It's not my thing to write reviews on here, never thought I would but I thought i'd share with you the best piece of kit i've had in a long while. I've been wearing Paramo Trail shirts in the field for about 7 years and find them superb. It'll keep you warm in winter and cool in summer as its reversable, it's tough, smart and you never have to iron it. If your on a demanding outing it'll keep you bone dry too as it 'wicks' away any moisture. If I'm honest, they are pricey but it will last you years. Always worn next to the skin as a base layer, you only need an outer shell in the m

lamping rats on the beach with the patt's
Bosun11 replied to MYDOGSNUTS's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
it ain't difficul to tune 'em in on lamping rats, you really don't have to teach 'em anything. Firstly, find a decent place for rats, ditches are good, farm buildings, with permission of course, etc. If your dogs have hunted before they'll know the scent and that its game on, all you have to do is walk round shining on any rats you encounter and encourage your dogs on 'em, as sometimes its a little different with the hight difference between you and your terrier, you can see it but your dog cant. They'll soon click that the rats are to be found at the end of the light and will forever more. -
lamping rats on the beach with the patt's

Good result, used to love lamping rats. Used to do 'em on Crosby shore, as well as along ditches, great fun -
My first half x bull, for the first year of his life was brought up with my ferrets but after that i'd changed things a bit and mostly lamped and so my ferrets went. He never saw one from then on and grew to be everything I wanted from the cross, game as anything i've seen, he had taken everything. By his sixth year we were lamping along the dunes. Spinning the lamp round the beam lit up a pair of ruby eyes next to a patch of maram grass, definatley not a bunny, not quite a cat, smaller, maybe a fox cub but it was January. Feck it, against my better judgement I hissed him on. He tore down the

Just stick 'em in with the smooths, unders and overs, all feckin 'Lurchers' anyway, I'm sure that judge knows his onions, if they are good enough, they'll win it.

That'd be Walton Hall park Marty, been turtles there for as long as I remember. Local fishermen kept 'em well fed and they survived the winters. Someone took 'em about 7 or 8 years back and the fishermen (in number!) 'went round' and got 'em back. As far as I know they are still there.

I love the tale to pose the question Caugusgiorrai For me it's changed nothing, in the field or about my dogs, i've always tried to seek the best of advice and apply it to my passion and I believe your never to old to share and learn. Thats what this forum should be about....!! If anything i probably was more discontent before I ever was online, these days i've mellowed a little, with age! I'll still forever try to improve my lott but won't go to the same lengths as I did.

Never owned a half X bull yet that couldn't use its nose and use it well, they'll find and mark as good as any if ya 'just tune 'em in'. Got one now, thats lost its eye, so is semi-retired from the lamp, he's getting real good at finding quarry daytime, sometimes too good!

Some crackin replys to what is one of the better, more thought out posts on here. I'm in agreement with Chalks on that 'primitive' hunting gene and with Duckwing on the 'best' way to get the most out of this type. I've never belived these dogs are ignorant but more require a type of 'bond' between them and their owners, certainly in my expierience, being constantly 'out', doing whatever, has been the way to produce the best of this type I have seen! Don't get me wrong, if all you reqire is 'point and slip' on a distant speck on the horizon, plenty will never have to give more than good

Looks this morning like we've got 12 months with a hung parliment 12 months of more political shite on every news channel, deals on this, deals on that...In a already fecked up world economy, this is the last thing this country needs! We can only hope that, over the coming months politicians grow a backbone and come back at us with some real policys and go at it again with a 'shit or bust' attitude, which this country so badly requires!

Christ...!! What a load of strange feckers you all are, don't eat it, ain't tried it......! Bout 3 million takeaway outlets all over this country, so someone on here must feckin like it...????? Me..... Indian everytime, bored with chinese, every chippy tastes the same and its a million miles away from 'real' chinese food. What pisses me off even more, is the fact that if i'm in a resterant Liverpools china town, I'll usually drop into one that I can see chinese dining in, they always are eating some spectacular grub but try and ask for the same thing and you've got no chance, you'll

Chris, get that hutch finished off pronto, ferrets 'usually' don't go far and unless you live in a very rural area, you might find that a neighbour wakes this morning with a 'strange critter' dancing round their lawn. A domestic ferret, a well kept one, will have no fear of people and will not be shy around 'em, so keep your ears pricked locally and speak to a few, someone will probably spot it today. Best of luck

Recon that dog had taken umbridge to Liverpool council's stance on dangerous dogs! Pitbull 'type' he says......! Probably a little protective Staffy, pissed clean off with political flyers coming through the letterbox and acted accordingly.

I know exactly how you feel GTE, I did my 'homwork' last night with the same results..... But I did vote this afternoon, hopefully for 'the bigger picture'. We can only live in hope.....

Been watching this thred a bit. I suppose £200 is a fair price for a dog, lets face it, every dog should hold a value and things of value are 'usually' better looked after. But never a working terrier!!! Something so 'fragile' as 'genuine' working lines (and I am talking earth dogs here!), shouldn't ever hold a price! If the parents of puppies are 'that good' and their owners 'that keen', then there should be no 'surplus' to sell on, they would be coverted, begged for and held tight, for future generations.

GTG1 If you can't weld, there are a few who will pimp you a real terriermans digging tool. My mate advertises in EDRD, he's an expierienced terrierman with over 25 years digging behind him, he will make anything to spec. He'll source the best matierials (usually Bulldog) at the lowest prices and forge you sommat that'll last. His stuff has gone to some of the best and everyone has been more than pleased.

yep the ugly blonde on radio stated she will vote against any repeal if they get in power , wish i would have known when i nearly ran her over up the road from you she had broke down looked pissed as well Seriously though, thats just fecked up my vote, I only wish any of 'em would have come knocking on my door over the last few weeks as this would have been my first question..... b*****d!

Is that Conservative Debbie Jones GTE??? If so, then i'm fecked as well......!

When we are talking 'bulk' are we talking about putting weight on? If we are, then my two penneth worth would be to first worm out (as otherwise your waisting your time and money!) then feed good quality meat with a good quality complete meal, as Wirralman does and the two meals (one smaller) a day will help too. Many greyhound men would also keep the food 'sloppy', its advice that I've always used and for me it's worked. Then, more roadwork than free running, at first, as you can and should blend them to the opposite way round in a few weeks. If you are trying to bulk up an already fit

Totally agree AFT, Mayweather 'IS' that good....! Pacman won't beat him, of that i'm sure, as you said, Mayweather would 'adjust' and Pacman wouldn't cope. The only way I could see him losing would be to a big punching 'outsider' getting lucky but then again, Mayweather won't be fighting for much longer, so the odds on that are probably nil.
