  1. If your using a Fenn, try a mix of peanut butter, chocolate spread and coconut oil, spread it on the underside of the pedal of the trap, if that makes sense. A couple of monkey nuts (dirt cheap) or chopped liquorice allsorts can tempt them in, though the mix underside will do the job
  2. Feckin hate that little gobshite Oddie...
  3. Bob, that may be old Ken Woodacre in Leigh, not sure if he's still in the game...
  4. Deffo getting closer, this juvenile delinquent was racing round my front lawn chasing pigeons the other evening... (Forgive the shot, its a screenshot from a video)
  5. "Who's a pretty boy then..."
  6. I seen a clip of a rug stall going ablaze there this year. A stall selling hair gel, vests and micro bra's would make a fortune there...
  7. Especially this coursing bred thing, it takes suspicious and vocal to a whole different level...
  8. Not veg related, but my little cactus and succulent corner is thriving.
  9. They look great, mine are slow AF this year, but we've a way to go yet...
  10. Never been, never fancied it. The thought of watching gypo's charging horses down roads, and then trying to drown the poor feckers in the river really doesn't appeal to me. There's something about the fear on a horses eye that strikes a nerve with me, and if I had to witness it first hand, I wouldn't stand there and watch..!!
  11. The bellends that live nextdoor to me are oblivious to rodents. Moved into open countryside, without a scooby about how it works. Trampy cnuts, they feed the birds fat balls, and dispite my protests about rats coming into my garden, they don't mind them, as 'they are all part of the countryside'. Every year they are plagued with mice in the house, and told us a 'funny' story of how the mice keep them up at night, rustling in the empty crisp packets on the bedroom floor..! So I live with permanent Fenn traps in the garden, and mouse traps in the house. Though to be honest, dispite next-doo
  12. Really sorry to read about your problem Bornhunter. I can only imagine the stress and worry it has put on you and your family. Reading through the pages on this thread, the posts that register with me are those by Downsouth. I think I've liked just about every one... I know little about protection dogs, so I don't feel qualified to answer, but this is something for the whole family, especially in your absence. The last thing I'd want would be a Mali or any other 'wired' breed. To me you require a breed/type that will fit in, easy to handle and make a noise. If it has a bit of substan
  13. If your on Facebook, this one is close to you....
  14. Go on some of the UK Facebook gardening pages comments on rats. Half the country think they are cute fur babies, that should be 'put off' being in a garden, eating produce or feeding at bird tables. And the ways to prevent them are just mental. Planting certain plants and playing radios etc and if that doesn't work, grow more crops, so the rats can have a share.

    Bird/ray

Right chaps, Ray messaged me back last night. He's fine, thankfully... It was one of his usual long messages, explaining how things have been over the past 12 months, and tbh he's not had it easy, and so he's just been putting his life back together at his age. The biggest part was losing Buck. Getting him pts has really hit him hard, he didn't realise how it would affect him, and right now he's steering clear of anything lurcher or hunting related. He still would like another dog, but not yet... And he did say, at some point he will be back on here. I hope so...
  16. With the arrival of the internet, I recon that's pretty standard anywhere these days...!
  17. Damn shame those Coypu died out in the Broads (or did they?) Same with Wales's wallbee's...???

    Bird/ray

To be honest, no... But I will do, as it's not like Ray... Edited to add, just sent him a message... Let's see eh...
  19. Yep Rob the same with me, been told by farmers and those 'fun chaps', the wildlife officers (I can even look like Joe Blogs with a trampy lurcher by my side!) Those mini deer are 'among us'... Thing is mate, to them, a Roe buck looks like a Red stag, and a half grown Roe looks like a Munty. You, like me, are on the ground local, day to day, and seen (or run) nothing! More's the pity...
  20. Loads of em parakeets round my village, noisy little feckers too. Seen a red kite over the field infront of my house last week, and have it on good authority that we have had muntys round here for a few years now, though I'm not convinced, I'm out over these fields every day, morning and night and never seen one.
  21. Not ate rabbit for years, I used to as it was free, and I thought I 'should' seeing that I'd killed it, but tbh I've never really liked the meat, same with hare. I've eaten them in just about every month too, and they all tasted the same... Piss poor, give me venison or game birds anyday! Rabbits are giveaways to those that want em, other than that, dog and ferret food.
  22. Spuds have gone mad this year, and I think it's because I changed tactics. Invested in spud bags about 4 years ago, and crops have always been poor. So this year put (first earlies) in but put a higher volume of soil/compost in. About two thirds full. They sprouted well, and rather than dig for soil to cover them, or buy compost (feck that!) I used the spoils from my logging patch, a mix of sawdust, bark and soil, as I figured it's not really about nutrition, it's simply to cover growing spuds, and the mix they were planted in was good enough anyway. So I've kept them topped up with that
  23. Who knows... Though it wouldn't surprise me if almost all of those that 'fly so high' have known who was there and what they've been up to.
