It looks as it has been chewed a wee bit & i would say another fox & they have went for the heart-lungs etc as they eat lambs like this they like the offal.

Well done same as my first gun & i still have a bakial & my 5yrs old daughter says its hers now. You will have to check his eye dominince & maybe cut stock like mine was when i was 10yrs old. Kept the other bit of stock & is back on has been for 15yrs or so.

The 150g would be good for what you need im no nosler fan but have shoot 2 308's that liked them.

Try south yorkshire shooting supplys the are very good & also trade under rimfiremagic.

Yeh the 6 you have are correct but the red/sika hybrids are just vermin & should have no season on sex through the hind/doe season of other species. As for deer management/numbers game at a high level is not for the faint hearted.

Do us Scot's still need a game licence i had one last year but has slipped my mind if we still need. Said to my brother about it & he said he asked post office & they said no need it any more.

I had a cracker this morning with 2 last year doe kids & he was giving a wee bit chase for 5-10mins than it stopped. He never chased again for the couple hours i sat for him.

Go right back to basic's but sit him for longer periods than you would with a pup do the dummy thing but only give him 1 in 10. this should have been done at a 1 year or so as part of his trainning & is the reason you go over it for 6-8 months or so to steady any dog right up & only on your command then you enter them gently into the real thing on a wee walk with a friend & see how it goes. As you will get teething probs.

I have got a shot of a 90m longnet & want to try it out but no poles. I was thinking of getting 10mm steel rod & cutting 1m long 10-12 of. Would 10-12 be enough & will 1m long each one be ok whats your thoughts/advice please.

Hi foxy well done to you im not seeing much in a morning stalk but evenings are good soon be the rut.

I have no probs with it at winter time as i have done nightshooting of deer when cover is low & it was buck/doe stag/hind but at this time of year i find it strange you get a licence to shoot does its a no,no for me. I cant even see the DCS or scottish FC allowing does to be shot until season then they will grant an open licence for nightshooting on all deer in wood. The 22.250 is a great cal with correct bullets iv shot hundereds with mine but have a 25/06 aswell which is good for nightshooting but you really need to be a very good shot & experianced to do this type of work.

V-Max, i mean no dis-respect what-so-ever, but i have to dis-agree with this statement. I have handled a good few roe, with good sets on them. And have always over-powered them with ease, and held them down. The only time i have been injured off a roe, is when i was holding the antlers, while my mate was cutting the head off (roe was dead, OF COURSE) and it caught my hand as the head dropped and stabbed me a bit Again, VMAX i mean no dis-respect Well how do you get to handle live roe as iv done it for 14yrs & shot near a thousand deer to my name & never handled more

In fair play to dotty i think he ment the stalking on the whole on the place as roe can be very costly & forgin hunters will pay highly for stalking rights on an estate as it's very expensive in certian parts in europe. But still i think you went round it all wrong & why build a pen like you did. I do it were i can lift a corner for such things & winter time to push the bird through when doing the drive & birds run out no probs as i dident need dogs in a pen adding to the bag like foxes in a frenzie. Its common knowledge when building a pen to take things like trapped deer/run

If your using the knife after a neck shot you are off the mark as its as quick/good as a head shot done right. Yeh some times you will need to use the knife but say 1-2 in 10 in would say.

You did the right thing but it depends on the situation of safty & ccommand you have on the deer & how unwell your pricket is & how good you are at shooting. If you had a great command & can shoot & you read that the beast was bad to a point you could have taken the big lad then the pricket but it could go all wrong & pricket never had.

I wouldent think you need lub to neck size & each bullet will have a diffrent ogive thus each seating depth will change. I work a case with the neck cut & push a bullet in & no more then place into the rifle & chamber & the bullet will be pushed in to seating depth of your rifle. To measure properly you need a comparater of size & base but i dont have yet. Once you have size back it off 10 thou-50 thou it depends on how your rifle likes it you will have to experamint.

Well your a lucky man roe can be very deadly to handle live with antlers & sharp feet. Why dident you just push them out the gate???? or make a hole & leave them to find it. Roe suffer very bad from human interfearance & more offten than not die due to stress. Sorry but i feel you went about it all wrong & put you & the deer at risk you are very lucky it has a happy ending.

I carry 2-3 knifes as i have a knife fetash. I take the blader rectum out via an anal pertrusion & the ribs i leave whole but do take the pluck out leaving the liver & kidneys. I also have a gerber exchange a blade saw with fine blade for splitting but am getting a proper bone saw for that at home.

The doe goes & gets the buck she wants to mate with what you have see is the build up & bucks on the move testing there marches or neighbouring bucks. Dont take this to heart but for anybody new to this i would advise they read up on the species of deer they stalk & learn there behavour & patterns as what you have seen is normal & may/june are very good months to catch them out on the move & see new bucks or big bucks.

Hey RickyN-p-p i do a bit up here on my local coast & its great hard sport & i call it my rough dimmond. I do have a local club on the reserve but have good foreshore sport here but fancy trying the Tay myself never shot it myself.

Nice wee read FD & a nice skinner being headshot & get a roe sack for god sake.

Case length has nothing to do with it & a factory rifle is made to a SAMMI speck so has a loose tolerance in headspace. Resizine the swollen case after it has been shot in the chammber is what this thread is about either FL-size to SAMMI speck or neck size hence Snapshots comment on extration being hard. FL-sizing dose the sholders etc so it makes it easy to chammber as the brass has been squeezed back to a tolerance to work in any SAMMI speck rifle. Once fired the case swels to chammber dimentions again & needs worked again thus case life is poorer than neck sizing only but neck siz

You will find that the 224" cal heads like nosler BT & v-max etc are not for deer use as they are a varmint bullet. I will be honest & say i shoot roe with v-max with no probs but have found the 22.250 a great cal & drops the roe well but can be quite hard on the carcase with a SP due to its velocity. I cant tell you the starting load for N140 but my data gives 37.1g as max charge & i used to load 37-37.1g but have backed off to 36g when i load 55g bullet with N140. I got Hodgdons BL-C2 & Varget both 1lb tubs for £10 each & im on the BL-C2 just now with 50g v-max. I us

I have used them & they were good but can be very explosive too. I was using 37.1g N140 & this is a max charge & i now work 36g for 55g bullets & i use cci primmers.
