  1. Every calibre out there will not drop the animal if shot placement isn't near where it needs to be, i had only ever one deer run with the .243 and that was due to poor bullet choice on my very first outing. However i have seen deer run with the .270, .308 30-06 and the 6.5 and it was all down to shooter error.. some of the deer where only about yards away too... If you need the extra surity of putting the animal down, because you feel you may need it so be it... Its the age old gripe, if the shot isn't on target then you will encounter problems no matter what calibre your shoo
  2. http://www.xcweather.co.uk/GB/forecast Not looking good.... Snap.
  3. If the gun is brand new did you give the barrel a good cleaning before shooting it....? check to see that the scope has no right or left cant on it, by making sure the crosshairs are vertically straight... check all mounts, screws are tight... then try a few different brands of ammo.. if still no joy, try changing the scope and seeing does that help. Snap.
  4. very nice again kay.... really like the first shot...
  5. cheers marie...... hope your keeping that hubbie of your outta trouble....hehe Snap.
  6. Thank you guys.... trace, i'd think you may be a little older...... but just a little.....hehe thanks Snap.
  7. That mess has to be dumped by a commerical shoot......... Snap.
  8. i had a mate buy a nightforce for stalking we went out one morning and he couldn't see the deer through his scope... while i could clearly make them out with the leupold..... he sold it the following week............ Snap.
  9. happy christmas................ er sorry i mean birthday.............. lol enjoy your day. Snap.
  10. i just scrub with the bronze brush a few times, then patch the rest out..... to get a good deep clean off the barrel. try getting the copper out first then the carbon..... Snap.
  11. I'd personally say start of with a .22 lr, learn the basics cut your teeth on it, main reason is you won't pick up so many bad habbits learning on a calibre that is easy on recoil, noise etc. it's also a calibre that will challange your marksmanship skills at relatively short ranges... Its also cheap to shoot which means you can get lots of prctice in for a relatively little price, Not the same if you shoot a centre fire.... All the best. Snap.
  12. I'll leave it soaking in KG1 from, 8 til 1, then KG12 from 1.30 until 5 and test again. don't forget to give it a good scrubbing too.... at the end of the soak.
  13. Good litter there mate, all looking well, i'll hopefully get my crap sorted, and have an ESS, or sprocker, hopefully sometime soon... good luck with them. Snap.
  14. low light levels, S&B and leupold are good.... but personal preference is up to you..... both the makers above do good solid varaible power scopes...
  15. seems to me like its a copper problem then and you need to put some time in getting it sorted.... Also a good carbon remover too ... Snap.
  16. the last resort is to check all the fittings fixtures are tight. next is a good copper cleaning routine, as even though the .17 is a rimfire it still is pushing a fair velocity, hence leaving traces of copper in the barrel.... hope you get sorted... Snap.
  17. This is what i had to do to get mine shooting.... try and see if the barrel is free floating.... by sliding a piece of paper up between the barrel and stock to it touches the action. On most of the CZ American's there is a little sticky point on the right hand side, take the stock of the gun... sand where the barrel touches the stock, and then apply a coat of varnish and let dry.... they shoot best when mildly dirty.... and take a while to settle after cleaning... if you don't have it done already, change the trigger too.... for all of about 12 pounds from rimfire magic...
  18. i agree about all said about the nightforce scopes, they are built like tanks, positive clicks, excellent tracking, but in low light levels, i have to say i would of expected better for the money, leupold and S&B beat it hands down on this front.... hence, see if you can look through the scopes in the field before you buy.. Snap.
  19. he's not much of a smiler like his dad............ hehe In all seriousness good to see you getting out there with the young un's. good result too. Snap.
