  1. Well done great to see these little deer as they appeal to me as reds etc too much work.Very rare to see a chink on any sites dose any body have or shoot them?
  2. Well done nice result for you both hope to get my jeep back on the road & get my wings again so i can go lamping stalking as i aint been able to do nowt.
  3. As has been said & any body with dogs will know its down to handler error & any brred well trained is a joy to whatch either lab/spaniel or a pointer breed when worked & handeld well its amazine & in insperation.I like GWP but dont have 1 but quite a intresting set up you mentioned K9WPG with the pointer/spaniel as iv seen a few that do it all ie point-fush-retreive but it worked. As for cockers picking cock pheasants that was my worrie with my 15month dog but no prob's even a peged/runner is picked & deliverd with ease & softly.
  4. Hello many facts have been stated here as choice of gun for wildfowling & im on a S/A too for geese etc as stated by wag.The fact is a gun is safe to a point as it can have a fault as its man made but 100% muzzel awareness at all times as its the handler thats dangours. All the S/A i have seen only lock back on an empty gun or 1 to be loaded thus safe but i have an old white sock to put in to show its safe to all around me if needed.
  5. A beating course what next?.Just get in contact in your area as they struggle in my area for beaters at times. As for running a line of beaters i thought i spoke latin or something but nothing queerer than folk.
  6. I use for mallard a Haydel's DR-85 doublereed mallard & its realy good for me & im no pro at using it i think but it works well. Our goose call is a Haydel's but not sure what model. Not used it in the field yet but have turnned geese a few times now from the garden etc right over us but in the field with a gun you know the score.
  7. Hello for madhunters sake there is many places up & down Scotland & clubs.Where are you (PM) me if you wish as im in a wildfowling area well knowen. There is a club here but you can obtain permits as a non memeber & think the eden in Fife the same.I do quite a bit on the foreshore where anyone can go but its my rough diamond/secret place as i never see people there.

    question

Hi alimac this is a strange 1 on me but i dont know the laws that well as there so many to know.I thought you could take someone out as long as you were there to mentor them ie 2ft away at all times.I know your area & they are very good in my eyes with FAC/SGC unlike Tayside they hate guns.I was loading for people that had never shot before last year & this is quite common now a days on shoots & the loader is there to help keep safe & instruct as long they hold SGC + insurance. Was at a shoot last week & a gun went for a black=bird .As for guns in the car boot im speachless
  9. Good 1 nice beast to take out & i now see he has a missing brow tine.
  10. Hello sorry for the confusion on what i put with dogs but your trialing dogs are more polished off in obejence compared with joe bloggs doing a bit beating etc.I have seen so many good dogs & very obejent like a trialing dog & more that just know how to fool there owners & like myself with my cocker he is great but know he could be better but he dosent damage drives & im happy.
  11. Hello & i see this is a topic with not much knowledge or people that have very little experiance with 1 of the hardest process of deer work if you do it to a high standard.FJager very nice pic but i see too much knife work in your process of skinning that hind but you have the right idea with the sheep stand to keep it clean from hair & dirt.Use your fist more once the beast has been skinned on the inside of all legs & the brissket down to the haunches.Try use the knifle little as poss & keep your hands clean that touch the meat as it marks so easy.
  12. Nice 1 spud & its harder not to pull the trigger on these reds.Reds are good fun if you have the equipment for extraction but nightmare if not.Thats 1 funny but cracking head on him & the hinds would be easyer for you shoot them they taste better than a run stag.
  13. Hello mate yes roe like the wheat & its thanks to more pheasant shoots up & down the country that the roe do better & most of the big bucks can get so big.As you know me & the quality of bucks i shoot & my wheat feeders get hammered.
  14. A soft point can be just as bad as BT-bullets & a fox can be hard to find once dead in the dark.Best keep a mark & pic or check in day light for it.
  15. Hello i got my sections from caninekennels 2mx1.5m.A small kennel aint bad but you need to let the dog out more or walk it.The kennel in your pic to me would hold 3/4 cockers if they were ok together but i like mine in 1 each as you never know.
  16. Nice pair the fallow look a in top nic & well come to you.
  17. Well done a good ending to what could have been a bad 1.
  18. Hello not getting onto you K9wpg just pointed out what i thought you were on about as it might have missled gogogadget as there is many asspects to our fieldsports etc dogs & you should know the varations in working dogs from trialing to the wildfowler many diffrent asspects.
  19. Hello it swings in round abouts & pending on place.Wag has stated real hard wildfowling on the coast/estuarys/mudflat's & they are tideal based for shooting.I think K9wpg is talking of a flight-pond which you feed which is best shot on an evening & are fed & sucsessful if worked right & shots garenteed.Pond's are easy to monitor & work as it takes little effort compared with that of learning flightline in certian wind's over many year's of being out there & very little garentee of taking a shot on the coast.
  20. Hi Nicola are you running in the championship this year? & how do you feel judges look toward's you bigish dog as many dog's are quite small that trial & look like a big cocker to me.
  21. Nice beast good to hear you had down hill drag.Your season's with the antlerless sure is irish.
  22. Is that the bullet placement just at the back of the ear in 1 of the pic's.Nice beast but dont know F-all on fallow.
  23. It's good but fair doing the round's it's the most famous fox i have seen on the internet.
  24. Hello nice foxy mate you have had a few now eh!.You need to get a range finder for getting distance for a start.
  25. Hello i take it the trainer is a trialling person.Used to get them on estates doing rabbit's alot & taking odd days at game to get there dog's going & it can work in either way.You could gain a friend & quite a good dog that aint up to spec but a good dog for you but if it's you own land it's down to your trust.
