  1. Must be 12 years since I last went but it used to be a good 'un.
  2. I'm not a fan of shooting hare's, nor a fan of shooting in general if i'm being honest and as GTE said in March too BUT FFS, the article is in a national newspaper and there is far more at stake..!
  3. Out Of Town, Jack's Game and finally Clarissa & The Countryman... The last televised series championing hunting. Clarissa was our last celebrity, our last champion in the media, never afraid to speak her mind on hunting and the countryside when she was in the spotlight. There are others but none with the balls to speak out as she did.... Her contribution and loss are both of equal massive proportions.
  4. I read it in the barbers this morning... Pathetic but built to drum up hatred and keep the three ing's very much in the public eye.
  5. Happened to me when the parents were downstairs Never have I been as terrified in my life as I was when I looked down and saw the rubber was filled up with what seemed to be an unbelievable amount of claret. I truly thought "kinell I'm gonna die with my cock in my hand covered in blood, what will my mum think" Very similar situation mate, pain, fear and worst of all relief/satisfaction as it happened at just the right or wrong time (depends how you look at it ) As I sat in the toilet looking down at my destroyed man hood, with my girlfriend outside asking "are you ok?".
  6. Always hot water to shave, me back wheel's shrivel up with cold... For me face, I changed to a lecky one last year, best move i've made.
  7. Really, really sad news for me... I've met Clarissa a good few times now, drank with her, taken her beloved snuff with her and what a wonderful lady she was.... One of the great, true champions of hunting and the countryside with a no nonsense down to earth attitude. A wonderful woman, who one day could be hunting with royalty and the next ratting with the riff raff. There was no class with that woman, just a pure love of the British countryside and its hunting heritage. RIP Clarissa, you did far more than most....
  8. Personally, i think they are way too highly strung and would present a problem, unless someone knows what they are doing and can give them the work that they need, i think it would be very hit and miss.. I would not bother myself. Though I know where your coming from 246, most pastoral breeds come with those strings high, you only have to look at some of those un-worked neurotic Borders for that, its the drive and the 'capability' on top of that high strung nature that I feel would be a time bomb in the wrong hands and on Forums such as this, with the right (wrong) 'sell', those hands co
  9. The bottom line IMO is that for 95% of lurcher owners (me included) they would be too much dog. Those things need constant mental stimulation, sommat to get their teeth into, so to speak, because if they don't all hell would break loose. Those things are bred for constant daily graft. You ain't keeping one of them in a kennel 6 days a week for the one nights bunny bash thats for sure!! Edited to add... Now after writing that, I have re-evaluated it to be 99% not 95%...!!
  10. yeh that could be a prob if it was 1/2 bel mal to 1/2 grey, that's a lot of full on dog in there, maybe 1/4 bel mal to 3/4 grey might eaiser to live with as you say when not hunting. My young dog Buck 1x gsd x grey, is very laid back temp in the kennel, and easy going when out.But when in the hunting mode very full on and bit reckless at times .He big dog but fast+agile picks rabbits up as good as my other dog Bryn, so don't really know if a bel mal would be better regards catching stuff, it might just make better guard dog, as Buck likes people+dogs , as said before bel mal can be ve
  11. Amen to that at the time of typing that i must look like i work at a slaughter house, i am covered in blood after having to gaffer tape a shit house roll on the dogs tail after i shut it in the van door Ouch. Aye, every wag and it'll burst open. I had a dog that burst it's tail on barbed wire, f*****g nightmare. I hope in true THL fashion you took it to the vet It's the fact that he left all the paper on the bog roll that I can't believe..!! Aye you may laugh but when your in a field at 2 in the morning bursting for a shite you'll be glad he's there....lol Yep, feck the St Berna

  13. I wasn't gonna chip in any more on this thred, for me it was put up, as I said, to highlight both the government and rspca, not the ethics of slaughter BUT what I will say is that I really don't give a flying feck how any animal in a slaughterhouse dies, stunned, not stunned, throat cut, stunned not stunned, if its there, its gonna die, end of! Which ever way, (and one takes a bit longer than the other), provided its done right by the guidelines set for that practice/procedure, so what..! I certainly don't give a feck about if it senses death or not... Its there, its gonna happen...!
  14. Well done on a good season Lucky mate, some nice dogs there too. I hope the next season will be just as productive.
  15. If the lurcher in the mix is racy and grafted and your looking for a 'sharp' pastoral blooded mutt, at that price they are well worth a punt....!
  16. Nice pup and nice to see someone who ain't crabbing about the distance when the 'right one' is found.

    Weather

Awoke today to the most stunning frost of the winter and thoroughly enjoyed my morning hike in it, until my pup got some nasty wire rash... That'll stop his gallop for a few days..!!
  18. As I've said before, I don't have a problem with Halal slaughter, never have and agree both Lab and Walshie's points. What I do have a problem with is double standards set by Government and subsequently followed by the media and rspca.

    Weather

End of April, may. It don't like cold or hot weather hence the SCOTTISH saying Only two seasons in Scotland..... Winter and June.
  20. Chainsaw, or maybe the onset of Tinnitus...? Walk around your home in a spiral, getting further away with each rotation, and if you find nothing... Tinnitus..!!!
