  1. I got a pair of canaries last week and the hen has laid her fourth egg today, I know they will lay a few and then start sitting them but the question is the hen has been sitting on the nest as it goes dark (probably all night) and for hours in the morning until she's laid her egg and then coming off them for a good while? Will the eggs have started germinating in the period she's been sat on them or will it just be when she starts to sit really tight? Cheers, Gnipper

  4. Cheers matie, I had found out since my original post, thanks...they dont touch them when they firs come over, when rowan is plentiful..the group here were feeding on these in the morning and in the afternoon, then in the evening they switched to the live stuff..amazing on Good Friday taking pictures of waxwings and watching swallows at the same time.. I wish we had some round here, we have to prune the berries off a lot of the rowan types at work because the weight breaks the branches
  5. Depends which one you think worked the best mate, i'd say the oldest though but I only saw the youngster starting out working.
  6. 8, couldn't believe it as the most i'd had before was 3.
  7. Good luck with whatever you choose, I got a pair of canaries last weekend and i've got 2 eggs already My mate keeps zebra's canaries and some little quail in his small aviary and they do ok and survived the bad cold we had this winter.
  8. Cracking pictures there mate, its a cotoneaster their eating the berries off.
  9. I would have thought them two would be ok mate, just shows what a difference the hormones make.
  10. Stick a hose pipe down the cavity if there's nothing damageable around and flood them out.
  11. I used some generic ones too and I might aswell have fed them smarties the amount of good they did. Even with paying vets prices for proper wormers if you have a sensible amount of dogs its hardly gonna break the bank is it once every 3 months, cheaper than a night on the ale thats for sure and you've got peace of mind knowing they will work and not hurt your dogs.
  12. When we were kids one of the local farmers had a free range terrier that used to knock about with us and we'd take her ratting etc but if you said Rats around her she'd grab the nearest leg and shag the shite out of it, it was always fun when there was someone new around that didn't know about it
  13. Try him at lure coursing if your just wanting to use him for something. You don't have to get permission and lamps etc for that just join a club and away you go.
  14. Nice pics there. If that old collie dog ever gets his wicked way with a greyhound give me a shout when the pups are due
  15. Cheers mate, just registered now so i'll see what I can find.
  16. Anyone on here keep them or know anyone who does? I've been interested in them for a few years now but could never source any decent ones. I know the eggs are available on ebay but they are selling for rare breed prices and its no wonder there fecking rare at that price. Also i'm interested in Shamo's if anyone's got some but ends up eating the eggs. Anyone get me some cheap hatching eggs? Cheers, Gnipper
  17. 32 out of a ten holer in the middle of a paddock, there was 8 in a stop end . I think the most we've had out of it since is 5 or so though. If only all burrows were like that one the first time we did it.
  18. You can try as many different dressings as you like but if the dog wants them off then it will, possibly even damaging it more in the process. I had to get the end took off my dogs tail in the end and he was a fecker for opening the wound up and removing the dressings and stitches afterwards. The vet wanted to take nearly all his tail off which I said no to, it would have healed a lot quicker if he had done but I think I made the right decision in the end after it eventually healed.
  19. Same here, only ever lost one, a brilliant worker and it was on a massive sand bank. I was only a kid out on me own and was digging massive holes everywhere trying to find her .
  20. Mine, 22" Not the fastest or the best but he's a tryer
  21. Right your a f*****g nutter and that RSPCA comment is f*****g out of order, as is insinuating that someone is not caring for their animals cos they don't feed them 'specially formulated' over priced, dry processed shit. If you believe that feeding ferrets an organic, fresh, wild, whole carcass diet is keeping them in 'poor condition' then your either a 14 year old who has had ferrets 10 mins or a f*****g remedial. Sound like your worried about the r.s.p.c.a coming to you place. Maybe you should get a visit. I have never had any problem with you. You started this crap and now you have to
  22. Out lamping last year and my mate tried to hoof a rabbit the dog was chasing which ended very badly for him when the dog knocked him flying and into a load of mud , the dog caught the rabbit too
  23. If its a straight catching contest then whoever catches the most wins so there couldn't be a handicap, I personally don't think that Pennymeadow will be biased and he will tell it straight.
  24. If that jill needs homing and mushroom isn't too far away now i'll take her
