  1. The original post says 'DOG' and then follows with 'what lines etc'...... It's a loaded question anywhere, nevermind an open forum. A question that can never be answered in the huge capacity of the 'lurcher world'. Let the dreamers dream and the tryers try and leave it there 'eh....?
  2. Ouch indeed....! And the moral of the story....... Scouse birds....... Don't piss 'em off !!!!!!
  3. It ain't my bag!!! Never put a dog in nor would I ever. Not my cup of tea. Don't even bother watching it if its on and would rather attend shows where it's not. I'd much rather see lurcher obedience, if its done correctly, or a dog simply playing in a field, than 'trying' to catch a plastic bag and hate the canine histeria that goes with it, dogs screenming for a run. If its what you enjoy then go right ahead, its just not for me!
  4. In the news this mornin talk of a 3 to 4 mil payout for him now but if he hangs on contractually they may have to fork out 16 mil to get shut!
  5. He's a big strong dog Gav, get him fit and well and who knows what he may do for you. Fair play to you for putting the time and effort in. If he's rescue, how do you know his breeding, or were you just throwing in a best guess? Edited to add, i've just seen the post on his breeding
  6. Thank you.... I've always wanted one of these!!! Can you also make the 'wheel' for this gallant little tyke, as I may as well use it in all its full glory, as well as killing critters, it can cook the sunday roast too!

It's definatley an old one, remember hearing of it as a kid, i'm 43 now, I have seen it since in tattoo mags, its called 'the fox hunt' if memory serves.
  8. A great mix mate, bring it on right and it'll do all you ask from it!
  9. Ha Ha mate, looking good on this house..... Think Sean gave you a good answer there but next time your round for a stroll, we can ask some of my neighbours, as they run on oil, I can't.... Bugger! For the open fire, I burnt a mixture through last winter of logs and smokless, was good, Wirralman is right in that a burner is better but I did enjoy the primeval burning type thing that goes well with the open, especially finding new stuff to ignite! Will bell ya tomorrow.
  10. I'd be right behind Poach, was a subscriber to EDRD from the start but found it was getting a bit 'same 'ol', which is a shame, as I really do admire Harcome and his dedication to the working dog. I'd stopped buying CMW about 10 years back, because it was so 'lame' in its writings and edits about working dogs, it just wanted to paint a glossy picture. I did buy it the other week, its improved a bit but not much. Right now i'll stick with this site, I enjoy it immensley. Both interesting and annoying, it keeps me entertained and I love the opportunity to reply exactley how I feel about a subje
  11. after reading your last post B&T's, this really IS a piss take..... Many thanks, I bit like a pike....!
  12. Just got in from work an this is the first i've heard of it...... Very sad, great actor Dennis Hopper. From his younger days in True Grit, Easy rider & Appocalips Now, to amazing performances in Blue Velvet and True Romance etc. Damn shame the bugger lost about 15 years of his life to drugs...... Couldn't remember a thing, only recolection of Appocalips was watching it back years later! A man who lived the dream....... RIP
  13. Yes stick to the original type of lurchers lyk Manchester terriers breed from the old english black & tan by crossing to whippets for rabbiting, rating, and taking fox. who needs all these new breeds saluki geys, colli greys, beddy grey, bull greys and your basic lurcher cross lurcher these people just make you laugh ! ££££££££££££A quotation from Bewicks book The General History of Quadrupeds, published in 1790 confirms the continued existence of the type and states “There are two types of terrier, one being smooth and sleek, beautifully formed, reddish brown or black in
  14. Good to hear about FD I like toads. You've reminded me to nip up to a local spot and see if the Natterjacks are also doing well, will try to get a pic or two also.
  15. Had a mate, when I was a kid, who used to take his nan's three Yorkies ratting, she didn't seem to mind (though I think he never really told her what 'exactly' he was doing with 'em)! Now, first i'd say that these wern't the tiny little things I see nowerdays. My Mrs aunt has one now that would struggle tackling a mouse, the mouse would probs run off with it. These were much bigger, stronger, animals (but please don't in anyway think they had anything like the frame or attitude of a working terrier, i'm talking Yorkies here) and would pack well and hunt rats all day long. Usually
  16. Vauxhall Chevette estate....... Or 'Shove-it'! Bought for £60. Passed my test on the Friday, bought the car on the Saturday and drove to Shropshire digging on the Sunday...... Those were the days!
  17. Yep, watched this a while back too, strange critter he is BUT it'd be a very dull world if we were all the same.....
  18. If it's the same Ad as I seen in the CMW a few weeks ago, then I have a same way bred dog to it, they are probably out the same litter. I'd like to think that if anyone is looking for that stuff and has a decent enough bitch, with the right reasons and best of intentions for creating the litter, they could have the line for free.
  19. Seen both him and his wife showing at Crufts the year before last. 'How hath the mighty fallen.'
  20. Think i've posted on this before but if anyone has not read it..... Hardley Ghostley but it scared the shite out of me! Now I like a lamp on my own, figure the only thing that goes 'bump in the night' is usually me finding a rut in a field in the dark! So, this one night i'm out at one of my fav haunts (no pun intended!) and spun over a few bunnys. The next fields i need to get on are on the other side of a long narrow wood. Couple of trodden paths through, i'm on one and about halfway. Jake, my then dog, goes tight as a drum and looks sharpish to the side, down the lengh of the wood.
  21. My brother has done a fair bit for years, had some bad spills but the buzz always takes him back. Have a look at this kid Jasper, little bit different and the music is good too.
  22. Your right Scot, we don't get honey from Bumble Bees, I think they do produce it but nither in enough quantity, as they don't live in large communities or it's not to our taste? Though i too have seen a fair few dead this year, which is a shame as I like the big bumbling summer dopes! In my garden there may be another reason, the big dumb, bumbling, one eyed, half bred I have, just cant resist 'em and snaps 'em dead on sight..... He'll come unstuck sometime......
  23. I'd agree with Dell and Alf, in that these days it's lurcher to lurcher bred for me. Ran most crosses over the years and once opon a time I was always interested in what breeds made up the dog, 'it's a saluki, collie, deerhound, cross whatever....etc', these days it's not really a factor, i'd rather go on 'parental ability' and even better if I can go back further than that. If they, (ancestry) suit my requirements in a dog then that would be the pup i'd always go for.
  24. Sorry to here that Daz, Vern's (love that name!) a crackin little looker and I remember how chuffed you were when you got him Daz, seems you still are. i'll keep my ears out too, for the RIGHT home. Best of luck.
