Your in for a long wait foxy theres a cue you might see my name in it next week for the Scottish review
-
Well done to you & hope many more come. From sounds you stalked your self into the roe & was it just recently you shot the doe.Hay foxy i dont see your name in the english roe review when you going to shoot a gold your out enough to justify it.

This is quite an inteesting topic & like all things theres the ups & downs. In a sense of that of the keeper i would rather have 10-20-30thou of birds as its you that gets out your bed to do the same job with 1,000 but they can disapeare easyer & i would rather carry more feed etc to do the job some do for 1-2thou birds. All the vermin control & hard/long hours is in the spring/summer when your quiet is for the protection of wild birds thus for shooting in winter.I love my vermin & the long hours involved with bring on game & would hate to be doing for 10 days shooting.I

I use them & there ok but i got them because i got them for £5-£6 a box of 25 but quite fancy a go with the Hevi-shot from express.

Looks like iv broke the rule shottyscotty & proved it can be done then as it worked for me as it all i have.I cant aford any more & the very first skene of 30/40 came straight in & 3 landed before i started to shoot.I will admit i would like 15/25 deeks & my intention was that of pulling them close enough just for the shot & found they come well to my call even without deeks as i did with my brother & friend just before xmas they came from 1mile or so right over us & we got 3.

The roe deer have a diffrent life to the rest in a way.I have no knowledge of munty/CWD but fallow/red/sika all have the same kind of cyicle ie rut.Not sure on fallow but red/sika cast & regrow antlers at diffrent times of the year roe are growing them & some starting to clean & red/sika are casting them to re grow theres.

Roe heads vary greatly on area & for medal heads its all in the weight of skull/antlers.I have a number of heads over 8" & my biggest is gold.
-
Very nice looking but they grow real funny & look ugly sometimes.I would chase up for the papers.

Nice well done.

Hello FJ i have no experiance of the 6.5 at all.I dont like the 270 for it recoil/noise but have seen it perform well & is pretty much standary round for forestry commision for woodland stalking to put them down on the spot.I have seen deer run with many cals so no hard fast rule as you know bullet placment is key.Iv seen the 22.250 damage a lot of meat like a 270.I liked the 243 but wanted a little more but not a 270 fan thus i got a 25/06 but it likes the powder but its recoil with mod etc is that of a 243 & found it performs well on our deer with very little run & grown popular

Plenty deer up there.

The dog is bred by myself just over 10yrs ago & was runt of the litter. He has done alot of pheasant/partridge & duck work for me & some grouse on the Scottish moors.Im just in from a walked up day beating for an estate with him & half sister but at 10 he is semi retired & normally my wildfowling dog now.
-
Im no 270 fan but it is quite a round for long range punch & flatish shooting & good on paper ie balistics & would be good homeloaded i use a 25/06.

Hello foxy my motor was off the road but back on now & my does local go nocturnal due to people walking first & last light but hope to get at them & with my mate but might have landed a good wee part time job to help my fuel funds too.Blackdug i was using some old winchester 36g No.3 in 2.3/4" but had some 3" 50g No.3 & BB but nevr needed them.

I have a SBS sable deluxe sidelock & only use it for keeper days or my own shoot odd days.I have a semi-auto for my main shooting form foxes to wildfowling on the foreshore.Only use my SBS max 5 times a year now but must admit i shot poorly with it last year keeper days.I have used it twice this year on my own shoot walked up & hardly missed with it so looking forward to keeper days with it.

Hello depends on the disaplin of game gun from driven to walked up.I like SBS & have a sable deluxe sidelock 26" barrel in improved cy & 1/4 choke with DT.I shoot well with it at driven & walked up but think its great for walked up due to its lightness & flat side under the action to rest on the forearm when walking or broken.Even though i have shot high birds with 1st barrel next to lads with 28"/30" barrels & tighter chokes & killed better so has proved to me that it can be done & its a mental thing.I must admit i like 28" barrels & 1/4 1/2 or 3/4 choke &

Went out this morning & set up with deeks by 8am.Im only 3-4miles from marsh & have seen hundreds of geese on fields 1/4mile from my ground. My field is on a flight line for geese going inland.Seen my first skein 30-40 geese & they came right in & i took 2 for 3 shots.Got a nice high single goose that came from no whare & got more odd skeins come in but only got 1 more & another that went down back towards my jeep 300-400m a way & got it on way back.I took some pics of more as i was happy with 5 pinks but could have easy had more.My call is a SCOTCH CALL & not a

Hello took my brother/mate & myself out on saturday to the geese as i have good flight lines at them. The new goose call we got had its trial & its the dogs dangles i was pulling them from a mile or so right over us & my brother got his FIRST goose & we each got a pinker so finished with 3 pinks.Left my camera at home but thinking of going out 27th to another bit with deek's.

Hello for 2-3k i would go semi-custom to custom as it could be done if you shop a round. As for cals there is so many & africa too as they have a minimum cal required for shooting & i would go 7mm-mag etc but its a bit much for uk deer but works. -
The one thing i dont have is a decent pond or splash fo ducks & hell i miss it good sport to be had.Nice wee cocker how is she doing?
-
I could beleave the damage as i help my mate up north & he has neep fields that are white thanks to deer chipping them. Not so bad as most are for feed but iv seen over 20 roe in the fields & its a pain to stalk & the roe can be stupid most down was 8 in a go it was fun but hard work.
