  1. Training & excercise.....! Do 'em both as much as possible. Keep your pup busy. lab's have a justified reputation for chewing but as with any other breed it's usually simulation (or the lack of it) thats the cause. The good thing is, you'll get out what you put in. You can also, as there's nowt worse than seeing a well built kennel being rendered into splinters, put anti chew strips (I have used metal corner stuff for plastering, with good results) around doors & wood edging. Best of luck
  2. Yep, gets me frowning every time I look at it. Oh and just so its not all bad, Dan usually has good 'uns
  3. Two firsts, a third and a plastic bag being pulled on a long line at high speed....... Would the 99 snatched from a childs hand count also.....?
  4. Always better to sow a new lawn in autumn or spring Higgins but if you can't wait.... Prep your ground well, clear as much out as poss, level and firm over by using your feet in tiny steps. Buy any decent seed but without Rye in it. Scatter seed well and lightly rake in. Water well in this weather, always in the evening, never in full sun. Once the grass is up enough to start bending and looking a little raggety, set your mower on a high cut and take the top off it. Don't cut too short for a few cuts to encourage it to thicken. If you get any weeds growing through pull 'em and if needed re-se
  5. One? As if you won't be buying 3!!!!! One for Daddy Bear ........... One for Mummy Bear ........... and one for Baby Bear! How good will we look at Netto's this Friday!!! And if you've got any money left, then I wouldn't mind one too please! Sure mate, and what size would you be wanting, the old XXL or, by the time the order comes through XXS.....!
  6. I've always thought Brian May to be a bell end, long before this rant, anyone who's Mrs is a mirror image of themselves is always gotta be suspect, point of fact, marrying that hatchet faced crone when your supposed to be a 'rock god' proves just how lame the fecker is..... this just confirms it...!
  7. Using a well bred bull cross 'only' for rabbits is a crying shame imo and there are other crosses far better at this job. If we are talking lamping? From the line i've predominanty had, i've owned halfs, three quarters and five eighths. The half crosses were by far the better dogs on rabbits, then the fives, then the three's and i'd stand by that in any decent dogs of this cross. As for hard mouthed, in terms of softest, it was the halfs again with the others in the same order. If a dog is well schooled in what it does, its generally soft enough on this type of quarry and will never cr
  8. Might be up for one of these myself, I like a design thats hunting related and will make folk look twice when i'm wearing it. It's also small and 'sharp' at the same time. What makes me laugh is the price..... £20 for a decent original type design As some of you think that expensive, I'd love to see what half of you lot wear on a day to day basis, Primani must be like fecking Harrods!!!
  9. He lives about 2 miles from me OTC OTC, if ever the great man fancys giving one of them dogs of his a spin on the lamp, give me a shout, i'd be there in a flash, it'd be a fecking honor I seen those photos last year, couldn't believe my eyes fantastic, would have loved to have been there.
  10. Now I ain't knocking anyone who has tried to improve on what he has but.... I'd doubt Aaron would look to make such a thing, he's been into bull breeds for enough years and probs seen all there is on the market. Those spring things, i've used before, bought a lead with one in the States about 15 years ago. Didn't like it, felt weird, a constant pull on the arm but with a jerk too... The other problem was that it lasted one rainy day, in that they ain't usually made well and mine rusted to feck, after one shower. My thoughts would be to firstly stop the constant pulling, which can b
  11. From my earliest memory we had a black mongrel collie type thing. The result of my grandparents farm bred border collie and the local garage Alsation guard mutt. My mams dog, there are photos of me age six months with the pup on my lap. 'Trixy' (classic name ) lived on the couch all her life, the 'living cushion' we called her as kids, never wore a lead or collar and only ventured out to sniff to the front step, to see which dog had pissed up it that day and then only when she thought her speck was 'safe' on the couch. Come the summer and it 'altered slightly', we spent all our summers in
  12. If you ain't ever heard it, for me, as good as it gets..... play it through.....
  13. Without me trawling through, anyone put this up as a summer song..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqYBGcv41M8
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SmBlaWXxWo An old 'local' summer song. the band is totally forgettable but the song.....
  15. Thats a bonny bitch Mat, like the name Bess too, please tell us more of her breeding and ancestry if you know it.
  16. Dee, i've seen quite a few Gouldy bred russells 'work', back in the day when Flint was alive, a fair few were pups off him, never seen one that i'd feed, never mind own. Maybe now there are decent lines off that stuff but this far down the line, if they are any good, i'd be wondering what, of the old stuff, would come back out in any future litters to bite ya in the ass!
  17. I think your spot on Dee, you've put that over in the simplest of terms, dead right.
  18. I'd agree with that fmwtc, would like to see how they turn out, keep us posted
  19. Interesting cross Woods, what are you looking to do with 'em, run 'em as lurchers, or hunt 'em as hounds. Maybe a bit of both? Gotta say, cute as feck in that crate, I like the one that thinks its a film star!
  20. A 'Whin machine', was wondering what one of those looked like...... And very nice too, i do like that dog, best of luck with it Border
  21. It's a good point SS and one you've answered yourself.....
  22. A great many, if not most, hunting folk are city dwellers. I lived for 42 years in Liverpool 4, it dosen't get more urban than that! But i've always found my escapism in the countryside. Long before I could drive I used public transport. As for local land owners, if you don't ask, you'll never know.... As for hunting in your blood, why not give it a go, your obviously a lurcher enthusiast, why not see your dogs really doing what they were bred for, you'll see 'em in a whole new light?
  23. Crackin pics Hannah. All the better in black & white
