for me. I looking to buy from a firm like Bulmers, so would I just add veg and offer bones t
  3. Nonsense, it's well documented and it's real.........now as we know Stalin killed around 12 million but unfortunately the victors always create the history. However to say they were well treated and it never happened is foolish......these were people were viewed somewhere below the beasts in the fields.as 'well documented' as chopped up bodies jumping about or cremated russians making green smoke and jews making grey etc there are a lot of jews who claim they were at first treated well...funnily enough we dont hear much from them. anyone who objectively studies it can only come to one conclusio
  4. If 'the system' shouldn't pay his fares because his mum's got a few quid, then surely he shouldn't be allowed to take up a state school place or NHS resources ? One of my sisters has a lad who has a rare genetic condition, and she has her own business which makes her a good living. But, believe me, she still needs all the help she he can lay her hands on ................... The services are provided for the child's benefit, irrespective of the parent's circumstances. She pays her taxes, she's has entitled as anyone else !
  5. You don't get the allowance AND a car - one pays for the other, and DLA is not means tested, so anyone can receive it, provided you pass the necessary assessments, regardless of income. Same for Child Benefit - and she certainly isn't the only wealthy person who gets that !
  6. While the scale of the slaughter of the Jews is difficult to comprehend,we should also remember the countless thousands of gypsies, Catholics, gays and disabled who suffered a similar fate.
  7. I was having trouble with my Staffie, so I phoned the vet. "He's brown, aggressive and liable to attack without warning. What should I do" I asked. "Muzzle him" said the vet. "No" I said "I think he's an atheist !"

  8. Ive read that it was (allegedly) the Labour MP Bessie Braddock who said to him "Winston, you are drunk !", and without missing a beat, he replied "Dear lady, you are ugly ! But in the morning I will be sober !"
  9. I've been like that most of my life !!
  10. Could be some truth in it ! Look how many countries the Jews have taken over and how many millions they've ruthlessly murdered down the years...... oh, hang on! No, now I think about it, it's a load of bollox !!
  11. I've got one similar to that, but it just has a long straight handle, like you see Americans using. Great for shifting sand, gravel and loose stuff. Useless for digging a hole with.
  12. You could always do what I did and buy the book ! (Remember them anyone ?)
  13. Nice one Walshie ! We should all be commemorating the life of one of our greatest heroes, not flying flags at half mast for some Arab tyrant !! Can't help thinking that if the great man was here today, things might be a different.........
  14. "Horse with no name" by America ............. Never tire of hearing it !
  15. Very well put.......near death experiences simply teach you that its better to be alive than dead nobody can lie about it thats why its called survival instinct.........to then have this acceptance of death and almost disregard for quality of life makes me quite angry to be honest. in simple terms , the reason i stopped smoking 22 years ago , was not because I couldn't afford it, or what other people thought of my smoking habit , as l liked a smoke after a meal, or when out having few pints I thought it was great . but the reason I stopped for, was pissed off of coughing my fookin g
  16. Why such glowing eulogies from world leaders ? Could it have anything to do with Saudi Arabia being the world's largest oil producer ............... ??
  17. The death of King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia has been announced. David CamMoron has praised the late king form"strengthening understanding between faiths" and for "his commitment to peace", while President Obama has praised him as a leader who "had the courage of his convictions". Only recently were Saudi women granted the right to drive alone (!), but still require a male relative's permission to travel or even to leave the house alone. Religions other than Islam are absolutely forbidden - the building of churches , synagogues etc is not allowed and foreign priests are no

  19. Bit of a tangent, but I've got no chimney. How easy would it be to fit a burner ?
  20. Good job they don't put a tax on sex................ I'd be due a rebate ! My biggest bugbear is government health warnings being issued by governments who make a fortune out of such vices as tobacco and alcohol. They haven't got the nuts to take one side or the other- drop the taxes and leave smokers alone or ban tobacco completely !
  21. I agree ! If you want to smoke, that's your choice, but if you're addicted is it really a choice ????
  22. I'll hazard a guess at 73p..... Back in the knife drawer, Ross !
  23. its that first smoke in the morning that single draw that lets you go too work with out killing some one I gave up 7 years ago, and I have to admit to still missing that one now and then !
  24. The government is planning to bring forward new laws to ensure that cigarettes are only sold in plain packets. I say plain, but the packs are emblazoned with graphic pictures of smoking-related diseases, although they are plain dark colours, with no brand name visible. The new laws will bring the UK in line with Australia, who already have such regulations. The new laws are designed to deter new smokers, especially the young and, in truth, the number of smokers has fallen significantly in recent years, but this could be due to wider social pressures and the smoking ban, rather than smo
  25. Geek joke warning !! Why doesn't Magneto wear purple any more ? Because the days of fuscia passed ! (I'll get my coat !)
