  3. Took my first half cross bull to the vet for its jabs (my usual supplier was on 3 weeker in Goa), the vet looked at the chunky wrinkle headed pup and asked what it was, 'Lurcher', I replied. 'Never seen one like it she said, whats in it?' 'Dunno' I said, 'Sommat big'. 'Looks like a Gt Dane' she said. 'Thats it!' I exclaimed, 'thats what the breeder said was in it' and so, she wrote it on the card. Bout two years later I reluctently went back to the same surgery but seen different vet. 'Buck, lurcher?' She said very unconvinced, by now he was all grown up and carried the

A great watch Wilf, been glued to it since its start. Though the tears were falling from my Mrs when that little Lab puppy didn't make it.
  8. Some very bonny dogs on here! Tomo that was well put BUT last time i seen you you'd lost a shed load of beef....! (Was that just the worry of sommat imminent!! ) I always like to hit the sunbeds before a show, anyone else...??? Al, great post too. Borderlad, is that the dog off Whin? Thing is i'd agree with a few posts on here, now is not the time to see dogs 'fit', mine ain't, looking well (for the time of year), YES, but 'match fit' NO! Lets not forget, toward the end of a hard grafting season, some dogs just don't look their best, not by a long chalk BUT fit, most
  9. They are bonny pups, that light brindle caught my eye, like to see that all grown up, damn shame they all wern't snapped up but i'll bet that dark brindle will go soon. Best of luck to you and them pups
  10. Myerscough, nr Preston but just noticed your down in Kent... If ya did fancy coming up this way, you'll find a night out in Preston an eye opener!!
  11. Rufford is within West Lancs BC, tell him to phone the council offices in the morning, ask to be put though to the dog wardens, they may have picked it up. Any dog found in West Lancs goes to Leigh cat & dog home. Best of luck
  12. Nice little fella Ronnie, best of luck with it
  13. This hunting with dogs 'thing' comes and goes in small waves, up and down the country, year in year out. Many youngsters take on a dog be it Lurcher or terrier and try their hand. For most it' a way 'in' with another crew,a sort of status thing, killing stuff. Few last any distance, next year its quad bikes, year after their selling weed.... Same old, same old. The 'fall out' of such bursts can be a little upsetting to 'genuine folk' but unfortunatley its just the way of the world!! Personally, I don't care if a kid is wearing his trainies, trackkies or what ever else, as long as he i
  14. That bull bitch in my avatar was a yapper when she started on the lamp. Had a few 'dog men' say I should get shut when they heard her. Won't lie, I was worried sick but none knew that. Took the summer off and headed east to the rolling green of the dales in late August. Damn fine runnin up there, none stop, near ran her to death, didn't have time or breath for a yap, she just loved every minute of it, she was pleased as punch with herself, so was I! For the next few months I tried my best to give her easier runs, she was still loving it and didn't make a sound. She lived to 9 years o
  15. Kye, I'd probably say your right on all counts there. The feet, at least on my stuff, have been damn near indestructable. I posted about feet on another thred, in reply to your Mrs. She has asked me to get some foot pics, which I will. I'll get 'em done soon as theres space on the camera from baby pics!
  16. Very nice, i do like that Have a plaque with a lurcher & a hare at the front of the house, next to the front door. No, that ain't discrete either but I know when I should be
  17. It's a while since I had anythin to do with running a show but if I remember right, public liability insurance dosen't (or didn't) cost too much, it's usually more for the land owners than anyone but worth looking into. As you can and should, put up a few disclaimer notices about the place. Also you can add some on your scheduals.
  18. Seen a few run but none as tidy as that, that last plough footage was very impressive.
  19. Wasn't the Heatons Bridge in Scarisbrick was it? Used to love that boozer, great grub, but gave up on it because of the fecking cat milling around your table. Made a complaint but they gave it a half hearted shoo away. I should have tucked it under my coat and lobbed it in the cut!
  20. I like a good bitch, just sommat about 'em, I gel with 'em better BUT I suppose it really dosent matter, dog or bitch, to me as long as they do what I expect. Got two dogs on now... But a GOOD bitch , everyone likes a good bitch!
