Can be much cheaper from Europe. These guys are excellent and speak English, just ask them for a price on the 12 fpe version of whatever you want to order. I also have one of their DBS Elite Leapers clone scopes, which can cope with 16 fpe worth of recoil from my HW85. https://www.db-schietsport.nl/en/

Petrol normally softens the deposits. Soaking in cleaning alcohol also works for my .22LR mods, and I use an old toothbrush for those hard-to-reach places.

/stoeger X20 Suppressor Air Rifle
Coypu Hunter replied to Steve Thomson's topic in General Airgun Discussion
You can get a drop-in trigger blade from Welsh Willy (Woodfield Guncare Products). The rifle will still be crap, though. If it's the Stoeger scope in the bundle, that will be crap too. The mildot blobs are so big, you won't be able to see a small target at 30 metres. Go for a Weihrauch HW99s or HW30s and you won't regret it next week -- which you will do if you buy the Stoeger. The 30s can be delivered to your door from Holland for 159€ plus 20€ shipping, and you'd need to add a scope. https://www.db-schietsport.nl/en/air-guns/weihrauch-hw30s-45mm.html -
Aye, if all else fails, use it as a club.

If it's an all-synthetic stock with accessory rails on top and at both sides on the forestock, then it's probably the ATAC Suppressor (a gas rammer). If no rails, then could be the X20 Suppressor springer. Can't tell without a piccie. I have a 16 fpe ATAC Suppressor which I use as a doorstop, because it's bugger-all use as a rifle! The original trigger was like pulling a brick with a string, so I modded it, not much better, then installed a Welsh Willy trigger blade, which is impossible to adjust, but the thing still groups like a shotgun. The original "Stoeger" optic fell apart under

It's often mentioned in their signatures. The 97 is many people's favourite. However, it may need a bit of fettling to get it shooting sweetly. Or you could just buy an AA TX200, which is reputed to be as good as a well-sorted 97 straight out of the box. Or a Walther LGU.

The biggest one I've seen was just over 11 kg, or around 23.5 lbs...

I'd noticed some tree damage at the waterline over the last couple of weeks, which meant that a coypu was sneaking around, nibbling the willow bark. Looked like it was trying to kill this particular goat willow... I'd seen a coypu about 6 weeks ago, and again about a month ago, but it disappeared both times when I went looking for it. I guessed it was coming under the fence briefly every day or night to feed. Finally, this morning, I spotted it having a quiet snooze on the western bank, about 100 yards from the house. Time for a stelfy stalk up the eastern bank. I found a narrow gap between t

Now: where was that thread about not using 22LR on foxes...? Nice shootin', Tex!

Can you build a hide within range that allows you to creep up into position behind it, without them seeing you?

Probably Just Me Being Too Picky
Coypu Hunter replied to Lewissc's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Stick a big jubilee clip around it and snug it up nice and tight. Should solve the problem. -
Nope, springers do it too. It's normally down to the shooter (a slight repositioning of your hold on the stock will do it with a springer) or a dodgy pellet (misshapen or different head size/weight).

You shot at your own finger? Nice shootin', Tex!
-
As Deker said, what will you be using it for? It's a very accurate rifle, but very heavy -- so lugging one around a permission all day could be an issue if you're a 9-stone weakling...

Cheap as chips, too! Just chop bits off the bottom of the legs, and tell her that half-mast cut-off jeans are the latest fashion!

I have one of these, very light and stable. http://www.shooting-supplies.eu/en/product-details/c245/p618/shooting-accessories/mtm-shooting-rests-boxes/rifle-pistol-rests/mtm-predator-shooting-rest.html But I also use home-made jobbies for target-shooting with springers:

This Will Start The Air Rifle Boys Off
Coypu Hunter replied to David.evans's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I use the .22 version (25.38 grains, if memory serves) or Bisley Magnums (21 grains) in my 16 fpe HW85. The JSBs are accurate enough at 33 yards, and well-made, but pricey compared with the Bisleys. -
Explanation Of Wild Movement After Head Shots.
Coypu Hunter replied to philpot's topic in General Airgun Discussion
I read somewhere it's called residual synaptic capacitance, i.e. energy stored in the nerves and synapses for instant release in case of need. The arrival of a pellet short-circuits and disrupts the nervous system, and the residual energy bleeds off. Even shot humans do it sometimes, apparently... -
Are they called green because they end up fertilising the countryside, rather than splatting quarry?
-
You can always try sample packs to see if the pellets suit your rifle, rather than shell out for an entire tin. There are a couple of choices here, and the site may sell others if you have a mooch around: http://www.pelletperfect.co.uk/index.php?route=product/search&search=power

I've tried a few, but there are none that I'd recommend -- not one of them groups well through my FAC springers at range. No-one can really "recommend" pellets to you, since each barrel and action is slightly different, so you'll have to experiment to see if a particular pellet works well through your rifle. The H&N Barracuda Power are nicely made pellets, though but.

well later today i managed to inherit a weihrauch hw35 .177 (do i need to laugh at this point)it is what it is,pretty bad shape lot rust on barrell butt scratched up, gave it quick oil up and put couple pellets through it just to check it worked lol,so iv separated barrel from stock want give it some needed attention, where do i start.any good you tube vids worth a watch?or should i not really bother with it just a good clean up and use as it is cheers The 35 is a handy little rifle, very manageable in the field, and if all you need it for is a bit of medium-range hunting, then it will

Depends if you're used to shooting springers or not, which requires practice in terms of maintaining the correct hold to achieve good accuracy. The CO2 rifle would be easier to shoot (no recoil), but you will find that the power drops off a little in cold weather, and CO2 rifles tend to be a little under-powered in any case (around 10 fpe). You should check the zero of any rifle before taking aim at live quarry, but this is particularly important for CO2 rifles. If you can put in the practice time to learn to shoot a springer well, then I'd say go for the springer -- they're cheap
